1 Johanneksen 5
1 Jokainen, joka uskoo, että Jesus on Kristus, hän on Jumalasta syntynyt, ja jokainen, joka rakastaa sitä, joka synnytti, hän rakastaa myös sitä, joka hänestä syntynyt on.
Every one who believes that Jesus is the Christ has received the new Life from God; and every one who loves him who gave that Life loves him who has received it.
2 Siitä me tunnemme, että me rakastamme Jumalan lapsia, koska me Jumalaa rakastamme ja hänen käskynsä pidämme.
By this we know that we love God’s Children — when we love God and carry out his commands.
3 Sillä tämä on rakkaus Jumalan tykö, että me hänen käskynsä pidämme, ja hänen käskynsä ei ole raskaat.
For to love God is to lay his commands to heart; and his commands are not burdensome,
4 Sillä kaikki, mitä Jumalasta syntynyt on, se voittaa maailman, ja meidän uskomme on se voitto, joka maailman voitti.
because all that has received the new Life from God conquers the world. And this is the power that has conquered the world — our faith!
5 Kuka siis on, joka voittaa maailman, mutta se joka uskoo, että Jesus on Jumalan Poika?
Who is he that conquers the world but the man who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 Tämä on se, joka vedellä ja verellä tulee, Jesus Kristus, ei ainoastansa vedellä, vaan vedellä ja verellä. Ja Henki todistaa, että Henki on totuus.
He it is whose Coming was attested by means of Water and Blood — Jesus Christ himself; not by Water only, but by Water and by Blood. And there is the Spirit also to bear testimony, and the Spirit is Truth itself.
7 Sillä kolme ovat, jotka todistavat taivaassa: Isä, Sana ja Pyhä Henki, ja ne kolme yksi ovat:
It is a three-fold testimony —
8 Ja kolme ovat, jotka todistavat maan päällä: Henki ja vesi ja veri, ja ne kolme yhdessä ovat.
that of the Spirit, the Water, and the Blood — and these three are at one.
9 Jos me ihmisten todistuksen otamme, niin on Jumalan todistus suurempi; sillä tämä on Jumalan todistus, jonka hän Pojastansa todisti.
We accept the testimony of men, but God’s testimony is still stronger; and there is the testimony of God — the fact that he has already borne testimony about his Son.
10 Joka uskoo Jumalan Pojan päälle, hänellä on todistus itsessänsä: joka ei usko Jumalaa, hän tekee hänen valehteliaksi; sillä ei hän uskonut sitä todistusta, jonka Jumala on Pojastansa todistanut.
He who believes in the Son of God has that testimony within him. He who does not believe God has made God a liar, by refusing to believe in that testimony which he has borne about his Son.
11 Ja tämä on se todistus, että Jumala on meille ijankaikkisen elämän antanut, ja se elämä on hänen Pojassansa. (aiōnios g166)
And that testimony is that God gave us Immortal Life, and that this Life is in his Son. (aiōnios g166)
12 Jolla Jumalan Poika on, hänellä on elämä; jolla ei Jumalan Poika ole, ei hänellä ole elämää.
He who finds the Son finds Life; he who does not find the Son of God does not find Life.
13 Näitä minä teille kirjoitin, jotka Jumalan Pojan nimen päälle uskotte: että te tietäisitte teillänne ijankaikkisen elämän olevan, ja että te uskoisitte Jumalan Pojan nimen päälle. (aiōnios g166)
I write this to you, that you may realise that you have found Immortal Life — you who believe in the Name of the Son of God. (aiōnios g166)
14 Ja tämä on se turva, joka meillä on häneen, että jos me jotakin anomme hänen tahtonsa jälkeen, niin hän meitä kuulee.
And this is the confidence with which we approach him, that whenever we ask anything that is in accordance with his will, he listens to us.
15 Ja jos me tiedämme, että hän meitä kuulee, mitä ikänä me anomme, niin me tiedämme, että meillä ovat ne anomiset, joita me häneltä anoimme.
And if we realise that he listens to us — whatever we ask — we realise that we have what we have asked from him.
16 Jos joku näkee veljensä tekevän jonkun synnin, ei kuolemaan, hän rukoilkaan, niin hän on antava niille elämän, jotka syntiä tekevät, ei kuolemaan. Jos synti on kuolemaan: senkaltaisista en minä sano, että joku rukoilis.
If any one sees his Brother committing some sin that is not a deadly sin, he will ask, and so be the means of giving Life to him — to any whose sin is not deadly. There is such a thing as deadly sin; about that I do not say that a man should pray.
17 Kaikki vääryys on synti; on myös muutama synti ei kuolemaan.
Every wrong action is sin, and there is sin that is not deadly.
18 Me tiedämme, että jokainen, joka Jumalasta syntynyt on, ei hän syntiä tee; vaan joka Jumalasta syntynyt on, se varjelee itsensä, ja paha ei rupee häneen.
We know that no one who has received the new Life from God lives in sin. No, he who has received the new Life from God keeps the thought of God in his heart, and then the Evil One does not touch him.
19 Me tiedämme, että me olemme Jumalasta ja koko maailma on pahuudessa.
We realise that we come from God, while all the world is under the influence of the Evil One.
20 Mutta me tiedämme, että Jumalan Poika tuli ja on meille mielen antanut, että me sen totisen tunnemme, ja olemme siinä totisessa, hänen Pojassansa Jesuksessa Kristuksessa: Tämä on totinen Jumala ja ijankaikkinen elämä. (aiōnios g166)
We realise, too, that the Son of God has come among us, and has given us the discernment to know the True God; and we are in union with the True God by our union with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the True God and he is Immortal Life. (aiōnios g166)
21 Lapsukaiset, kavahtakaat epäjumalia, amen!
My Children, guard yourselves against false ideas of God.
