< Lododowo 15 >
1 Nyaŋuɖoɖo kple gbe bɔbɔe tsia dziku nu, ke nyagbɔgblɔ kple gbedaɖeame nana dɔmedzoe flana.
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
2 Nunyalawo ƒe aɖe ɖea gɔmesese fiana, gake bometsinyawo dona tso bometsila nu glẽglẽglẽ.
The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouths of fools gush out folly.
The LORD’s eyes are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.
4 Aɖe si hea dɔyɔyɔ vɛ la nye agbeti, ke alakpaɖe gbãa gbɔgbɔ gudugudugudu.
A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but deceit in it crushes the spirit.
A fool despises his father’s correction, but he who heeds reproof shows prudence.
6 Kesinɔnu gã aɖe nɔa aƒe me na nunyala, ke ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe hokpɔkpɔ hea dzɔgbevɔ̃e vɛ na wo.
In the house of the righteous is much treasure, but the income of the wicked brings trouble.
7 Nunyalawo ƒe nuyiwo kakaa sidzedze, ke mele alea le bometsilawo ƒe dzi me o.
The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so with the heart of fools.
8 Yehowa léa fu ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe vɔsa, ke dzɔdzɔetɔwo ƒe gbedodoɖa dzea eŋu.
The sacrifice made by the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but the prayer of the upright is his delight.
9 Yehowa léa fu ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe mɔ, ke elɔ̃a ame siwo tia dzɔdzɔenyenye yome la ƒe mɔ.
The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, but he loves him who follows after righteousness.
10 Tohehe sesẽ le ame si tra le mɔ dzi la lalam eye ame si lé fu ɖɔɖɔɖo la aku.
There is stern discipline for one who forsakes the way. Whoever hates reproof shall die.
11 Ku kple tsiẽƒe le nuvo le Yehowa ŋkume, kaka wòahanye amegbetɔwo ƒe dzi! (Sheol )
Sheol and Abaddon are before the LORD— how much more then the hearts of the children of men! (Sheol )
12 Fewuɖula tsri nyagbename eya ta mabia aɖaŋu le nunyalawo gbɔ o.
A scoffer doesn’t love to be reproved; he will not go to the wise.
A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but an aching heart breaks the spirit.
The heart of one who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.
All the days of the afflicted are wretched, but one who has a cheerful heart enjoys a continual feast.
16 Nu sue si ŋu Yehowavɔvɔ̃ kpe ɖo la nyo wu kesinɔnu geɖe si ŋu dzimaɖeɖi le.
Better is little, with the fear of the LORD, than great treasure with trouble.
17 Amagbenuɖuɖu si ŋu lɔlɔ̃ kpe ɖo la nyo wu nyivi dami ɖuɖu si ŋu fuléle kpe ɖo.
Better is a dinner of herbs, where love is, than a fattened calf with hatred.
18 Dɔmedzoetɔ hea mama vɛ, ke dzigbɔɖitɔ tsia dzre nu.
A wrathful man stirs up contention, but one who is slow to anger appeases strife.
19 Ŋuwo le kuviatɔ ƒe mɔ dzi, ke dzɔdzɔetɔ ƒe mɔ nye mɔtata.
The way of the sluggard is like a thorn patch, but the path of the upright is a highway.
20 Viŋutsu nunyala hea dzidzɔ vɛ na fofoa, ke bometsila doa vlo dadaa.
A wise son makes a father glad, but a foolish man despises his mother.
21 Bometsinuwɔwɔ doa dzidzɔ na ame manyanu, ke nugɔmesela léa mɔ ɖeka tsɔna.
Folly is joy to one who is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding keeps his way straight.
Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counsellors they are established.
Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time!
24 Nunyalawo ƒe agbemɔ ɖo ta dzi, be wòakpe ɖe eŋu magaɖiɖi ayi ɖe tsiẽƒe o. (Sheol )
The path of life leads upward for the wise, to keep him from going downward to Sheol. (Sheol )
25 Yehowa gbãa dadalawo ƒe aƒe ƒua anyi, ke enana ahosiwo ƒe liƒo nɔa anyi pɛpɛpɛ.
The LORD will uproot the house of the proud, but he will keep the widow’s borders intact.
26 Yehowa léa fu ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe tameɖoɖo, ke ame siwo dza la tɔ ya doa dzidzɔ nɛ.
The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but the thoughts of the pure are pleasing.
27 Ŋuklẽla hea fukpekpe vaa eƒe aƒe dzi, ke ame si lé fu zãnuxɔxɔ la anɔ agbe.
He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes will live.
28 Ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe dzi daa eƒe nyaŋuɖoɖowo kpɔ, ke nu vɔ̃ɖi doa go tso ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe nu me bababa.
The heart of the righteous weighs answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes out evil.
29 Yehowa le adzɔge na ame vɔ̃ɖiwo, ke esea ame dzɔdzɔewo ƒe gbedodoɖa.
The LORD is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.
30 Mo si kɔ la doa dzidzɔ na dzi, eye nya nyui dea agbe ƒuwo me.
The light of the eyes rejoices the heart. Good news gives health to the bones.
The ear that listens to reproof lives, and will be at home amongst the wise.
He who refuses correction despises his own soul, but he who listens to reproof gets understanding.
33 Yehowavɔvɔ̃ fiaa nunya ame eye ɖokuibɔbɔ doa ŋgɔ na bubu.
The fear of the LORD teaches wisdom. Before honour is humility.
