1 Aleke sika bu eƒe keklẽ eye sika nyui nyɔ vĩ ale! Wokaka kpe kɔkɔeawo ɖe kpɔdome ƒe dzogoewo katã dzi.
ALEPH. How will the gold be tarnished, [and] the fine silver changed! the sacred stones have been poured forth at the top of all the streets.
2 Aleke Zion viŋutsu vevi siwo ŋu kpekpeme nɔ tsã abe sika ene la, le azɔ abe anyize si nye zemela ƒe asinudɔwɔwɔ ene!
BETH. The precious sons of Zion, who were equalled in value with gold, how are they counted as earthen vessels, the works of the hands of the potter!
3 Amegaxiwo kekeake gɔ̃ hã naa no wo viwo wonona gake nye amewo va zu ŋlɔmitɔwo abe tsatsaboli le dzogbe ene.
GIMEL. Nay, serpents have drawn out the breasts, they give suck to their young, the daughters of my people are incurably cruel, as an ostrich in a desert.
4 Tsikɔ na be vidzĩwo ƒe aɖe lé ɖe nu me na wo; ɖevi suewo bia abolo kple kukuɖeɖe gake ame aɖeke meli ana wo o.
DALETH. The tongue of the sucking child cleaves to the roof of its mouth for thirst: the little children ask for bread, [and] there is none to break [it] to them.
5 Ame siwo ɖu nu vivi kpeɖiwo tsã la, zu ame ɖigbɔ̃wo le kpɔdomewo. Ame siwo ta ago veviwo tsã la, mlɔ gbeɖuɖɔ me fifia.
HE. They that feed on dainties are desolate in the streets: they that used to be nursed in scarlet have clothed themselves with dung.
6 Nye amewo ƒe tohehe lolo wu Sodom tɔ, du si wogbã ƒu anyi le aɖabaƒoƒo ɖeka me eye asi aɖeke meli akpe ɖe eŋu o.
VAU. And the iniquity of the daughter of my people has been increased beyond the iniquities of Sodoma, [the city] that was overthrown very suddenly, and none laboured against her [with their] hands.
7 Woƒe dumegãwo da dzo wu sno, wofu wu nyinotsi, woƒe ŋutilã biã wu soe eye woƒe dzedzeme le abe gbloti ene.
ZAIN. Her Nazarites were made purer than snow, they were whiter than milk, they were purified [as] with fire, their polishing was superior to sapphire stone.
8 Ke azɔ la, wonyɔ wu zemabi eye ame aɖeke gɔ̃ hã medzea si wo le kpɔdomewo o. Woƒe ŋutigbalẽ lé ɖe woƒe ƒu ŋuti kpaɖii, eye woƒu abe nake ene.
HETH. Their countenance is become blacker than smoke; they are not known in the streets: their skin has cleaved to their bones; they are withered, they are become as a stick.
9 Ame siwo tsi yi nu la tɔ nyo wu ame siwo ku ɖe dɔwuame ta. Elabena dɔwuame na wogbɔdzɔ, heɖiku glãŋui, le agblemenuku ƒe anyimanɔmanɔ ta.
TETH. The slain with the sword were better than they that were slain with hunger: they have departed, pierced through from [lack of] the fruits of the field.
10 Nyɔnu siwo ame ƒe nu wɔa nublanui na la tsɔ woawo ŋutɔ ƒe asiwo lé wo viwo ɖa, eye wozu nuɖuɖu na wo esi wonɔ nye amewo tsrɔ̃m.
JOD. The hands of tender-hearted women have sodden their own children: they became meat for them in the destruction of the daughter of my people.
11 Yehowa nyɔ eƒe dziku ƒe aɖi katã eye wòtrɔ eƒe dɔmedzoe helĩhelĩ kɔ ɖi. Edo dzo ɖe Zion eye wòfia eƒe gɔmeɖokpewo.
CHAPH. The Lord has accomplished his wrath; he has poured out fierce anger, and has kindled a fire in Sion, and it has devoured her foundations.
12 Anyigbadzifiawo mexɔe se kaka, amewo nayi exɔ ge ase be, futɔwo kple ketɔwo ate ŋu age ɖe Yerusalem ƒe agbowo me o.
LAMED. The kings of the earth, [even] all that dwell in the world, believed not that an enemy and oppressor would enter through the gates of Jerusalem.
13 Gake edzɔ, le eƒe Nyagblɔɖilawo ƒe nu vɔ̃ kple eƒe nunɔlawo ƒe nu tovowo ta, ame siwo kɔ ame dzɔdzɔewo ƒe ʋu ɖe dua me.
MEM. For the sins of her prophets, [and] iniquities of her priests, who shed righteous blood in the midst of her,
14 Azɔ wole asi tsam le kpɔdomewo abe ŋkuagbãtɔwo ene. Woƒo ʋu ale gbegbe be, ame aɖeke medo dzi ka asi woƒe awuwo ŋuti o.
NUN. her watchmen staggered in the streets, they were defiled with blood in their weakness, they touched their raiment [with it].
15 Amewo doa ɣli ɖe wo ta be, “Midzo le afi sia! Mi ame makɔmakɔwo! Mite yi! Mite yi! Migaka asi mía ŋuti o!” Ke esi wosi dzo le tsaglãla tsam la, amewo le dukɔwo me gblɔna na wo be, “Womate ŋu aganɔ teƒe sia o.”
SAMECH. Depart you from the unclean ones: call you them: depart, depart, touch [them] not: for they are on fire, yes, they stagger: say you amongst the nations, They shall no more sojourn [there].
16 Yehowa ŋutɔe kaka wo, megale wo ta kpɔm o. Womegadea bubu nunɔlawo ŋu alo vea dumegãwo nu o.
AIN. The presence of the Lord [was] their portion; [but] he will not again look upon them: they regarded not the person of the priests, they pitied not the prophets.
17 Gawu la, ɖeɖi te míaƒe ŋkuwo ŋu esi wole mɔ kpɔm na kpekpeɖeŋu si meli o; tso míaƒe gbetakpɔxɔwo me, míekpɔ mɔ na dukɔ si mate ŋu aɖe mí o la be wòava.
PHE. While we yet lived our eyes failed, while we looked in vain for our help. TSADE. We looked to a nation that could not save.
18 Amewo le ŋku lém ɖe míaƒe afɔɖeɖe ɖe sia ɖe ŋu ale gbegbe be, míagate ŋu ado go azɔ le míaƒe ablɔwo dzi o. Míaƒe nuwuwu tu aƒe, woxlẽ míaƒe ŋkekewo elabena míaƒe nuwuwu va ɖo.
We have hunted [for] our little ones, that they should not walk in our streets. KOPH. Our time has drawn near, our days are fulfilled, our time is come.
19 Ame siwo le mía yome tim la ɖia du wu hɔ̃ le yame; woti mía yome le towo dzi eye wode xa ɖi na mí le gbegbe.
Our pursuers were swifter than the eagles of the sky, they flew on the mountains, in the wilderness they laid wait for us.
20 Yehowa ƒe amesiamina la, si nye míaƒe agbegbɔgbɔ gɔ̃ hã ge ɖe woƒe mɔ me. Míebu xaa be le eƒe vɔvɔli te la, míanɔ dedie le dukɔwo dome.
RECHS. The breath of our nostrils, [our] anointed Lord, was taken in their destructive snares, of whom we said, In his shadow we shall live amongst the Gentiles.
21 O, Edom vinyɔnu, tso aseye, wò ame si le Uznyigba dzi. Gake wòe woatsɔ kplu la ade asi na, amu wò eye woaɖe ama wò.
CHSEN. Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Idumea, that dwell in the land: yet the cup of the Lord shall pass through to you: you shall be drunken, and pour forth.
22 O, Zion vinyɔnu, wò tohehe awu enu, wò aboyomenɔnɔ magadzi ɖe edzi o. Gake O, Edom vinyɔnu ahe to na wò nu vɔ̃wo eye wòaɖe wò vɔ̃ɖinyenye ɖe go.
THAU. O daughter of Sion, your iniquity has come to an end; he shall no more carry you captive: he has visited your iniquities, O daughter of Edom; he has discovered your sins.
