1 Ale Yehowa gblẽ dukɔ aɖewo ɖe anyigba la dzi be yeado Israelvi siwo mekpɔ aʋawɔwɔ le Kanaanyigba dzi teƒe o la kpɔ.
And these [are] the nations which the Lord left to prove Israel with them, all that had not known the wars of Chanaan.
2 Ewɔ esia be yeafia nu Israelviwo ƒe dzidzime ɖe sia ɖe tso aʋawɔwɔ ŋu, vevietɔ ame siwo mekpɔ aʋawɔwɔ teƒe kpɔ o.
Only for the sake of the generations of Israel, to teach them war, only the men before them knew them not.
3 Ame siwo ganɔ anyigba la dzi kokoko woe nye Filistitɔwo ƒe du atɔ̃ me nɔlawo, Kanaantɔwo katã, Sidontɔwo kple Hivitɔwo, ame siwo nɔ Lebanon towo dzi, tso Baal Hermon to dzi yi ɖase Hamat mɔ nu.
The five lordships of the Phylistines, and every Chananite, and the Sidonian, and the Evite who lived in Libanus from the mount of Aermon to Laboemath.
4 Wonye dodokpɔ na Israel be woakpɔe ɖa be Israelviwo awɔ se siwo Yehowa de na Mose, wòde na wo dzi loo alo womawɔ wo dzi o mahã.
And [this] was done in order to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would obey the commands of the Lord, which he charged their fathers by the hand of Moses.
5 Ale Israel nɔ Kanaantɔwo, Hititɔwo, Hivitɔwo, Perizitɔwo, Amoritɔwo kple Yebusitɔwo dome.
And the children of Israel lived in the midst of the Chananite, and the Chettite, and the Amorite, and the Pherezite, and the Evite, and the Jebusite.
6 Ke le esime Israelviwo natsrɔ̃ wo teƒe la, woɖe srɔ̃ tso wo dome. Israel ɖekakpuiwo ɖe dukɔ siawo ƒe ɖetugbiwo eye woawo hã ƒe ɖekakpuiwo ɖe Israel ɖetugbiwo. Eteƒe medidi hafi Israelviwo de asi dukɔ siawo ƒe mawuwo subɔsubɔ me o.
And they took their daughters for wives to themselves, and they gave their daughters to their sons, and served their gods.
7 Ale Israelviwo wɔ nu vɔ̃ le Yehowa ŋkume, elabena wotrɔ le Yehowa, woƒe Mawu la yome eye wosubɔ Baalwo kple aƒeliwo.
And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, and forgot the Lord their God, and served Baalim and the groves.
8 Ale Yehowa do dɔmedzoe ɖe Israel ŋu vevie eye wòna Kusan Risataim si nye Aram Naharaim fia va ɖu wo dzi eye wonɔ eƒe dziɖuɖu te ƒe enyi.
And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and sold them into the hand of Chusarsathaim king of Syria of the rivers: and the children of Israel served Chusarsathaim eight years.
9 Ke esi Israel do ɣli na Yehowa la, ena Kaleb ƒe tɔɖiayɔvi, Otniel, ame si nye Kenaz, Kaleb nɔviŋutsu ƒe vi la ɖe wo tso futɔwo si me.
And the children of Israel cried to the Lord; and the Lord raised up a saviour to Israel, and he saved them, Gothoniel the son of Kenez, the brother of Chaleb younger than himself.
10 Yehowa ƒe Gbɔgbɔ ɖiɖi ɖe Otniel dzi eye wòzu Ʋɔnudrɔ̃la na Israel. Esi wòkplɔ Israel ƒe aʋakɔ eye wowɔ aʋa kple Aram, Fia Kusan Risataim la, Yehowa kpe ɖe Israelviwo ŋu be woɖu dzi.
And the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he judged Israel; and he went out to war against Chusarsathaim: and the Lord delivered into his hand Chusarsathaim king of Syria of the rivers, and his hand prevailed against Chusarsathaim.
11 Ale Israelviwo nɔ ŋutifafa me ƒe blaene sɔŋ va se ɖe esime Otniel, Kenaz ƒe vi la ku.
And the land was quiet forty years; and Gothoniel the son of Kenez died.
12 Israelviwo gawɔ nu si nye vɔ̃ le Yehowa ŋkume. Esi wowɔ vɔ̃ sia ta la, Yehowa tsɔ Israel de Moab fia Eglon ƒe ŋusẽ te.
And the children of Israel continued to do evil before the Lord: and the Lord strengthened Eglom king of Moab against Israel, because they had done evil before the Lord.
13 Amonitɔwo kple Amalekitɔwo kpe ɖe Moab fia la ŋu; woɖu Israelviwo dzi, eye woxɔ Yeriko, du si woyɔna be “Detiwo ƒe Du”
And he gathered to himself all the children of Ammon and Amalec, and went and struck Israel, and took possession of the city of Palm-trees.
14 eya ta Israel nɔ Eglon, Moab fia la te ƒe wuienyi sɔŋ.
And the children of Israel served Eglom the king of Moab eighteen years.
15 Ke esi Israelviwo gado ɣli na Yehowa la, eɖo ɖela aɖe ɖe wo. Ɖela siae nye Ehud, Gera ƒe vi, tso Benyamin ƒe to la me, ame si nye mia wɔla. Israelviwo dɔe ɖo ɖe Moab fia Eglon gbɔ kple woƒe nudzɔdzɔ.
And the children of Israel cried to the Lord; and he raised up to them a saviour, Aod the son of Gera a son of Jemeni, a man who used both hands alike: and the children of Israel sent gifts by his hand to Eglom king of Moab.
16 Hafi wòayi la, Ehud wɔ adekpui nuevee aɖe si didi mita afã. Eblae ɖe eƒe ɖusita ŋu eye wòdo awu ɖe edzi.
And Aod made himself a dagger of two edges, of a span long, and he girded it under his cloak upon his right thigh.
17 Etsɔ nudzɔdzɔ yi na Moab Fia, Eglon, ame si lolo ŋutɔ.
And he went, and brought the presents to Eglom king of Moab, and Eglom [was] a very handsome man.
18 Esi Ehud tsɔ nudzɔdzɔ na fia la la, egblɔ na Israelvi siwo tsɔ nuawo la be woatrɔ ayi aƒe.
And it came to pass when [Aod] had made an end of offering his gifts, that he dismissed those that brought the gifts.
19 Ke Ehud ŋutɔ trɔ le Gilgal ƒe legbawo gbɔ yi ɖagblɔ na fia la be, “O fia, nya ɣaɣla tɔxɛ aɖe le asinye na wò.” Tete fia la gblɔ na eŋumewo katã be, “Mizi ɖoɖoe!” Ale wo katã do go le xɔa me.
And he himself returned from the quarries that are by Galgal; and Aod said, I have a secret errand to you, O king! and Eglom said to him, Be silent: and he sent away from his presence all who waited upon him.
20 Ehud yi egbɔ le dziƒoxɔ dzi afi si eya ɖeka nɔ anyi ɖo le eƒe dzomeŋɔlifiasã me hegblɔ nɛ be, “Mexɔ gbedeasi tso Mawu gbɔ na wò” Esi Fia la tsi tsitre tso eƒe zi dzi la,
And Aod went in to him; and he sat in his own upper summer chamber quite alone; and Aod said, I have a message from God to you, O king: and Eglom rose up from his throne near him.
21 Ehud ƒo eƒe miasi ɖe eƒe awu te heɖe adekpui si wòbla ɖe eƒe ɖusita ŋu la eye wònyrɔe ɖe fia la ƒe dɔ me.
And it came to pass as he arose, that Aod stretched forth his left hand, and took the dagger off his right thigh, and plunged it into his belly;
22 Adekpui la ƒe didime blibo la ga la kple asiléƒe la siaa bu ɖe lãme na Fia Eglon hedo ɖe dzimegbe nɛ. Ehud meho aɖekpui la do goe o, eye eƒe lãmemi nye tsyɔ edzi.
and drove in also the haft after the blade, and the fat closed in upon the blade, for he drew not out the dagger from his belly.
23 Ale Ehud do go ɖe akpata me hetu dziƒoxɔ la ƒe ʋɔtruwo eye wode ga wo me.
And Aod went out to the porch, and passed out by the appointed [guards], and shut the doors of the chamber upon him, and locked [them].
24 Esi fia la ƒe subɔlawo kpɔ be ʋɔa nɔ tutu la, wolala, elabena wobu be ɖewohĩ fia la nɔ tsileƒe.
And he went out: and Eglom's servants came, and saw, and behold, the doors of the upper chamber [were] locked; and they said, Does he not uncover his feet in the summer-chamber?
25 Ke esi eteƒe didi, eye fia la medo go o la, dzika tso wo ƒo, ale wodi safui aɖe heʋu ʋɔ la, kasia wokpɔ fia la wòku, mlɔ anyigba.
And they waited till they were ashamed, and, behold, there was no one that opened the doors of the upper chamber; and they took the key, and opened them; and, behold, their lord was fallen down dead upon the earth.
26 Le ɣeyiɣi sia me la, Ehud si heto kpelegba siwo wokpa da ɖe Seira la ŋu.
And Aod escaped while they were in a tumult, and no one paid attention to him; and he passed the quarries, and escaped to Setirotha.
27 Esi wòɖo Efraim ƒe tonyigba dzi la, eku kpẽ. Tete Israelviwo ɖi tso towo dzi va kpe ta ɖe eŋu, eye eya ŋutɔ dze wo ŋgɔ.
And it came to pass when Aod came into the land of Israel, that he blew the horn in mount Ephraim, and the children of Israel came down with him from the mountain, and he [was] before them.
28 Egblɔ na wo be, “Mikplɔm ɖo elabena Yehowa tsɔ míaƒe futɔwo, Moabtɔwo de asi na mí!” Aʋakɔ la yi ɖaxɔ afi si Moabtɔwo tsoa Yɔdan tɔsisi la le, eye woxe mɔ na woƒe tɔsisi la tsotso.
And he said to them, Come down after me, for the Lord God has delivered our enemies, even Moab, into our hand; and they went down after him, and seized on the fords of Jordan before Moab, and he did not suffer a man to pass over.
29 Wodze Moabtɔwo dzi eye wowu woƒe aʋawɔla sesẽ akpe ewo; wo dometɔ aɖeke mete ŋu si o.
And they struck Moab on that day about ten thousand men, every [lusty] person and every mighty man; and not a man escaped.
30 Ale Israel ɖu Moab dzi gbe ma gbe, eye ŋutifafa nɔ anyigba la dzi ƒe blaenyi sɔŋ.
So Moab was humbled in that day under the hand of Israel, and the land had rest eighty years; and Aod judged them till he died.
31 Ʋɔnudrɔ̃la si kplɔ Ehud ɖo lae nye Samgar, Anat ƒe vi. Etsɔ nyikplɔti wu Filistitɔ alafa ade. Eya hã ɖe Israel.
And after him rose up Samegar the son of Dinach, and struck the Philistines to the number of six hundred men with a ploughshare [such as is drawn by] oxen; and he too delivered Israel.
