< Nahum 2 >
1 Ninive, futɔwo ƒe asrafowo ƒo ɖe dziwò vɔ. Kpɔ wò mɔ sẽsewo ta. Wò ŋkuwo nenɔ mɔ la ŋu. Mibla ali dzi sesĩe eye miƒo aʋawɔlawo nu ƒu.
He who dashes in pieces has come up against thee. Keep the fortress. Watch the way. Make thy loins strong. Fortify thy power mightily.
2 Yehowa agbugbɔ Yakob ƒe atsyɔ̃ nɛ, eye wòanɔ abe Israel tɔ ene. Togbɔ be futɔwo gblẽ wò, Yakob ƒe anyigba, eye woha wò waingblewo hã.
For Jehovah restores the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel, for the emptiers have emptied them out, and destroyed their vine-branches.
The shield of his mighty men is made red. The valiant men are in scarlet. The chariots flash with steel in the day of his preparation, and the cypress spears are brandished.
4 Tasiaɖamwo le zi nyem le mɔtatawo dzi, eye wole du ƒum le ablɔwo me le yiyim le gbɔgbɔm. Woƒe dzedzeme le abe akakatiwo ene, eye wole dzo kem abe dzikedzo ene.
The chariots rage in the streets; they rush to and fro in the broad ways. The appearance of them is like torches. They run like the lightnings.
5 Fia la ado ɣli ayɔ eƒe aʋafiawo; woanɔ du dzi anɔ anyi dzem, anɔ fɔfɔm be yewoayi aɖaɖo gli sesẽwo, ale be futɔwo mate ŋu akpɔ mɔ ava o.
He remembers his nobles. They stumble in their march. They make haste to the wall of it, and the mantelet is prepared.
6 Agbo si le tɔsisi la nu la aʋu siaa, eye fiasã la ƒe gliwo anye kpo, amu adze anyi.
The gates of the rivers are opened, and the palace is dissolved.
7 Woɖe gbe be woaɖe aboyo dua me tɔwo. Eƒe kosiviwo anɔ xɔxlɔ̃m abe ahɔnɛ ene, eye woanɔ akɔta ƒom.
And it is decreed. She is uncovered. She is carried away, and her handmaids moan as with the voice of doves, beating upon their breasts.
8 Ninive le abe ta si ƒe tsi le sisim ene. Ne woado ɣli be: “Mitɔ, mitɔ,” la, ame aɖeke manye kɔ akpɔ megbe o.
But Nineveh has been from of old like a pool of water. Yet they flee away. Stand, stand, they cry, but none looks back.
9 Miha klosalowo! Mìha sika! Kesinɔnuwo sɔ gbɔ fũu, xexlẽme meli na nu xɔasi siawo o.
Take ye the spoil of silver. Take the spoil of gold. For there is no end of the store, the glory of all goodly furniture.
She is empty, and void, and waste. And the heart melts, and the knees smite together, and anguish is in all loins, and the faces of them all have grown pale.
11 Afi ka dzatawo ƒe do la le azɔ? Afi si wonyia dzataviwo le, afi si dzatatsu kple dzatanɔ kple dzatavi ɖia tsa le vɔvɔ̃manɔmee ɖe?
Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding-place of the young lions, where the lion and the lioness walked, the lion's whelp, and none made them afraid?
12 Dzatatsu léa nu si ade viawo kple dzatanɔ nu; etsɔa nuléleawo yɔa eƒe mlɔƒe kple eƒe dowo me fũu.
The lion tore in pieces enough for his whelps, and strangled for his lionesses, and filled his caves with prey, and his dens with prey.
13 Yehowa, Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ la gblɔ be: “Metso ɖe ŋuwò; matɔ dzo wò tasiaɖamwo, eye wò dzataviwo atsi yi nu. Nyemagblẽ ame aɖeke ɖe anyigba dzi nàgada adzoe o, eye womagase wò ame dɔdɔwo ƒe gbe le teƒe aɖeke azɔ o.”
Behold, I am against thee, says Jehovah of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions. And I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.
