< Lododowo 12 >
1 Ame si lɔ̃ amehehe la lɔ̃a sidzedze, ke ame si lé fu mokaname la, bometsilae.
He that loves instruction loves sense, but he that hates reproofs is a fool.
2 Yehowa vea ame nyui la nu, ke ebua fɔ ayemenuwɔla ya.
He that has found favour with the Lord [is made] better; but a transgressor shall be passed over in silence.
3 Womatsɔ vɔ̃ɖivɔ̃ɖi aɖo ame gɔme anyii o gake womate ŋu aho ame dzɔdzɔe ya o.
A man shall not prosper by wickedness; but the roots of the righteous shall not be taken up.
4 Srɔ̃nyɔnu zazɛ̃ nye fiakuku na srɔ̃ŋutsua, ke srɔ̃nyɔnu ŋukpenanuwɔla nye ŋuɖui le ƒu tome na srɔ̃a.
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband; but as a worm in wood, so a bad woman destroys her husband.
5 Ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe ɖoɖowo toa mɔ ɖeka, ke ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe aɖaŋuɖoɖo nye beble.
The thoughts of the righteous [are true] judgments; but ungodly men devise deceits.
6 Ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe nyawo le lalam na ʋu gake dzɔdzɔetɔwo ƒe nuƒoƒo ɖea wo.
The words of ungodly men are crafty; but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
7 Wotutua ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒua anyi eye womeganɔa anyi o, ke ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe aƒe lia ke ɖaa.
When the ungodly is overthrown, he vanishes away; but the houses of the just remain.
8 Wokafua ame le nunya si le esi la ta, ke wodoa vlo ŋutsu tagbɔ kuku tɔwo.
The mouth of an understanding [man] is praised by a man; but he that is dull of heart is had in derision.
9 Enyo be nànye ame tsɛ aɖe ko eye subɔla nanɔ asiwò, wu be nàwɔ ɖokuiwò amegãe eye nuɖuɖu manɔ asiwò o.
Better is a man in dishonour serving himself, than one honouring himself and wanting bread.
10 Ame dzɔdzɔe léa be na eƒe lãwo ke dɔmenyo siwo ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ya wɔna la nye ŋutasesẽ.
A righteous man has pity for the lives of his cattle; but the bowels of the ungodly are unmerciful.
11 Ame si ŋlɔ eƒe agble la akpɔ nuɖuɖu geɖe, ke ame si kplɔa blezibledi ɖo la, numanyalae.
He that tills his own land shall be satisfied with bread; but they that pursue vanities are void of understanding. He that enjoys himself in banquets of wine, shall leave dishonour in his own strong holds.
12 Ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe nu siwo woha la le ŋutasẽlawo dzrom, ke ame dzɔdzɔewo ƒe ke ƒona ɖe to sesĩe.
The desires of the ungodly are evil; but the roots of the godly are firmly set.
13 Ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe nu vlo ƒoƒo zua mɔ ɖenɛ, ke ame dzɔdzɔe dona le fu me.
For the sin of [his] lips a sinner falls into snare; but a righteous man escapes from them. He whose looks are gentle shall be pitied, but he that contends in the gates will afflict souls.
14 Ame ƒe nu ƒe kutsetse hea nu nyuiwo vɛ nɛ taŋtaŋtaŋ, eye enye nyateƒe be dɔ si ame tsɔ eƒe asi wɔ lae hea viɖe vɛ nɛ.
The soul of a man shall be filled with good from the fruits of his mouth; and the recompence of his lips shall be given to him.
15 Bometsila ƒe mɔ dzɔna le eya ŋutɔ ƒe ŋkume, ke ame dzɔdzɔe xɔa aɖaŋuɖoɖo.
The ways of fools are right in their own eyes; but a wise man hearkens to counsels.
16 Bometsila ɖea eƒe dziku fiana zi ɖeka, ke nunyala doa toku dzudzu.
A fool declares his wrath the same day; but a prudent man hides his own disgrace.
17 Ɖasefo nyateƒetɔ gblɔa nya si le eteƒe le ʋɔnu, ke aʋatsoɖasefo daa alakpa le ʋɔnu.
A righteous man declares the open truth; but an unjust witness is deceitful.
18 Nya vlowo ƒona ɖe ame abe yi ene, ke ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe aɖe hea dɔyɔyɔ vɛ.
Some wound as they speak, [like] swords; but the tongues of the wise heal.
19 Nyateƒenuyiwo nɔa anyi ɖikaa, ke alakpaɖe nu mesena yina o.
True lips establish testimony; but a hasty witness has an unjust tongue.
20 Beble le ame siwo ɖoa nu vɔ̃ɖi la ƒe dzi me, ke dzidzɔ nɔa ame siwo hea ŋutifafa vɛ la ƒe dzi me.
[There is] deceit in the heart of him that imagines evil; but they that love peace shall rejoice.
21 Dzɔgbevɔ̃e medzɔna ɖe ame dzɔdzɔe dzi o, ke ame vɔ̃ɖiwo la, xaxa yɔa wo me fũu.
No injustice will please a just man; but the ungodly will be filled with mischief.
22 Yehowa lé fu alakpanuyiwo, ke ekpɔa dzidzɔ ɖe ame siwo toa nyateƒe la ŋu.
Lying lips are a abomination to the Lord; but he that deals faithfully is accepted with him.
23 Nunyala mekɔa nu le sidzedze si su esi la dzi o, ke bometsilawo ƒe dzi ɖea gbeƒã woƒe bometsitsi.
An understanding man is a throne of wisdom; but the heart of fools shall meet with curses.
24 Asi si doa vevi nu la aɖu fia, ke kuviawɔwɔ kplɔa ame ɖona ɖe dɔ sesẽ me.
The hand of chosen men shall easily obtain rule; but the deceitful shall be for a prey.
25 Nuxaxa le dzi me tea ame ɖe anyi, ke amenuvenya dea dzi ƒo na ame.
A terrible word troubles the heart of a righteous man; but a good message rejoices him.
26 Ame dzɔdzɔe ɖoa ŋu ɖo le xɔlɔ̃wɔwɔ me, ke ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe mɔ kplɔa wo tranae.
A just arbitrator shall be his own friend; but mischief shall pursue sinners; and the way of ungodly men shall lead them astray.
27 Kuviatɔ memea eƒe adelã o, ke nunyala léa be na eƒe nunɔamesiwo.
A deceitful man shall catch no game; but a blameless man is a precious possession.
28 Agbe le dzɔdzɔenyenye ƒe mɔ me, makumaku le mɔ ma dzi.
In the ways of righteousness is life; but the ways of those that remember injuries [lead] to death.
