< Malaki 3 >
‘I am about to send my messenger and he will clear a path before me: And the Lord, who you are seeking, will suddenly come to his temple. The messenger of the covenant who you long for is already coming, says the Lord of hosts.
2 “Ame ka ado dzi anɔ anyi ne eva do? Ame ka anɔ te ɖe eƒe vava nu? Elabena ele abe dzo si wotsɔna loloa ga ene eye wòle abe adzalẽ si wotsɔna nyaa avɔ wòɖina keŋkeŋ la ene!
But who can endure the day of his coming? And who will stand firm when he appears? He is like a refiner’s fire, and like a launderer’s soap,
3 Anɔ anyi abe sika kple klosalo klɔla ene eye wòaklɔ Levi ƒe dzidzimeviwo ŋuti woadza abe sika alo klosalo ene, ale be woate ŋu asa vɔ na Yehowa le dzɔdzɔenyenye me.
and he will sit as a refiner and purifier. He will purify the descendants of Levi, and refine them like gold and silver, until they are fit to bring offerings to the Lord.
4 Ekema Yehowa agaxɔ Yuda kple Yerusalemtɔwo ƒe vɔsa abe tsã ene.
Then will the offerings of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant to the Lord, as in the days of old, and as in former years.
5 “Le ɣe ma ɣi me la, nye ʋɔnudɔdrɔ̃ kple tohehe atsɔ ŋutɔ. Manye ɖasefo zazɛ̃ aɖe ɖe nukalawo, ahasiwɔlawo, atam dzodzro kalawo, ame siwo baa woƒe dɔwɔviwo, ame siwo tea ahosiwo kple tsyɔ̃eviwo ɖe to, ame siwo baa amedzrowo kple ame siwo mevɔ̃am o la ŋu.” Yehowa Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ lae gblɔe.
‘I will come to you in judgment. I will be quick to testify against the sorcerers, adulterers, perjurers, those who cheat workers, or widows, or orphans, deny justice to immigrants, and do not fear me,’ says the Lord of hosts.
6 “Nyee nye Yehowa, nyemetrɔna gbeɖe o, eya tae mi Yakob ƒe dzidzimeviwo mietsrɔ̃ haɖe o, elabena nye nublanuikpɔkpɔ li ɖaa.
‘For I, the Lord, do not change; and you have not ceased to be descendants of Jacob.’
7 “Tso keke mia tɔgbuitɔgbuiwo ŋɔli ke la, miegbea nu le nye seawo gbɔ eye miewɔa wo dzi o. Mitrɔ ɖe ŋunye eye nye hã matrɔ ɖe mia ŋu.” Yehowa Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ lae gblɔe. “Ke miebia be, ‘Aleke míawɔ atrɔ ɖe ŋutiwòe?’
‘From the days of your ancestors, you have turned aside from my statutes, and you have not kept them. Turn to me and I will turn to you,’ says the Lord. ‘You say, “How should we turn?”
8 “Ɖe amegbetɔ ate ŋu ada adzo Mawu hafi miawo ya mieda adzom mahã? “Ke míebia be, ‘Aleke míeda adzo wòe?’ “Mieda adzo nye nu ewolia kple nunana siwo nye tɔnye la eye mietsɔa wo nam o.
Can a human rob God? Yet you robbed me. You ask, “How have we robbed you?” In tithes and gifts!
9 “Mawu ƒe fiƒode dziŋɔ le mia dzi elabena dukɔ blibo lae le bayem.
You – your entire nation – are all cursed, because you rob me.
10 Mitsɔ miaƒe nu ewoliawo katã va nudzraɖoƒe lae ale be nuɖuɖu nasɔ gbɔ ɖe nye gbedoxɔ me. Mitsɔ esia dom kpɔ be nyemaʋu dziƒo nu akɔ yayra ɖe mia dzi fũu ale gbegbe be miaƒe nuɖuɖudzraɖoƒe ayɔ agbagba o mahã? Yehowa, Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ lae gblɔe.
‘Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there is food in my house. Test me in this way. See if I will not open to you the windows of the sky, and pour you out a blessing, until there is more than enough.
11 Made se na nu siwo gblẽa agblemenukuwo la be womagblẽ míaƒe agblemenukuwo o, eye miaƒe wain tsetsewo magblẽ adudu hafi woƒe ɖiɖiɣi naɖo o.” Yehowa Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ lae gblɔe.
I will rebuke for your sakes the devouring locust and he will not destroy your crops, nor will the vine fail to ripen its fruit in the field, says the Lord of hosts,
12 “Ale dukɔwo katã ayɔ mi be yayramewo elabena dzidzɔkpɔkpɔ deto axɔ aƒe ɖe mia me.” Esiawoe Yehowa Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ la gblɔ.
and all nations will call you happy, for you will be a delightful land,’ says the Lord of hosts.
13 “Yehowa be, ‘Miegblɔ nya vlowo ɖe ŋutinye’, “Gake miebiam be, ‘Nya kae míegblɔ ɖe ŋutiwò si mele be míagblɔ o?’
‘You have said terrible things about me,’ says the Lord. ‘You ask, “What have we said about you?”
14 “Miegblɔ be, ‘Enye nu dzodzro be woasubɔ Mawu. Viɖe ka míekpɔ to eƒe sewo dzi wɔwɔ me eye míezɔ le Yehowa, Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ la ƒe ŋkume abe konyifalawo ene?’
You have said, “It is useless to serve God, and what do we gain from the Lord of hosts by keeping his commands, and walking mournfully in funeral garb before him?
15 Gake azɔ la, míegblɔna be, ‘Woyraa dadalawo. Nu dzea edzi na nu vɔ̃ wɔlawo, gawu la, ne wote Mawu kpɔ la, tohehe mevaa wo dzi o.’
So now we call the proud happy, evildoers thrive: they dare God and escape unharmed.”’
16 “Ke ame siwo vɔ̃ Yehowa, eye wolɔ̃e la ƒo nu nyui tso eŋuti na wo nɔewo eye Mawu ɖo to eye wòsee. Ena woŋlɔ ame siwo vɔ̃e, eye wolɔ̃e la ƒe ŋkɔwo ɖe ŋkuɖodzigbalẽ gã aɖe me da ɖi.”
Such things those who revered the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord took notice, and a record was written before him of those who revered the Lord and those who keep in mind his name.
17 Ale Yehowa, Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ la gblɔ tso wo ŋutie nye esi: “Woanye tɔnye le ŋkeke ma dzi ne mele ƒu ƒom nye nu xɔasiwo. Abe ale si ŋutsu léa be na ɖevi si ɖoa toe ene la, nenema ke malé be na woe.
‘They will be mine,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘my special possession on that day that I am preparing. I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him.
18 Ekema miakpɔ vovototo si le ale si Mawu wɔna na ame dzɔdzɔe siwo ɖoa toe kple ame vɔ̃ɖi siwo meɖoa toe o la dome.”
Once again my people will see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between the person who serves God and the person who does not.’
