< Mose 4 23 >
1 Balaam gblɔ na Fia Balak be, “Tu vɔsamlekpui adre ɖe afi sia, eye nàdi nyitsuvi adre kple agbo adre na vɔsawo.”
Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars here for me and prepare seven bulls and seven rams.”
2 Balak wɔ ɖe Balaam ƒe ɖoɖowo dzi, eye wòtsɔ nyitsuvi ɖeka kple agbo ɖeka sa vɔe ɖe vɔsamlekpuiawo dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe dzi.
So Balak did as Balaam requested. Then Balak and Balaam offered a bull and a ram on every altar.
3 Balaam gblɔ na Balak be, “Nɔ afi sia le wò numevɔsa gbɔ esime meɖe kpɔ. Ɖewohĩ Yehowa ava do gom. Nu sia nu si wòaɖe afiam la, magblɔe na wò.” Ale wòyi togbɛ ƒeƒle aɖe dzi.
Then Balaam said to Balak, “Stand at your burnt offering and I will go. Perhaps Yahweh will come to meet me. Whatever he shows me I will tell you.” So he went away to a hilltop with no trees.
4 Mawu do goe, eye Balaam gblɔ nɛ be, “Metu vɔsamlekpui adre, eye metsɔ nyitsu ɖeka kple agbo ɖeka sa vɔe ɖe vɔsamlekpui ɖe sia ɖe dzi.”
While he was on the hilltop, God met him, and Balaam said to him, “I have built seven altars, and I have offered up a bull and a ram on each one.”
5 Yehowa gblɔ nya aɖe na Balaam be wòagblɔ na Fia Balak.
Yahweh put a message in Balaam's mouth and said, “Return to Balak and speak to him.”
6 Esi Balaam trɔ gbɔ la, fia la kple Moab fiaviwo katã wonɔ tsitre ɖe numevɔsawo gbɔ.
So Balaam returned to Balak, who was standing by his burnt offering, and all the leaders of Moab were with him.
7 Nya siwo Balaam gblɔ la woe nye: “Fia Balak, Moabtɔwo ƒe fia, kplɔm tso Aramnyigba dzi, tso ɣedzeƒetowo dzi hegblɔ nam be. ‘Va, nàƒo fi ade Yakob nam! Eye va nàdo ɖiŋu na Israel nam. Wò dɔmedzoe nabi ɖe Israel ŋu.’
Then Balaam began to speak his prophecy and said, “Balak has brought me from Aram, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains. 'Come, curse Jacob for me,' he said. 'Come, defy Israel.'
8 Ke ame siwo Mawu meƒo fi de o la, aleke nye ya maƒo fi ade woe? Ame siwo gbɔ Yehowa megbe nu le o la, aleke nye ya magbe nu le wo gbɔe?
How can I curse those whom God has not cursed? How can I oppose those whom Yahweh does not oppose?
9 Mele wo kpɔm tso agakpe tame. Melé ŋku ɖe wo ŋu tso togbɛwo dzi, wole wo ɖokui si, nye dukɔ tɔxɛ aɖe. Si mebua eɖokui kple dukɔ bubuwo o.
For from the top of the rocks I see him; from the hills I look at him. See, there is a people who live alone and do not consider themselves as just an ordinary nation.
10 Ame ka ate ŋu axlẽ Yakob ƒe ʋuʋudedi, alo axlẽ Israel ƒe akpa enelia? Na maku ame dzɔdzɔe ƒe ku, eye nye nuwuwu nanɔ abe wo tɔ ene!”
Who can count the dust of Jacob or number even only one-fourth of Israel? Let me die the death of a righteous person, and let my life's end be like his!”
11 Fia Balak bia Balaam be, “Ao! Nu kae nye esi nèwɔm? Mebe nàƒo fi ade nye futɔwo nam, ke kpɔ ɖa, èyra wo boŋ!”
Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but look, you have blessed them.”
12 Balaam ɖo eŋu be, “Ɖe mate ŋu agblɔ nya aɖe ne Yehowa megblɔe nam be magblɔ oa?”
Balaam answered and said, “Should I not be careful to say only what Yahweh puts in my mouth?”
13 Balak gblɔ nɛ be, “Va míyi teƒe bubu. Le afi ma la, àkpɔ Israel dukɔ la ƒe akpa aɖe ko. Ƒo fi de ame mawo ɖeɖe ko nam!”
So Balak said to him, “Please come with me to another place where you can see them. You will only see the nearest of them, not all of them. There you will curse them for me.”
So he took Balaam into the field of Zophim, to the top of Mount Pisgah, and built seven more altars. He offered up a bull and a ram on each altar.
15 Balaam gblɔ na Balak be, “Tsi tsitre ɖe afi sia, ɖe wò numevɔsa la gbɔ ne mayi aɖado go Yehowa.”
Then Balaam said to Balak, “Stand here by your burnt offering, while I meet with Yahweh over there.”
16 Yehowa do go Balaam, eye wòde nya asi nɛ be, “Trɔ yi Balak gbɔ nàgblɔ nya sia nɛ.”
So Yahweh met Balaam and put a message in his mouth. He said, “Return to Balak and give him my message.”
17 Balaam trɔ va afi si Moab fia kple Moab fiaviŋutsuwo le tsitre ɖe woƒe numevɔsawo gbɔ le. Balak bia enumake be, “Nya ka Yehowa gblɔ?”
Balaam returned to him, and look, he was standing by his burnt offering, and the leaders of Moab were with him. Then Balak said to him, “What has Yahweh said?”
18 Balaam ɖo eŋu be, “Balak, Tsi tsitre eye nàsee: Ɖo tom, wò Zipɔr ƒe vi.
Balaam began his prophecy. He said, “Rise up, Balak, and hear. Listen to me, you son of Zippor.
19 Mawu menye amegbetɔ, aka aʋatso o. Metrɔa eƒe tameɖoɖo. Abe amegbetɔwo ene o. Ɖe wòdo ŋugbe kpɔ gbe edziwɔwɔa?
God is not a man, that he should lie, Or a human being, that he should change his mind. Has he promised anything without doing it? Has he said he would do something without carrying it out?
20 Kpɔ ɖa, Mawu ɖe gbe nam be mayra Israelviwo. Mawu ŋutɔ yra wo xoxo, nyemate ŋu aklo yayra sia ɖa o!
Look, I have been commanded to bless. God has given a blessing, and I cannot reverse it.
21 “Mekpɔ nu vɔ̃ le Yakob me o: mawɔ funyafunya Israel o! Yehowa, woƒe Mawu la li kpli wo. Eye dzidzɔɣli le wo nu, eyae nye woƒe fia!
He has seen no hardship in Jacob or trouble in Israel. Yahweh their God is with them, and shouts for their king are among them.
22 Mawu kplɔ wo tso Egipte; Israel sẽ abe to ene. Fiƒode aɖeke mate ŋu anɔ Yakob dzi o,
God brought them out of Egypt with strength like that of a wild ox.
23 dzoka maɖi Yakob ŋu o. Ne wosa vɔ kɔ ɖe Israelviwo dzi hã la, maɖi wo ŋu akpɔ o, elabena woagblɔ le Israel ŋu azɔ be, ‘Mawu wɔ nu gãwo na wo!
There is no sorcery that works against Jacob, and no fortune-telling harms Israel. Instead, it must be said about Jacob and Israel, 'Look what God has done!'
24 Ame siawo tsi tsitre abe dzatanɔ ene; womamlɔ anyi o. Va se ɖe esime woaɖu nu si wolé. Eye woano nu si wolé la ƒe ʋu!’”
Look, the people rise like a lioness, as a lion emerges and attacks. He does not lie down until he eats his victim and drinks the blood of what he has killed.”
25 Balak blu ɖe Balaam ta be, “Ne mànya ƒo fi ade wo o ko la, ekema mègayra wo hã o!”
Then Balak said to Balaam, “Do not curse them or bless them at all.”
26 Balaam ɖo eŋu be, “Ɖe nyemegblɔe na wò be nya sia nya si Yehowa agblɔ nam be magblɔ la ko wòle be magblɔ oa?”
But Balaam answered and said to Balak, “Did I not tell you that I must say all that Yahweh tells me to say?”
27 Balak gagblɔ na Balaam le eƒe nyagblɔɖi etɔ̃lia ŋu be, “Makplɔ wò agayi teƒe bubu aɖee. Ɖewohĩ adze Mawu ŋu be wòana nàƒo fi ade wo tso afi ma azɔ.”
So Balak replied to Balaam, “Come now, I will take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God for you to curse them there for me.”
28 Ale Fia Balak kplɔ Balaam yi Peor to la dzi le gbegbe la tame.
So Balak took Balaam to the top of Mount Peor, which looks down on the wilderness.
29 Balaam gagblɔ na Balak be wòatu vɔsamlekpui adre, eye wòatsɔ nyitsuvi adre kple agbo adre asa vɔe.
Balaam said to Balak, “Build me seven altars here and prepare seven bulls and seven rams.”
30 Balak wɔ nu si Balaam ɖo nɛ la, eye wòtsɔ nyitsuvi ɖeka kple agbo ɖeka sa vɔe ɖe vɔsamlekpuiawo dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe dzi.
So Balak did as Balaam had said; he offered up a bull and a ram on each altar.
