< Psalmowo 44 >
O! Mawu, míawo ŋutɔ míesee kple míaƒe towo, nu siwo mía fofowo gblɔ na mí tso nu siwo nèwɔ na wo le woƒe ɣeyiɣiwo me le blema.
TO THE OVERSEER. AN INSTRUCTION OF THE SONS OF KORAH. O God, we have heard with our ears, Our fathers have recounted to us, The work You worked in their days, In the days of old.
2 Ètsɔ wò asi nya dukɔwo, eye nètsɔ mía fofowo ɖo wo teƒe. Ègbã dukɔwo gudugudu, ke èna mía fofowo ya dzi ɖe edzi.
You, [with] Your hand, have dispossessed nations. And You plant them. You afflict peoples, and send them away.
3 Anyigba mesu wo si to woawo ŋutɔ ƒe yi dzi loo, alo woawo ŋutɔ ƒe alɔe ɖu dzi na wo o, ke boŋ wò nuɖusi, wò alɔ kple wò mo ƒe kekelie xɔ na wo, elabena èlɔ̃ wo.
For they did not possess the land by their sword, And their arm did not give salvation to them, But Your right hand, and Your arm, And the light of Your countenance, Because You had accepted them.
4 Wòe nye nye Fia kple nye Mawu, wòe he dziɖuɖuwo vɛ na Yakob.
You [are] He, my King, O God, Command the deliverances of Jacob.
5 To dziwò míetutu míaƒe futɔwo do ɖe megbe, eye to wò ŋkɔ me míenya avuzi le míaƒe futɔwo dzi.
By You we push our adversaries, By Your Name we tread down our withstanders,
6 Nyemeɖo ŋu ɖe nye aŋutrɔ ŋu o, eye nye yi mehe dziɖuɖu vɛ nam o,
For I do not trust in my bow, And my sword does not save me.
7 ke boŋ èna míeɖu míaƒe ketɔwo dzi, eye nèna ŋukpe lé míaƒe adikatɔwo.
For You have saved us from our adversaries, And You have put to shame those hating us.
8 Míetsɔ Mawu ƒo adegbe ŋkeke blibo la, eye míakafu wò ŋkɔ tegbetegbe. (Sela)
In God we have boasted all the day, And we thank Your Name for all time. (Selah)
9 Ke azɔ la, ègbe mí, eye nèbɔbɔ mí ɖe anyi; azɔ la, mègadona kple míaƒe aʋakɔwo o.
In anger You have cast off and cause us to blush, And do not go forth with our hosts.
You cause us to turn backward from an adversary, And those hating us, Have spoiled for themselves.
11 Ètsɔ mí na be woavuvu mí abe alẽwo ene, eye nèkaka mí ɖe dukɔwo dome.
You make us food like sheep, And You have scattered us among nations.
12 Ètsɔ wò dukɔ la dzra ho kpɔtsɔe eye mèkpɔ naneke le wo dzadzra me o.
You sell Your people—without wealth, And have not become great by their price.
13 Ètsɔ mí wɔ vlodonu na míaƒe aƒelikawo, eye míezu alɔmeɖenu kple nu ɖikokoe na ame siwo ƒo xlã mí.
You make us a reproach to our neighbors, A scorn and a reproach to our surrounders.
14 Ètsɔ mí wɔ lodonu le dukɔwo dome, eye amewo ʋuʋua ta ɖe mía ŋu ne wokpɔ mí.
You make us an allegory among nations, A shaking of the head among peoples.
15 Nye vlododo le ŋkunye me ŋkeke blibo la, eye ŋukpe tsyɔa mo nam,
All the day my confusion [is] before me, And the shame of my face has covered me.
Because of the voice of a reproacher and reviler, Because of an enemy and a self-avenger.
17 Togbɔ be míeŋlɔ wò be, alo da alakpa le wò nubabla la me o hã la, èna nu siawo katã va mía dzi.
All this met us, and we did not forget You, Nor have we dealt falsely in Your covenant.
18 Míaƒe dziwo metrɔ le yowòme o, eye míaƒe afɔwo hã metra le wò mɔ dzi o.
We do not turn our heart backward, Nor turn aside our step from Your path.
19 Gake ègbã mí gudugudu hegble mí ɖe amegaxiwo dome, eye nètsɔ viviti tsiɖitsiɖi tsyɔ mía dzi.
But You have struck us in a place of dragons, And cover us over with death-shade.
20 Nenye ɖe míeŋlɔ míaƒe Mawu ŋkɔ be, alo ke míaƒe abɔwo na dzromawu aɖe la,
If we have forgotten the Name of our God, And spread our hands to a strange God,
21 ɖe Mawu manya esi wònya dzimenu ɣaɣlawo katã oa?
Does God not search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.
Surely, for Your sake we have been slain all the day, Reckoned as sheep of the slaughter.
23 Nyɔ, O Aƒetɔ! Nu ka ta nèle alɔ̃ dɔm ɖo? Fɔ! Mègagbe mí ɖikaa o.
Stir up—why do You sleep, O Lord? Awake, do not cast us off forever.
Why do You hide Your face? You forget our afflictions and our oppression,
25 Wohe mí ƒu ke me, eye míaƒe ŋutilã lé ɖe anyigba.
For our soul has bowed to the dust, Our belly has cleaved to the earth.
26 Tso, nàxɔ na mí, ɖe mí le wò lɔlɔ̃ si meʋãna o la ta.
Arise, a help to us, And ransom us for your kindness’ sake.
