He that being often reproved stiffeneth his neck, suddenly shall be hurt, and there be no healing.
2 Ne ame dzɔdzɔewo le dzi ɖum la, amewo dzɔa dzi; ke ne dziɖuɖu ge ɖe ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe asi me la, amewo ŋena.
When the righteous become great, the people rejoice, but, when a lawless man beareth rule, a people sigh.
3 Ame si lɔ̃a nunya la hea dzidzɔ vɛ na fofoa, ke ame si dze xɔ̃ gbolowo la gblẽa eƒe ga dome.
A man who loveth wisdom, gladdeneth his father, but, a companion of harlots, destroyeth wealth.
4 To afia nyui tsotso me fia hea dedinɔnɔ vɛ na dukɔ, ke fia si klẽa ŋu ɖe zãnuxɔxɔ ŋu la gbãa du.
A king, by justice, shall establish a land, —but, a man open to bribes, bringeth it to ruin.
5 Ame si do fuflugba na ehavi la le ɖɔ ɖom na eya ŋutɔ ƒe afɔ.
A man who flattereth his neighbour, spreadeth, a net, over his steps.
6 Ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe nu vɔ̃ denɛ mɔ me, ke ame dzɔdzɔe adzi ha atso aseye.
In the transgression of a wicked man, is a snare, but, the righteous, doth shout in triumph and rejoice.
7 Ame dzɔdzɔewo tsɔa ɖe le afiatsotso na hiãtɔwo me gake ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ya metsɔa ɖeke le eme o.
The righteous doth acknowledge the plea of the poor, but, the lawless, regardeth not knowledge.
8 Fewuɖulawo dea ʋunyaʋunya du me, ke nunyalawo tsia dziku nu.
Men given to mockery, inflame a city, —but, wise men, turn away anger.
9 Nunyala yi ʋɔnudrɔ̃ƒe kple bometsila, bometsila le adã fiam, le fewu ɖum eye ŋutifafa meli o.
A wise man pleading with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no settlement.
10 Hlɔ̃dolawo lé fu ŋutsu nuteƒewɔla eye wodina be yewoawu dzi dzadzɛ tɔ.
Blood-thirsty men, hate the blameless man, and, as for the upright, they seek his life.
11 Bometsila ɖea eƒe dziku katã fiana, ke nunyala ɖua eɖokui dzi.
All his anger, doth a dullard let go, but, a wise man, by keeping it back, stilleth it.
12 Ne dziɖula ɖo to beblenyawo la, eƒe dɔnunɔlawo katã zua ŋutasẽlawo.
When a ruler giveth heed to the word of falsehood, all his attendants, become lawless.
The poor man and the man of usury, meet together, he that enlighteneth the eyes of them both, is Yahweh.
14 Ne fia drɔ̃ ʋɔnu na hiãtɔ ɖe dzɔdzɔenyenye dzi la, eƒe fiazikpui anɔ dedie ɣe sia ɣi.
When a king judgeth faithfully the poor, his throne, to futurity, shall be established.
A rod with rebuke, giveth wisdom, but, a youth unrestrained, bringeth shame to his mother.
16 Ne ame vɔ̃ɖiwo le dzi ɖum la, nu vɔ̃ hã dea dzi, ke ame dzɔdzɔewo akpɔ woƒe anyidzedze.
When the lawless become great, transgression increaseth, but, the righteous, shall behold, their ruin.
Correct thy son, that he may give thee rest, that he may give delight to thy soul.
18 Afi si ɖeɖefia mele o la, amewo wɔa woƒe lɔlɔ̃nu; ke woayra ame si léa sea me ɖe asi.
Where there is no vision, a people is let loose, but, he that keepeth instruction, how happy is he!
19 Numenya ɖeɖe mate ŋu aɖɔ dɔla ɖo o, togbɔ be ese egɔme hã la, mawɔ ɖe edzi o.
By words, a servant will not be corrected, though he perceiveth, yet is there no answer.
20 Èkpɔ ame si ƒoa nu blablablaa? Mɔkpɔkpɔ geɖe li na bometsila wu eya amea gɔ̃ hã.
Thou hast seen a man hasty in his words, —there is, more hope of a dullard, than of him.
He that dealeth tenderly with his servant from childhood, in his after life, shall have him for a son.
A man given to anger, stirreth up strife, and, he that exceedeth in wrath, aboundeth in transgression.
23 Ŋutsu si dana la ɖua ŋukpe, ke wobua ŋutsu si bɔbɔa eɖokui ɖe anyi le gbɔgbɔ me.
The loftiness of a man, layeth him low, —but, one of a lowly spirit, shall attain unto honour.
He that shareth with a thief, hateth himself, an oath, he heareth, yet may not tell.
25 Vɔvɔ̃ si le ame aɖe me lae nyea mɔ nɛ, ke ame si ka ɖe Yehowa dzi la nɔa dedie.
The fear of man, setteth a snare, but, he that trusteth in Yahweh, shall be placed on high.
26 Ame geɖewo dina be yewoado ɖe dziɖula ŋkume, aƒo nu kplii gake Yehowa gbɔ ame ƒe afiatsotso tsona.
Many, seek the face of a ruler, but, from Yahweh, is the sentence of each one.
27 Nu gbegblẽ wɔla nye ŋunyɔ na ame dzɔdzɔe eye nu dzɔdzɔe wɔla nye ŋunyɔ na ame vɔ̃ɖi.
An abomination to the righteous, is the man of perversity, and, an abomination to the lawless, is a man of straightforward way.
