< Lododowo 10 >
The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.
2 Kesinɔnu si wokpɔ to mɔ fitifitiwo dzi la menye viɖe aɖeke o, gake dzɔdzɔnyenye ɖea ame tso ku me.
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.
3 Yehowa menaa dɔ wua ame dzɔdzɔewo o, ke egblẽa ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe didiwo me.
Jehovah will not allow the soul of a righteous man to famish, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked.
4 Asi si wɔa kuvia la nana ame ɖoa ko gake asi si doa vevi nu la hea kesinɔnu vɛ.
He who works with a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
5 Ame si ƒoa nukuwo nu ƒu le dzomeŋɔli la nye vi nyanu, ke ame si dɔa alɔ̃ le nuŋeɣi la, vi ŋukpenuwɔlae.
He who gathers in summer is a wise son. He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.
6 Yayra anye fiakuku anɔ ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe ta ke ŋutasesẽ yɔa ame vɔ̃ ƒe nu me.
Blessings are upon the head of a righteous man, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
7 Ŋkuɖoɖo ame dzɔdzɔe dzi anye yayra, ke ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe ŋkɔ aƒaƒã.
The memory of a righteous man is blessed, but the name of the wicked shall rot.
The wise in heart will receive commandments, but a prating fool shall fall.
9 Ame si ŋu fɔɖiɖi mele o la zɔna le dedinɔnɔ me, ke asi atu ame si toa mɔ gɔglɔ̃wo dzi.
He who walks uprightly walks securely, but he who perverts his ways shall be known.
He who winks with the eye causes sorrow. And a prating fool shall fall.
11 Ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe nu nye agbevudo, ke ŋutasesẽ yɔa ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe nu me.
The mouth of a righteous man is a fountain of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
12 Fuléle hea mama vɛ, gake lɔlɔ̃ tsyɔa dzidadawo katã dzi.
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all transgressions.
13 Nunya le nugɔmeselawo ƒe nuyi dzi, ke ameƒoti adze dzime na numanyalawo.
In the lips of him who has discernment wisdom is found, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.
14 Nunyalawo dzraa gɔmesese ɖo, ke bometsila ƒe nu hea gbegblẽ vɛ.
Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of a foolish man is a present destruction.
15 Kesinɔtɔwo ƒe kesinɔnuwo nye du si ŋu wotɔ glikpɔ sesẽ ɖo, ke hiãtɔwo ƒe ahedada nye woƒe gbegblẽ.
The rich man's wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16 Ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe dɔwɔfetu hea agbe vɛ nɛ, gake ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe viɖe hea tohehe vɛ nɛ.
The labor of a righteous man produces life. The fruit of a wicked man is to sin.
He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof errs.
He who hides hatred is of lying lips. And he who utters a slander is a fool.
19 Afi si nya geɖe le la, nu vɔ̃ megbea afi ma nɔnɔ o, ke ame si lé eƒe aɖe la, nunyalae.
Transgression is not lacking in the multitude of words, but he who refrains his lips does wisely.
20 Ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe aɖe le abe klosalo nyuitɔ ene, ke viɖe mele ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe dzi ŋu o.
The tongue of a righteous man is choice silver. The heart of the wicked is little worth.
21 Ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe nuyi hea nunyiame vɛ na ame geɖewo, gake bometsilawo kuna le simadzemadze ta.
The lips of a righteous man feeds many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.
22 Yehowa ƒe yayra hea kesinɔnu vɛ, eye metsɔa fukpekpe aɖeke kpena ɖe eŋu o.
The blessing of Jehovah, it makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
23 Bometsila kpɔa dzidzɔ le nu tovo wɔwɔ ŋu, ke ame si sea nu gɔme la, nunyae nye eƒe dzidzɔ.
It is as sport to a fool to do mischief, and so is wisdom to a man of understanding.
24 Nu si vɔ̃m ame vɔ̃ɖi le lae ava tui, ke nu si dim dzɔdzɔetɔ le la, eyae woanae.
The fear of a wicked man shall come upon him. And the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
25 Ne ahomya ƒo va yi la, ame vɔ̃ɖi la maganɔ anyi o, ke ame dzɔdzɔe ya anɔ te sesĩe ɖaa.
When the whirlwind passes, the wicked man is no more, but the righteous man is an everlasting foundation.
26 Abe ale si aha tsitsi nɔna na aɖu eye dzudzɔ nɔna na ŋku ene la, nenema kuviatɔ le na ame siwo dɔ dɔe.
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
27 Yehowavɔvɔ̃ nana agbe didina. Ke ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe agbenɔƒewo le kpuie.
The fear of Jehovah prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28 Ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe viɖee nye dzidzɔ gake ame vɔ̃ɖiwo ƒe mɔkpɔkpɔ zua dzodzro.
The hope of the righteous is gladness, but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
29 Yehowa ƒe mɔ nye sitsoƒe na ame dzɔdzɔe, ke enye gbegblẽ na nu tovo wɔlawo.
The way of Jehovah is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.
30 Womaho ame dzɔdzɔe la akpɔ gbeɖe o gake ame vɔ̃ɖi ya manɔ anyigba la dzi o.
A righteous man shall never be removed, but the wicked shall not dwell in the land.
31 Nunya dona tso dzɔdzɔetɔ la ƒe nu me, gake woalã alakpaɖe la ɖa.
The mouth of a righteous man brings forth wisdom, but the perverse tongue shall be cut off.
32 Ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe nuyiwo nya nya dzeto gbɔgblɔ, gake ame vɔ̃ɖi ƒe nu gblɔa nya tovowo.
The lips of a righteous man knows what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked is perverseness.
