< Yosua 10 >
1 Esi Adoni Zedek, Yerusalem fia se ale si Yosua xɔ Ai du, tsrɔ̃e gbidigbidi, eye wòwu Ai fia kple ale si wòwɔ Ai fia kple Yeriko fia kpakple ale si Gibeontɔwo wɔ nubabla kple Israelviwo, eye wozu Israel dzi nɔlawo la,
And it comes to pass, when Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem hears that Joshua has captured Ai, and devotes it (as he had done to Jericho and to her king so he has done to Ai and to her king), and that the inhabitants of Gibeon have made peace with Israel, and are in their midst—
2 vɔvɔ̃ gã aɖe ɖoe, elabena Gibeon lolo abe fiadu ene, eye wòlolo sãa wu Ai, evɔ Gibeontɔwo nye aʋawɔla sesẽwo,
that they are greatly afraid, because Gibeon [is] a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it [is] greater than Ai, and all its men [are] heroes.
3 eya ta Adoni Zedek, Yerusalem fia ɖo du ɖe fia siawo: Hebron fia, Hoham, Yarmut fia, Piran, Lakis fia, Yafia kple Eglon fia, Debir.
And Adoni-Zedek king of Jerusalem sends to Hoham king of Hebron, and to Piram king of Jarmuth, and to Japhia king of Lachish, and to Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 Fia Adoni Zedek gblɔ na wo be, “Miva kpe ɖe ŋunye míatsrɔ̃ Gibeontɔwo, elabena wowɔ ŋutifafa kple Yosua kple Israelviwo.”
“Come up to me, and help me, and we strike Gibeon, for it has made peace with Joshua, and with the sons of Israel.”
5 Ale Amoritɔwo ƒe fia atɔ̃ siawo ƒo ƒu woƒe aʋakɔwo katã ɖekae be yewoaho aʋa ɖe Gibeontɔwo ŋu.
And five kings of the Amorite (the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon) are gathered together, and go up, they and all their camps, and encamp against Gibeon, and fight against it.
6 Gibeontɔwo ɖo ame ɖe Yosua le Gilgal enumake be, “Miva kpe ɖe miaƒe subɔlawo ŋu! Miva kaba ne miava ɖe mí! Amoritɔwo ƒe fiawo katã tso woƒe nɔƒewo le toawo dzi va le mía gbɔ kple woƒe aʋakɔwo.”
And the men of Gibeon send to Joshua, to the camp at Gilgal, saying, “Do not let your hand cease from your servants; come up to us [with] haste, and give safety to us, and help us; for all the kings of the Amorite, dwelling in the hill-country, have been assembled against us.”
7 Yosua kple Israelviwo ƒe aʋakɔ la ho tso Gilgal, eye woyi be yewoaxɔ na Gibeontɔwo.
And Joshua goes up from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, even all the mighty men of valor.
8 Yehowa gblɔ na Yosua be, “Mègavɔ̃ wo o, elabena mieɖu wo dzi xoxo! Metsɔ wo na mi be miatsrɔ̃ wo, wo dometɔ ɖeka pɛ gɔ̃ hã mate ŋu anɔ te ɖe mia nu o.”
And YHWH says to Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for I have given them into your hand, there does not stand a man of them in your presence.”
9 Yosua kple Israelviwo ƒe aʋakɔ la zɔ mɔ zã blibo la tso Gilgal, eye woɖi ɖe futɔwo dzi kpoyi.
And Joshua comes to them suddenly (all the night he has gone up from Gilgal),
10 Tete Yehowa na futɔwo vɔ̃ eye wotɔtɔ, ale Israelviwo wu ame geɖewo le Gibeon, eye wonya ame mamlɛawo, nɔ wo wum le mɔa dzi yi keke Bet Horon kple Azeka kple Makeda.
and YHWH crushes them before Israel, and strikes them [with] a great striking at Gibeon, and pursues them the way of the ascent of Beth-Horon, and strikes them to Azekah, and to Makkedah.
11 Esi futɔwo nɔ sisim tso toawo dzi henɔ abu ɖim la, Yehowa na kpewo ge tso dziƒo va dze wo dzi hetsrɔ̃ wo le mɔa dzi va se ɖe keke Azeka ke. Ame siwo kpe siawo wu la sɔ gbɔ wu ame siwo Israelviwo wu kple yi.
And it comes to pass, in their fleeing from the face of Israel—they [are] in the descent of Beth-Horon—and YHWH has cast great stones on them out of the heavens, to Azekah, and they die; more are they who have died by the hailstones than they whom the sons of Israel have slain by the sword.
12 Esime Israelviwo nɔ Amoritɔwo nyam, nɔ wo wum la, Yosua do gbe ɖa na Yehowa kple gbe sesẽ be, “Na ɣe natɔ ɖe Gibeon tame, eye nàna ɣleti hã natɔ ɖe Aiyalon balime tame!”
Then Joshua speaks to YHWH in the day of YHWH’s giving up the Amorites before the sons of Israel, and he says before the eyes of Israel, “Sun—stand still in Gibeon; and moon—in the Valley of Ajalon”;
13 Eye ɣe kple ɣleti siaa megaʋã o va se ɖe esime Israelviwo ƒe aʋakɔ la tsrɔ̃ eƒe futɔwo keŋkeŋ! Woŋlɔ nu geɖewo wu esia tso aʋa sia wɔwɔ ŋuti ɖe Yasar ƒe Agbalẽ me. Ale ɣe tɔ ɖe dziƒo abe gaƒoƒo blaeve-vɔ-ene sɔŋ ene!
and the sun stands still, and the moon has stood—until the nation takes vengeance [on] its enemies; is it not written on the Scroll of the Upright, “and the sun stands in the midst of the heavens, and has not hurried to go in—as a perfect day?”
14 Ŋkeke sia tɔgbi meva yi kpɔ o, eye etɔgbi megava kpɔ o tso gbe ma gbe, esi Yehowa tɔ ɣe kple ɣleti le ame ɖeka ƒe gbedodoɖa ta. Ke Yehowa nɔ aʋa wɔm na Israel.
And there has not been like that day before it or after it, for YHWH’s listening to the voice of a man; for YHWH is fighting for Israel.
15 Le esia megbe la, Israelviwo ƒe aʋakɔ la trɔ yi Gilgal.
And Joshua turns back, and all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.
16 Amoritɔwo ƒe fia atɔ̃awo si le aʋa la me yi ɖaɣla wo ɖokuiwo ɖe agado aɖe me le Makeda.
And these five kings flee, and are hidden in a cave at Makkedah,
17 Esime wona nyanya Yosua be wokpɔ fiawo la,
and it is declared to Joshua, saying, “The five kings have been found hidden in a cave at Makkedah.”
18 eɖe gbe be woamli kpe gã aɖe axe agado la nu, eye woana dzɔlawo nanɔ afi ma akpɔ egbɔ be fiawo tsi agado la me.
And Joshua says, “Roll great stones to the mouth of the cave, and appoint men over it to watch them;
19 Yosua ɖe gbe na aʋakɔ la be, “Minɔ futɔwo nyanya dzi, eye miawu wo tso megbe; migana woade woƒe duwo me o, elabena Yehowa miaƒe Mawu akpe ɖe mia ŋu miatsrɔ̃ wo keŋkeŋ.”
and you, do not stand, pursue after your enemies, and you have struck them from the rear; do not permit them to go into their cities, for your God YHWH has given them into your hand.”
20 Ale Yosua kple Israelʋakɔ la yi futɔwo wuwu dzi. Wotsrɔ̃ aʋakɔ atɔ̃awo katã negbe ame ʋɛ aɖewo koe te ŋu ɖo woƒe du siwo woɖo gli ƒo xlã la me.
And it comes to pass, when Joshua and the sons of Israel finish to strike them [with] a very great striking until they are consumed, and the remnant who have remained of them go into the fortified cities,
that all the people return to the camp, to Joshua, [at] Makkedah, in peace; none moved his tongue sharply against the sons of Israel.
22 Yosua ɖe gbe be woaɖe kpe gã la ɖa le agado la nu, eye woakplɔ fia atɔ̃awo vɛ.
And Joshua says, “Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out to me these five kings from the cave”;
23 Ale woʋu agado la, eye wokplɔ Yerusalem, Hebron, Yarmut, Lakis kple Eglon fiawo vɛ.
and they do so, and bring out to him these five kings from the cave: the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon.
24 Esi wokplɔ fia atɔ̃ siawo va Yosua gbɔ la, eyɔ Israel ŋutsuwo katã eye wòɖe gbe na eƒe aʋakplɔlawo, ame siwo de aʋa kplii be, “Mite va eye miaɖo afɔ ve dzi na fia siawo!” Tete wote va eye woɖo afɔ ve dzi na fia atɔ̃awo.
And it comes to pass, when they bring out these kings to Joshua, that Joshua calls to every man of Israel, and says to the captains of the men of war, who have gone with him, “Draw near, set your feet on the necks of these kings”; and they draw near, and set their feet on their necks.
25 Yosua gblɔ na Israelviwo be, “Migavɔ̃ gbeɖegbeɖe o. Ŋusẽ nenɔ mia ŋu, eye mialé dzi ɖe ƒo, elabena Yehowa awɔ miaƒe futɔwo katã alea.”
And Joshua says to them, “Do not fear, nor be frightened; be strong and courageous; for thus does YHWH do to all your enemies with whom you are fighting”;
26 Tete Yosua tsɔ eƒe yi wu fia atɔ̃awo, eye wòde ka wo ɖe ati atɔ̃ ŋu va se ɖe fiẽ.
and Joshua strikes them afterward, and puts them to death, and hangs them on five trees; and they are hanging on the trees until the evening.
27 Esime ɣe nɔ to ɖom la, Yosua na woɖe wo le atiawo ŋu, wotsɔ wo ƒu gbe ɖe agado si me wosi yi ɖaɣla wo ɖokuiwo ɖo la me, eye woli kɔ kpe gãwo ɖe agado la nu. Kpe siawo gale afi ma va se ɖe egbe.
And it comes to pass, at the time of the going in of the sun, Joshua has commanded, and they take them down from off the trees, and cast them into the cave where they had been hid, and put great stones on the mouth of the cave until this very day.
28 Gbe ma gbe ke la, Yosua tsrɔ̃ Makeda du la, eye wòwu fia la kple ame sia ame si nɔ dua me; womena ame ɖeka pɛ gɔ̃ hã tsi agbe le du blibo la me o.
And Joshua has captured Makkedah on that day, and he strikes it by the mouth of the sword, and he has devoted its king, them and every person who [is] in it—he has not left a remnant; and he does to the king of Makkedah as he did to the king of Jericho.
29 Tso afi sia la, Israelviwo yi Libna.
And Joshua passes over, and all Israel with him, from Makkedah [to] Libnah, and fights with Libnah;
30 Yehowa tsɔ du la kple fia la de asi na Israel le afi sia hã; wowu ame sia ame le dua me abe ale si wowɔ le Yeriko ene.
and YHWH also gives it into the hand of Israel, and its king, and [Joshua] strikes it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who [is] in it—he does not leave a remnant in it; and he does to its king as he did to the king of Jericho.
31 Israelviwo tso Libna, eye woyi ɖadze Lakis du la hã dzi.
And Joshua passes over, and all Israel with him, from Libnah to Lachish, and encamps against it, and fights against it.

And YHWH gives Lachish into the hand of Israel, and [Joshua] captures it on the second day, and strikes it by the mouth of the sword, and every person who [is] in it, according to all that he did to Libnah.
33 Esime Israelviwo nɔ aʋa wɔm le Lakis la, Gezer fia Horan va do kple eƒe aʋakɔ be yeaʋli Lakis du la ta. Ke Yosua ƒe amewo wui, eye wotsrɔ̃ eƒe aʋakɔ blibo la.
Then Horam king of Gezer has come up to help Lachish, and Joshua strikes him and his people, until he has not left a remnant to him.
34 Yosua kple Israel katã dzo le Lakis heyi Eglon. Woɖe to ɖe du sia, eye woho aʋa ɖe eŋu.

And Joshua turns back, and all Israel with him, to Debir, and fights against it,
39 Woɖu Debirtɔwo dzi enumake, wu ame sia ame abe ale si wowɔ le Libna ene.
and captures it, and its king, and all its cities, and they strike them by the mouth of the sword, and devote every person who [is] in it—he has not left a remnant; as he did to Hebron so he did to Debir, and to its king, and as he did to Libnah, and to its king.
And Joshua strikes all the land of the hill-country, and of the south, and of the low-country, and of the springs, and all their kings—he has not left a remnant, and he has devoted all that breathe, as YHWH, God of Israel, commanded.
41 Wowu wo tso Kades Barnea yi Gaza, tso Gosen yi Gibeon.
And Joshua strikes them from Kadesh-Barnea, even to Gaza, and all the land of Goshen, even to Gibeon;

And Joshua turns back, and all Israel with him, to the camp at Gilgal.
