A message about Nineveh, a vision which came to Nahum from Elkosh.
2 Yehowa nye Mawu ʋãŋu kple hlɔ̃biala. Ebiaa hlɔ̃, eye wòyɔ fũu kple dɔmedzoe. Yehowa biaa hlɔ̃ eƒe ketɔwo, eye wòléa dziku ɖi na eƒe futɔwo.
The Lord tolerates no rivals. The Lord is vengeful and fierce in wrath. The Lord does not fail to punish his foes; the Lord is vengeful against his enemies.
3 Yehowa medoa dziku kaɖikaɖi o, ŋusẽ triakɔ le esi, eye magbe tohehe na agɔdzela o. Eƒe mɔwo to ahom kple ya sẽsewo me, eye lilikpowoe nye eƒe afɔ ƒe ʋuʋudedi.
The Lord is slow to anger, great in power. The guilty will not escape his punishment. Storm tempest is his path and cloud is the dust of his feet.
4 Eblu ɖe atsiaƒu ta wòmie, eye wòna tɔsisiwo me ƒu kplakplakpla. Basan kple Karmel ƒe lãnyiƒe damawo zu gbegbe, eye Lebanon ƒe ave damawo zu dzogbe.
He rebukes the sea and dries it up and makes all the streams run dry. Bashan and Carmel are languishing and the bloom of Lebanon is withered.
5 Towo ʋuʋu kpekpekpe, eye togbɛwo lolõ gbanaa le eŋkume, anyigba kple edzinɔlawo katã ʋuʋu le eŋkume.
The mountains tremble before him and the hills dissolve. The earth heaves before him, the world and all who live in it.
6 Ame ka ate ŋu anɔ te ɖe eƒe dziku nu? Ame ka ate ŋu anɔ te ɖe eƒe dɔmedzoe helĩhelĩ la nu? Ekɔ eƒe dɔmedzoe ɖe anyi abe dzo ene, eye agakpewo kaka le eŋkume.
Who can stand before his wrath? Who can withstand the heat of his anger? His fierce fury pours forth like fire, he shatters rocks.
7 Yehowa nyo, elabena enye sitsoƒe le xaxa me! Eléa be na ame si xɔa edzi sena.
The Lord is good to those who hope in him, a place of refuge in the day of trouble.
8 Ke atsrɔ̃ Ninive kple tɔɖɔɖɔ, eye wòanya eƒe futɔwo aɖo ɖe viviti me.
With rushing flood an end he makes of those who rise against him, he drives his enemies into darkness.
9 Nugbe ɖe sia ɖe si woɖo ɖe Yehowa ŋu la, mana wòadze edzi o, ke boŋ gbegblẽ mava na wo zi evelia o.
Why do you plot against the Lord? He will end you. He only takes vengeance once.
10 Woabla wo ɖe ŋuve me, woano woawo ŋutɔ ƒe wain amu, eye woabi abe gbe ƒuƒu ene.
Thorns, tangled and drenched, they are consumed like dry stubble.
11 O Ninive, mewòe ame si ɖo nugbe ɖe Yehowa ŋu, eye wòɖo aɖaŋu vlo na amewo la do tso.
Nineveh! From you has arisen one who plots evil against the Lord, a counsellor of wickedness.
12 Ale Yehowa gblɔe nye esi: “Togbɔ be wosɔ gbɔ, eye kpeɖeŋutɔwo le wo si hã la, wo katã woatsrɔ̃, eye wo nu ava ayi. O Yuda, togbɔ be mede abi ŋuwò hã la, nyemagade abi ŋuwò azɔ o.
The Lord says: “Though they are many and strong, they will pass away and be gone. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more,
13 Azɔ la, maŋe kɔkuti le wò kɔ, eye matu ka wò tso bablawo me.”
and now I will break his yoke from your necks and snap your chains.”
The Lord has given this command concerning you, Nineveh: “Your name will no longer be remembered. I will destroy every idol and image in the house of your God. I will destroy even your tomb, for you are worthless.”
15 Kpɔ ɖa, dɔlawo tso towo dzi gbɔna kple nya nyui, eye wole gbeƒã ɖem ŋutifafa! O Yuda, ɖu wò ŋkekenyuiwo, eye nàxe wò adzɔgbeɖefewo. Ame vɔ̃ɖiwo magava aha wò azɔ o, elabena woatsrɔ̃ wo keŋkeŋ.
Look! On the mountains a messenger bringing good news, announcing peace! “Celebrate the feasts, Judah, fulfill your vows. Never again will these enemies invade your land, they are destroyed!”
