1 Nämät tulivat Davidin tykö Ziklagiin, kuin hän vielä oli suljettu Saulin Kisin pojan edestä; ja he olivat myös sankarein seassa, jotka sotaan auttivat,

Now these, are they who came unto David, to Ziklag, he yet being shut up, because of Saul son of Kish, —and, they, were among the heroes, helpers in the war;

2 Ja olivat soveliaat ampujat joutsella molemmin käsin, kivillä, nuolilla ja joutsilla: Saulin veljistä, BenJaminista:

armed with the bow, using right hand or left with stones, and with arrows in the bow, —of the brethren of Saul, out of Benjamin:

3 Ahieser päämies ja Joas, Semajan Gibealaisen pojat, Jesiel ja Pelet Asmavetin pojat, Baraka ja Jehu Antonilainen,

the chief, Ahiezer, and Joash, sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite, and Jeziel and Pelet, sons of Azmaveth, —and Beracah, and Jehu the Anathothite;

4 Jesmaja Gibeonilainen, väkevä kolmenkymmenen seassa ja ylitse kolmenkymmenen, Jeremia, Jahesiel, Johanan ja Josabad Gederalainen,

and Ishmaiah, the Gibeonite, a hero among the thirty, and over the thirty, —and Jeremiah and Jahaziel, and Johanan, and Jozabad, the Gederathite;

5 Elusai, Jerimot, Bealia, Semaria ja Saphatia Harophilainen,

Eluzai and Jerimoth and Bealiah and Shemariah, and Shephatiah, the Haruphite;

6 Elkana, Jesija, Asareel, Joeser ja Jasobeam Korhilainen,

Elkanah and Isshiah, and Azarel, and Joezer and Jashobeam, the Korahites;

7 Joela ja Sedadia Jerohamin lapset Gedorista.

and Joelah and Zebadiah, sons of Jeroham, of Gedor.

8 Gadilaisista eroittivat heitänsä Davidin tykö linnaan korvessa väkevät sankarit ja sotamiehet, jotka kilpeä ja keihästä kantoivat; ja heidän kasvonsa olivat niinkuin jalopeuran kasvot, ja nopiat niinkuin metsävuohet vuorilla:

And, of the Gadites, there separated themselves unto David, to the stronghold towards the desert, heroes of valour, men of war, for battle, men that could handle shield and spear, —and, faces of lions, were their faces, and, like gazelles upon the mountains, were they, for swiftness:

9 Ensimäinen Eser, toinen Obadia, kolmas Eliab,

Ezer, the chief, Obadiah, the second, —Eliab, the third;

10 Neljäs Mismanna, viides Jeremia,

Mashmannah, the fourth, Jeremiah, the fifth;

11 Kuudes Attai, seitsemäs Eliel,

Attai, the sixth, Eliel the seventh;

12 Kahdeksas Johanan, ykdeksäs Elsabad,

Johanan, the eighth, Elzabad, the ninth;

13 Kymmenes Jeremia, yksitoistakymmenes Mahbanai.

Jeremiah, the tenth, Machbannai, the eleventh.

14 Nämät olivat Gadin lapsista sodan päämiehet: vähin sadan päälle ja suurin tuhannen päälle.

These, were of the sons of Gad, chiefs of the host, —one to a hundred, the least, and, the greatest, to a thousand.

15 Nämät ovat ne jotka menivät Jordanin ylitse ensimäisenä kuuna, kuin se oli täysi kaikkiin reunoihinsa asti; ja he ajoivat pakoon kaikki, jotka asuivat laaksossa, itään ja länteen päin.

These, are they who passed over the Jordan, in the first month, when, it, was full, over all its banks, —and they put to flight all them of the vales, to the east and to the west.

16 Ja sinne myös tulivat BenJaminin lapsista ja Juudasta, Davidin tykö linnaan.

And there came, of the sons of Benjamin, and Judah, as far as the stronghold, unto David.

17 Ja David meni ulos heidän tykönsä, ja vastasi ja sanoi heille: jos tulitte rauhan kanssa minun tyköni auttamaan minua, niin olkoon sydämeni teidän kanssanne: vaan jos tulitte pettämään minua vihollisilleni, vaikka ei vääryyttä ole minussa, niin meidän isäimme Jumala nähköön ja rangaiskoon;

And David went forth to meet them, and responded, and said to them, If, peaceably, ye are come unto me, to help me, I shall have towards you, a heart for unity, —but, if to betray me to mine adversaries, there being no violence in my hands, may the God of our fathers see and rebuke!

18 Ja henki vaikutti Amasain, päämiehen kolmenkymmenen seassa: Sinun me olemme, David, ja pidämme sinun kanssas, Isain poika, rauha, rauha olkoon sinulle, rauha olkoon sinun auttajilles! sillä sinun Jumalas auttaa sinua. Niin otti David heidät tykönsä ja asetti heidät sotaväen päämiehiksi.

Then, the spirit, clothed Amasai, chief of the thirty, Thine, O David, Yea, with, thee, O son of Jesse! Prosperity, prosperity to thee, And prosperity to thy helpers, For thy God, hath helped thee: So David accepted them, and set them among the chiefs of the band.

19 Ja Manassesta tuli väkeä Davidin puolelle, kuin hän meni Philistealaisten kanssa Saulia vastaan sotaan, vaikka ei he auttaneet heitä; sillä Philistealaisten päämiehet antoivat neuvonpiteestä hänen tyköänsä mennä pois, ja sanoivat: jos hän lankee herransa Saulin tykö, niin se tulee henkemme vaaraksi.

And, of Manasseh, there fell away unto David, when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle, but they helped them not, —for the lords of the Philistines advisedly sent him away, saying, At the price of our heads, he might fall away to his master, Saul.

20 Kuin hän meni Ziklagiin, tulivat hänen tykönsä Manassesta Adna, Josabad, Jediael, Mikael, Josabad, Elihu ja Ziltai, tuhanten päämiehet Manassesta.

When he went into Ziklag, there fell away unto him, of Manasseh, Adnah and Jozabad, and Jediael and Michael and Jozabad, and Elihu and Zillethai, —chiefs of the thousands that pertained to Manasseh;

21 Ja he auttivat Davidia sotajoukkoa vastaan; sillä he olivat kaikki väkevät miehet ja olivat päämiehet sodassa.

and, they, helped with David, against the [marauding] band, for, heroes of valour, were they all, —and they became captains in the host;

22 Ja joka päivä tuli muutamia Davidin tykö auttamaan häntä, siihenasti että se tuli suureksi sotajoukoksi, niinkuin Jumalan sotajoukoksi.

for, from day to day, there came unto David, to help him, —until it was a great camp, like a camp of God.

23 Ja tämä on sotaan hankittuin päämiesten luku, jotka tulivat Davidin tykö Hebroniin, kääntämään Saulin valtakuntaa hänen tykönsä, Herran sanan jälkeen:

And, these, are the numbers of the chiefs armed for war, they came unto David, to Hebron, —to turn round the kingdom of Saul unto him, according to the bidding of Yahweh:

24 Juudan lapsista, jotka kantoivat kilpeä ja keihästä, oli kuusituhatta ja kahdeksansataa sotaan hankittua;

Sons of Judah, bearers of shield and spear, six thousand and eight hundred, armed for war.

25 Simeonin lapsista väkevät miehet sotimaan, seitsemäntuhatta ja sata;

Of sons of Simeon, heroes of valour for the war, seven thousand, and one hundred.

26 Levin lapsista neljätuhatta ja kuusisataa;

Of the sons of Levi, four thousand, and six hundred.

27 Ja Jojada niiden päämies, jotka olivat Aaronista, ja hänen kanssansa oli kolmetuhatta ja seitsemänsataa;

And Jehoiada, was chief ruler for Aaron, —and, with him, three thousand and seven hundred;

28 Ja Zadok väkevä nuorukainen, ja hänen isänsä huoneen kanssa oli kaksikolmattakymmentä päämiestä;

and Zadok, a young man, a hero of valour, —and the house of his father, captains twenty and two.

29 Ja BenJaminin lapsista Saulin veljistä kolmetuhatta; sillä siihenasti piti heistä sangen monta vielä Saulin huoneen kanssa;

And, of the sons of Benjamin, brethren of Saul, three thousand, —and, hitherto, the greater part of them, had been keeping the charge of the house of Saul.

30 Ja Ephraimin lapsista kaksikymmentä tuhatta ja kahdeksansataa, väkevät ja ylistetyt miehet heidän isäinsä huoneessa;

And, of the sons of Ephraim, twenty thousand, and eight hundred, —heroes of valour, men of renown, to their ancestral house.

31 Ja puolesta Manassen sukukunnasta kahdeksantoistakymmentä tuhatta, jotka olivat nimeltänsä nimitetyt tulemaan ja tekemään Davidia kuninkaaksi;

And, of the half tribe of Manasseh, eighteen thousand, who were distinguished by name, coming in to make David king.

32 Ja Isaskarin lapsista, jotka olivat taitavat aikain tietäjät ymmärtämään, mitä Israelin tekemän piti, kaksisataa heidän päämiestänsä, ja kaikki heidän veljensä tekivät heidän käskynsä jälkeen;

And, of the sons of Issachar, such as were of good understanding of the times, to know what Israel, should do, their chiefs, were two hundred, and, all their brethren, were at their bidding.

33 Sebulonista, jotka menivät sotimaan, hankitut sotaan kaikkinaisilla sota-aseilla, viisikymmentä tuhatta, asettamaan itsensä yksimielisesti järjestykseen;

Of Zebulun—such as were ready to go forth in host, expert for battle with all weapons of war, fifty thousand, —and for setting in array, not of two minds!

34 Naphtalista tuhannen päämiestä, ja seitsemänneljättäkymmentä tuhatta heidän kanssansa, jotka kantoivat kilpeä ja keihästä;

And, of Naphtali, a thousand captains, —and, with them, with shield and spear, thirty-seven thousand.

35 Danista hankitsivat sotaan kahdeksankolmattakymmentä tuhatta ja kuusisataa;

And, of the Danite, expert for war, twenty-eight thousand, and six hundred.

36 Asserista, jotka menivät hankittuina sotimaan, neljäkymmentä tuhatta;

And, of Asher, such as were ready to go forth in host to set in array for battle, forty thousand.

37 Tuolta puolelta Jordania: Rubenilaisista, Gadilaisista ja puolesta Manassen sukukunnasta, kaikkinaisilla aseilla sotaan, sata ja kaksikymmentä tuhatta.

And, from over the Jordan, of the Reubenites and Gadites and half tribe of Manasseh, with all manner of weapons of war for battle, a hundred and twenty thousand.

38 Kaikki nämät sotamiehet sodan toimittajat tulivat täydestä sydämestä Hebroniin, tekemään Davidia koko Israelin kuninkaaksi: niin myös kaikilla muilla Israelissa oli yksi mieli tehdä Davidia Israelin kuninkaaksi.

All these, being men of war, expert in setting in battle-array, with a perfect heart, came to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel, —moreover also, all the rest of Israel, were of one heart to make David king.

39 Ja he olivat siellä Davidin tykönä kolme päivää, söivät ja joivat; sillä heidän veljensä olivat valmistaneet heidän eteensä.

So they were there, with David, three days, eating and drinking, —for their brethren had made preparation for them.

40 Ja ne myös, jotka likin olivat heidän ympärillänsä Isaskariin, Sebuloniin ja Naphtaliin asti, he toivat leipiä aaseilla, kameleilla, muuleilla ja härjillä, syötäviä jauhoja, fikunoita, rusinoita, viinaa, öljyä, härkiä ja lampaita viljalta; sillä ilo oli Israelissa.

Moreover also, they who were near of kin unto them, as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, were bringing bread, on asses and on camels and on mules and on oxen, meal-food, cakes of figs and cakes of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep—in abundance, —for there was joy Israel.
