1 Gbe ɖeka le Dzudzɔgbe ŋkekea dzi esi Yesu kple eƒe nusrɔ̃lawo zɔ to bligble aɖewo me va yina la, nusrɔ̃lawo ŋe bli aɖewo, klẽ tsro le wo ŋu henɔ ɖuɖum.
It happened that on a Sabbath he was going through the wheat-fields. His disciples were picking the ears and eating the wheat, rubbing it out with their hands.
2 Farisitɔ aɖewo nɔ afi ma kpɔ wo, eye wogblɔ na Yesu be, “Nu ka ta miewɔ nu si mele se nu be woawɔ le Dzudzɔgbe ŋkeke dzi o mahã?”
And some of the Pharisees asked, "Why are you doing what it is not lawful to do on the Sabbath?"
3 Yesu ɖo eŋu na wo be, “Alo miexlẽ nu tso nu si David wɔ esi dɔ wu eya kple eŋutimewo ŋu oa?
"Have you never read," answered Jesus, "what David did when he and his followers were hungry?

"How he entered into God’s house and took and ate the Presented Loaves, and gave some to his followers, loaves which none must eat but the priests?
5 Yesu gblɔ kpe ɖe eŋu be, “Nye Amegbetɔ Vi lae nye Aƒetɔ na Dzudzɔgbe ŋkeke la gɔ̃ hã.”
"THE SON OF MAN," he told them, "IS LORD EVEN OVER THE SABBATH."
6 Le Dzudzɔgbe bubu gbe esi wònɔ nu fiam le ƒuƒoƒe la, ekpɔ ame aɖe si tsitsi lé asi na la le afi ma.
On another Sabbath he went into a synagogue and was teaching; and there was there a man whose right hand was withered.

Now the Scribes and Pharisees kept watching to see if he would heal on the Sabbath, so that they might be able to bring on accusations to him.

He was all along aware of their thoughts; and he said to the man with the withered hand, "Rise, and stand there in the midst."

So he rose and stood. Then Jesus said to them. "I ask you whether it is lawful on the Sabbath Day to do good or to do harm? To save a life or to destroy it?"
10 Etsa ŋku le wo katã dzi ɖekaɖeka, eye wògblɔ na ŋutsua be, “Dzɔ wò asi.” Edzɔ asia kasia eƒe asi gaɖɔ ɖo.
Then he looked round about on them in anger, and said to him, "Stretch out your hand!"

He did so; and his hand was restored. But they were filled with fury, and they began to talk over together what they could do to Jesus.

With these he came down till he reached a level place, where there was a great crowd of his disciples and a great many people from all Judea and Jerusalem and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon. These came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases.
