To the Chief Musician. For "the Lilies of Testimony." Asaph’s. A Melody. O Shepherd of Israel, give ear, Thou who leddest forth Joseph like a rock, Thou who art throned on the cherubim, appear!
2 le Efraim, Benyamin kple Manase ŋgɔ. Nyɔ wò ŋusẽ, va nàxɔ na mí.
Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy strength, And come! to our salvation.
3 O! Mawu, gaɖo mí te; na wò mo naklẽ ɖe mía dzi, be míakpɔ xɔxɔ.
O God, bring us back, And light up thy face, That we may be saved.
4 O! Yehowa, Mawu Ŋusẽkatãtɔ, va se ɖe ɣe ka ɣi wò dɔmedzoe abi ɖe wò dukɔ ƒe gbedodoɖa ŋu?
O Yahweh, God of hosts! How long hast thou been wroth with the prayer of thy people?
5 Èna aɖatsibolo wo woɖu, eye nèna aɖatsi wo wono taŋtaŋ.
Thou hast fed them with the food of tears, And hast caused them to drink the water of weeping in threefold abundance.
6 Ètsɔ mí wɔ dzrewɔnui na míaƒe aƒelikawo, eye míaƒe futɔwo ɖe alɔme le mía ŋu.
Thou dost make us an object of contention to our neighbours, And, our foes, find mockery for themselves.
7 O! Mawu, Ŋusẽkatãtɔ, gaɖo mí te; na wò mo naklẽ ɖe mía dzi, be míakpɔ xɔxɔ.
O God of hosts, bring us back, And light up thy face, That we may be saved.
8 Ètsɔ wainka tso Egipte, ènya dukɔwo, eye nèdoe.
A vine out of Egypt, thou didst remove, Thou didst cast out nations, and plant it;
9 Èdzra eŋuti ɖo nyuie, eye wòto ke hevu tsyɔ anyigba.
Thou didst make a clear space before it, So it rooted well its roots, and filled up the land;
10 Edo vɔvɔli ɖe towo tame eye wòɖe alɔ de sedati kɔkɔwo tame.
Covered were the mountains with its shade, And, with its boughs, the mighty cedars.
11 Eɖe alɔ yi ɖe keke ƒuta ke, eye eƒe kewo yi ɖe keke Frat tɔsisi la nu ke.
It thrust forth its branches as far as the sea, —And, unto the River, its shoots.
12 Nu ka ŋuti nègbã kpɔ le eŋu, ale be ame siwo to afi ma yi la fɔ wain tsetsewo?
Wherefore hast thou broken down its fences, So that all who pass along the way, pluck its fruit?
13 Gbehawo nya avuzi le edzi, eye gbemelãwo ɖui.
The boar out of the forest, browseth upon it, And, the wild beast of the field, pastureth thereon.
14 Trɔ va mía gbɔ, O Mawu, Ŋusẽkatãtɔ! Do kɔ ɖa tso dziƒo, eye nàkpɔ nu! Kpɔ wainka sia ta,
O God of hosts, return, we pray thee, —Look down out of the heavens, and see, And inspect this vine:
15 ke si wò nuɖusi do, viŋutsu si wò ŋutɔ nèhe wòtsi.
Yea the stock which thy right hand planted, Even upon the son thou didst secure for thyself.
16 Wolã wò wainka, wotɔ dzoe, eye wò mokaname na wò amewo tsrɔ̃.
To be burned with fire, it is cut down, —At the rebuke of thy countenance, they will perish.
17 Wò asi nenɔ ŋutsu si le wò nuɖusime, amegbetɔvi si nènyi na ɖokuiwò la dzi.
Let thy hand be, Upon the Man of thy right hand, Upon the Son of Man thou didst secure for thyself;
18 Ekema míatrɔ le yowòme o; gbɔ agbe mí, eye míayɔ wò ŋkɔ.
So will we not draw back from thee, Thou wilt bring us to life, And, on thy Name, will we call.
19 O! Yehowa, Mawu Ŋusẽkatãtɔ, gaɖo mí te; na wò mo nàklẽ ɖe mía dzi be míakpɔ xɔxɔ.
O Yahweh, God of hosts! bring us back, Light up thy face, That we may be saved.
