1 O, Yehowa, ɖo ŋku nu si dzɔ ɖe mía dzi la dzi, ɖo ŋku anyi eye nàkpɔ míaƒe ŋukpe ɖa.
Remember, Yahweh, what has happened to us; look and see our disgrace.
2 Wotsɔ míaƒe domenyinu, na amedzrowo eye wotsɔ míaƒe aƒewo na du bubu me tɔwo.
Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers; our houses to foreigners.
3 Míezu tsyɔ̃eviwo kple tɔmanɔsitɔwo eye mía nɔwo zu ahosiwo.
We have become orphans, the fatherless, and our mothers are like widows.
4 Ɖe míedzea tsi hafi nona eye ɖe míeƒlea míawo ŋutɔ ƒe nake.
We must pay silver for the water we drink, and we must pay silver to get our own wood.
5 Ame siwo ti mía yome la gogo, ɖeɖi te mía ŋu, ke gbɔɖeme meli o.
Those who are coming after us are close behind us; we are weary and we can find no rest.
6 Míetsɔ mía ɖokui dzra na Egipte kple Asiria be míakpɔ abolo aɖu.
We have given ourselves to Egypt and to Assyria to get enough food.
7 Mía fofowo wɔ nu vɔ̃ eye womegale agbe o gake woƒe tohehe va mía dzi.
Our fathers sinned, and they are no more, and we bear their iniquities.
8 Kluviwo ɖu amegã ɖe mía dzi eye ame aɖeke meli axɔ mí le woƒe asi me o.
Slaves rule over us, and there is no one to deliver us from their hand.
9 Míetsɔ míaƒe agbe ɖo anyi hafi kpɔa abolo ɖuna, le yi si le gbegbe la ta.
We get our bread only by risking our lives, because of the sword in the wilderness.
10 Míaƒe ŋutilã xɔ dzo abe kpodzo ene eye asrã lé mí le dɔwuame ta.
Our skin has grown as hot as an oven because of the burning heat of hunger.
11 Wogblẽ Zion nyɔnuwo kple ɖetugbi manyaŋutsuwo le Yuda duwo me.
Women are raped in Zion, and virgins in the cities of Judah.
12 Wobla dumegãwo tsɔ ku ati eye womede bubu ame tsitsiwo ŋu o.
Princes are hung up by their own hands, and no honor is shown to the elders.
13 Ɖekakpuiwo le te tum atraɖii, eye ŋutsuviwo le ŋeŋem le nakegba te.
Young men are forced to grind grain with a millstone, and boys stagger under heavy loads of wood.
14 Ame tsitsiwo vɔ le agbonu eye ɖekakpuiwo ƒe hadzidzi nu tso.
The elders have left the city gate, and the young men have left their music.
15 Dzidzɔ vavã dzo le míaƒe dziwo me eye míaƒe ɣeɖuɖu trɔ zu nuxaxa.
The joy of our heart has ceased and our dancing has turned into mourning.
16 Fiakuku ge le ta na mí. Baba na mí elabena míewɔ nu vɔ̃!
The crown has fallen from our head; woe to us, for we have sinned!
17 Le esia ta míaƒe dziwo le nu xam, le nu siawo ta míaƒe ŋkuwo dzi tsyɔ,
For this our heart has become sick, for these things our eyes grow dim
18 Elabena Zion to tsi ƒuƒlu eye amegaxiwo koe le fefem le afi ma.
for Mount Zion lies desolate, with jackals prowling over it.
19 O, Yehowa, èle fia ɖum tegbee, wò fiazikpui li ke tso dzidzime yi dzidzime.
But you, Yahweh, reign forever, and you will sit upon your throne from generation to generation.
20 Nu ka ta nèŋlɔa mí be ɣe sia ɣi? Nu ka ta nègblẽ mi ɖi eteƒe didi alea?
Why do you forget us forever? Why do you forsake us for so many days?
21 O Yehowa, trɔ mí ɖe ɖokuiwò ŋu be míate ŋu atrɔ agbɔ, wɔ míaƒe ŋkekewo yeye abe le blema ene.
Restore us to yourself, Yahweh, and we will be restored. Renew our days as they were long ago—
22 Ne menye ɖe nègbe mí keŋkeŋ, eye nèdo dziku ɖe mía ŋu wu ale si dze hã o.
unless you have utterly rejected us and you are angry with us beyond measure.
