1 Gideon, ame si wogayɔna be Yerubaal kple eƒe aʋakɔ fɔ ŋdi kanya heyi keke Harɔd vudo la gbɔ. Midiantɔwo ƒe aʋakɔ ƒo ƒu ɖe Gideon ƒe aʋakɔ ƒe anyiehe lɔƒo le balime si le More to la gbɔ xa.
Then Jerobaal, who is the same as Gedeon, rising up early and all the people with him, came to the fountain that is called Harad. Now the camp of Madian was in the valley on the north side of the high hill.
2 Yehowa gblɔ na Gideon be, “Wò aʋakɔ la sɔ gbɔ akpa! Nyemaɖe mɔ mi katã miawɔ aʋa kple Midiantɔwo o, elabena Israelviwo ava ƒo adegbe nam be, ‘Míawoe ɖe mía ɖokuiwo to míawo ŋutɔ ƒe ŋusẽ me’
And the Lord said to Gedeon: The people that are with thee are many, and Madian shall not be delivered into their hands: lest Israel should glory against me, and say: I was delivered by my own strength.
3 Ɖo wò ame siwo nye vɔvɔ̃nɔtɔwo kple ame siwo dzidzi ƒo la ɖe aƒe.” Ale ame akpe blaeve-vɔ-eve trɔ dzo eye ame akpe ewo siwo nɔ klalo na aʋawɔwɔ koe susɔ.
Speak to the people, and proclaim in the hearing of all, I Whosoever is fearful and timorous, let him return. So two and twenty thousand men went away from mount Galaad and returned home, and only ten thousand remained.
4 Yehowa gagblɔ na Gideon be, “Ameawo sɔ gbɔ akpa. Kplɔ wo yi tɔ la to, ekema mafia ame siwo ayi kpli wò kple esiwo mayi o la wò. Ne megblɔ be, ‘Ame sia nayi kpli wò la’ ekema ayi, ke ne megblɔ be, ‘Ame sia mayi kpli wò o la’ ekema mayi o.”
And the Lord said to Gedeon: The people are still too many, bring them to the waters, and there I will try them: and of whom I shall say to thee, This shall go with thee, let him go: whom I shall forbid to go, let him return.
5 Gideon kplɔ wo yi tɔ la gbɔ eye Yehowa gblɔ na Gideon be, “Ame siwo akpe nu ɖe tsi me eye woano tsi abe avu ene la, nanɔ hatsotso ɖeka me eye ame siwo adze klo eye woaku tsia kple asi ano la hã nanɔ hatsotso bubu me.”
And when the people were come down to the waters, the Lord said to Gedeon: They that shall lap the water with their tongues, as dogs are wont to lap, thou shalt set apart by themselves: but they that shall drink bowing down their knees, shall be on the other side.
6 Ewɔ nenema eye ame siwo ku tsia kple asi heno la nɔ ame alafa etɔ̃, ame bubuawo katã nye ame siwo dze klo heno tsia abe avu ene.
And the number of them that had lapped water, casting it with the hand to their mouth, was three hundred men: and all the rest of the multitude had drunk kneeling.
7 Yehowa gblɔ na Gideon be, “Maɖu Midiantɔwo dzi kple ame alafa etɔ̃ siawo! Na ame mamlɛawo natrɔ ayi aƒe!”
And the Lord said to Gedeon: By the three hundred men, that lapped water, I will save you, and deliver Madian into thy hand: but let all the rest of the people return to their place.
So taking victuals and trumpets according to their number, he ordered all the rest of the multitude to depart to their tents: and he with the three hundred gave himself to the battle. Now the camp of Madian was beneath him in the valley.
9 Aƒetɔ la gblɔ na Gideon le zã me be, “Fɔ kaba! Kplɔ wò aʋawɔlawo, eye miadze Midiantɔwo dzi elabena mana miaɖu wo dzi!
The same night the Lord said to him: Arise, and go down into the camp: because I have delivered them into thy hand.
10 Ke ne èle vɔvɔ̃m la, ekema wò ɖeka yi futɔwo ƒe asaɖa la me, kplɔ wò subɔla Pura ɖe asi,
But if thou be afraid to go alone, let Phara thy servant go down with thee.
11 eye nàɖo to nya siwo gblɔm futɔwo le, ekema dzi aɖo ƒowò, eye nàtso enumake ɖe aʋa la wɔwɔ ŋu!” Ale Gideon kplɔ Pura ɖe asi eye wowɔ ɖɔɖɔɖɔ yi futɔwo ƒe nɔƒe.
And when thou shalt hear what they are saying, then shall thy hands be strengthened, and thou shalt go down more secure to the enemies’ camp. And he went down with Phara his servant into part of the camp, where was the watch of men in arms.
12 Midiantɔwo kple Amalekitɔwo kple dukɔ bubuwo tso ɣedzeƒe ƒo ƒu ɖe balime la abe ʋetsuviwo alo ƒutake ene eye woƒe kposɔwo sɔ gbɔ wu xexlẽ.
But Madian and Amalec, and all the eastern people lay scattered in the valley, as a multitude of locusts: their camels also were innumerable as the sand that lieth on the sea shore.
13 Gideon te ɖe agbadɔ aɖe ŋu esime futɔwo dometɔ ɖeka ku drɔ̃e, ɖi vo, nyɔ tso alɔ̃ me teti henɔ drɔ̃e la lĩm na nɔvia. Egblɔ be, “Meku drɔ̃e dziŋɔ aɖe, abolo gã aɖe mli ge ɖe míaƒe asaɖa la me eye wòlɔ míaƒe agbadɔ la ƒu anyi gbloo!”
And when Gedeon was come, one told his neighbour a dream: and in this manner related what he had seen: I dreamt a dream, and it seemed to me as if a hearth cake of barley bread rolled and came down into the camp of Madian: and when it was come to a tent it struck it, and beat it down flat to the ground.
14 Ame evelia gblɔ be, “Gɔmeɖeɖe ɖeka koe le wò drɔ̃e la si. Gideon, Yoas ƒe vi, Israel ŋutsu la ava tsrɔ̃ Midiantɔwo kple dukɔ bubu siwo kpe ɖe wo ŋu la ƒe aʋakɔwo katã.”
He to whom he spoke, answered: This is nothing else but the sword of Gedeon the son of Joas a man of Israel. For the Lord hath delivered Madian, and all their camp into his hand.
15 Gideon se drɔ̃e la kple eƒe gɔmeɖeɖe. Nu si ko wòte ŋu wɔ lae nye etsi tsitre ɖe afi ma eye wòkafu Mawu! Azɔ etrɔ enumake yi Israelviwo ƒe asaɖa me eye wòdo ɣli be, “Mifɔ kaba elabena Yehowa ana míaɖu Midiantɔwo ƒe aʋakɔ gã siawo dzi!”
And when Gedeon had heard the dream, and the interpretation thereof, he adored: and returned to the camp of Israel, and said: Arise, for the Lord hath delivered the camp of Madian into our hands.
16 Gideon ma ame alafa etɔ̃ la ɖe akpa etɔ̃ me, tsɔ kpẽ kple anyikplu si me akakati le la na ame sia ame.
And he divided the three hundred men into three parts, and gave them trumpets in their hands, and empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.
17 Ke eɖe eƒe ɖoɖowo me na wo hegblɔ be, “Ne míeva ɖo futɔwo ƒe asaɖaŋudzɔlawo gbɔ la, miwɔ nu si tututu mawɔ.
And he said to them: What you shall see me do, do you the same: I will go into one part of the camp, and do you as I shall do.
18 Ne nye kple nye amewo míeku míaƒe kpẽwo ko la, miawo hã miku mia tɔwo le asaɖa la ƒe akpa ɖe sia ɖe eye miado ɣli sesĩe be, ‘Míele aʋa wɔm na Mawu kple Gideon!’”
When the trumpet shall sound in my hand, do you also blow the trumpets on every side of the camp.
And Gedeon, and the three hundred men that were with him, went into part of the camp, at the beginning of the midnight watch, and the watchmen being alarmed, they began to sound their trumpets, and to clap the pitchers one against another.
20 Aʋalɔgo etɔ̃awo me nɔlawo hã ku kpẽawo, gbã woƒe anyikpluwo, lé akakatiawo ɖe mia eye wolé kpẽawo ɖe ɖusi hena kuku. Wodo ɣli sesĩe be, “Esia nye yi na Yehowa kple Gideon!”
And when they sounded their trumpets in three places round about the camp, and had broken their pitchers, they held their lamps in their left hands, and with their right hands the trumpets which they blew, and they cried out: The sword of the Lord and of Gedeon;
21 Esi Gideon ƒe ameawo ɖe to ɖe asaɖa la la, Midiantɔwo katã lé du tsɔ eye wonɔ ɣli dom esime wonɔ dua dzi.
Standing every man in his place round about the enemies’ camp. So all the camp was troubled, and crying out and howling they fled away.
22 Esi ame alafa etɔ̃awo ku kpẽawo la, Yehowa de zi asaɖa la me be wotsɔ yi ɖe wo nɔewo ŋu. Woƒe asrafowo si yi ɖe Bet Sita ɖo ta Zerera gbɔ va se ɖe keke Abel Mehola si te ɖe Tabat ƒe liƒo dzi ke.
And the three hundred men nevertheless persisted sounding the trumpets. And the Lord sent the sword into all the camp, and they killed one another,
23 Woyɔ Israelvi siwo tso Naftali, Aser kple Manase la, wodo go eye woti Midiantɔwo yome.
Fleeing as far as Bethsetta, and the border of Abelmahula in Tebbath. But the men of Israel shouting from Nephtali and Aser, and from all Manasses pursued after Madian.
24 Gideon dɔ dɔlawo wotsa le Efraim tonyigba la katã dzi nɔ gbɔgblɔm be, “Miɖi va dze Midiantɔwo dzi eye miaxe mɔ na woƒe Yɔdan tɔsisi la tsotso va se ɖe keke Bet Bera ke.” Ale woyɔ Efraim ŋutsuwo katã do goe eye woxe Yɔdan ƒe tɔtsoƒewo katã va se ɖe Bet Bera ke.
And Gedeon sent messengers into all mount Ephraim, saying: Come down to meet Madian, and take the waters before them to Bethbera and the Jordan. And all Ephraim shouted, and took the waters before them and the Jordan as far as Bethbera.
25 Israelviwo lé Midiantɔwo ƒe aʋafia eveawo, Oreb kple Zeb. Wowu Oreb le agakpe si wotsɔ eƒe ŋkɔ na eye woyɔnɛ fifia be Oreb la gbɔ eye wowu Zeb le wainfiaƒe si woyɔna fifia be Zeb. Woti Midiantɔwo yome eye wotsɔ Oreb kple Zib ƒe tawo vɛ na Gideon le Yɔdan tɔsisi la godo.
And having taken two men of Madian, Oreb and Zeb: Oreb they slew in the rock of Oreb, and Zeb in the winepress of Zeb. And they pursued Madian, carrying the heads of Oreb and Zeb to Gedeon beyond the waters of the Jordan.
