< Yohanes 7 >
Medi be yeayi Yudea o, elabena Yudatɔwo nɔ nugbe ɖom ɖe eŋu le afi ma be yewoawui.
After this, Jesus traveled about in Galilee, for he would not reside in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
2 Gake esi Yudatɔwo ƒe Agbadɔmeŋkekenyui la tu aƒe la,
Now, the Jewish feast of tabernacles was near.
3 Yesu nɔviŋutsuwo gblɔ nɛ be, “Ele be nàdzo le afi sia ayi Yudea, be wò nusrɔ̃lawo nakpɔ nukunu siwo nèwɔna la.
His brothers, therefore, said to him, Leave this country, and go to Judea, that your disciples may also see the works which you do.
4 Ame si dina be yeazu ame ŋkuta la mewɔa nu le bebeme o, eya ta esi nèle nu siawo wɔm la, ele be nàɖe ɖokuiwò afia xexea me.”
For whoever courts renown, does nothing in secret: since you perform such things, show yourself to the world.
5 Nɔviawo gblɔ esia, elabena womexɔ edzi se o.
(For not even his brothers believed on him.)
6 Yesu ɖo eŋu na wo be, “Ɣeyiɣi sia menye ɣeyiɣi nyuitɔ nam be mayi o, ke miawo la, ɣeyiɣi ɖe sia ɖe nyo na mi.
Jesus answered, My time is not yet come; any time will suit you.
7 Miawo la, xexea me tɔwo mate ŋu alé fu mi o, ke nye la, wolé fum, elabena megblɔna na wo be woƒe nuwɔnawo nye nu vɔ̃ɖi.
The world can not hate you; but me it hates, because I disclose the wickedness of its actions.
8 Mido ŋgɔ mianɔ yiyim faa. Ne ɣeyiɣi nyuitɔ ɖo nam ko la, nye hã madze mia yome.”
Go you to this festival: I go not thither, because it is not my time.
9 Ale Yesu tsi Galilea le ŋkeke mawo me.
Having said this, he remained in Galilee.
10 Esi Yesu nɔviŋutsuwo dzo vɔ megbe la, eya hã yi Ŋkekenyui la ɖuƒe. Ke eyi le bebeme.
But when his brothers were gone, he also went to the festival; not publicly, but rather privately.
At the festival, the Jews inquired after him, and said, Where is he?
12 Ame geɖewo nɔ nu ƒom le eŋu le amehawo dome. Ame aɖewo gblɔ be, “Enye ame nyui.” Ame bubuwo hã gblɔ be, “Alakpatɔ wònye le amewo flum.”
And there was much whispering among the people concerning him. Some said, He is a good man. Others, No; he seduces the multitude.
13 Ke dzideƒo menɔ ame siwo nɔ ekafum la si be woaƒo nu tso eŋu le dutoƒo o, elabena wonɔ vɔvɔ̃m na Yudatɔwo.
No person, however, spoke freely of him, for fear of the Jews.
14 Esi ŋkekenyui la ƒe afã nu yi la, Yesu yi ɖe gbedoxɔ la me, eye wòde asi nufiafia amewo me.
About the middle of the festival, Jesus went into the temple, and was teaching.
15 Ewɔ nuku na Yudatɔwo ƒe amegãwo ŋutɔ esi wose nu siwo gblɔm wònɔ le gbedoxɔ la me. Wobia be, “Aleke ame sia wɔ nya nu siawo, togbɔ be mede suku aɖeke o?”
And the Jews said with astonishment, Whence comes this man's learning, who was never taught?
16 Yesu ɖo eŋu be, “Nye la, nyemele nu siwo menya la fiam o, ke boŋ etso Mawu si dɔm ɖa la gbɔ.
Jesus made answer, My doctrine is not mine, but his who sent me.
17 Ne ame aɖe di be yeawɔ Mawu ƒe lɔlɔ̃nu la, akpɔe be nye nufiafia tso Mawu gbɔ loo alo enye nye ŋutɔ nye nyawo.
If any one will do his will, he shall discern whether my doctrine proceeds from God, or from myself.
Whosoever teaches what proceeds from himself, seeks to promote his own glory: whosoever seeks to promote the glory of him who sent him, deserves credit, and is a stranger to deceit.
19 Ɖe Mose metsɔ seawo na mi oa? Gake mia dometɔ aɖeke mewɔa Mose ƒe sewo dzi o. Ke nu ka ta miedi be yewoawum ɖo?”
Did not Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?
20 Ameha la ɖo eŋu nɛ be, “Wò la, gbɔgbɔ vɔ̃ le mewò! Ame kae le didim be yeawu wò?”
The people answered, You are possessed. Who seeks to kill you.
21 Yesu gblɔ na wo be, “Nukunu ɖeka pɛ ko mewɔ, eye mi katã miaƒe mo wɔ yaa.
Jesus replied, I have performed one action, which surprises you all.
22 Ke Mose fia aʋatsotso mi, eye mietsoa aʋa na mia viwo le Dzudzɔgbe ŋkekea gɔ̃ hã dzi. (Ke menye Mosee to aʋatsotso vɛ o, ke boŋ edzɔ tso fofoawo dzi le blema.)
Moses instituted circumcision among you, (not that it is from Moses, but from the patriarchs, ) and you circumcise on the Sabbath.
23 Azɔ la, nenye be woate ŋu atso aʋa na ɖevi le Dzudzɔgbe dzi ale be womada le Mose ƒe se dzi o la, nu ka ta miele dɔmedzoe dom ɖe ŋunye be meda gbe le ameti blibo la ŋu le Dzudzɔgbe dzi?
If, on the Sabbath, a man receive circumcision, that the law of Moses may not be violated; are you incensed against me, because, on the Sabbath, I have cured a man, whose whole body was disabled?
24 Migadrɔ̃ ʋɔnu ɖe dzedzeme nu o, ke boŋ midrɔ̃ ʋɔnu ɖe dzɔdzɔenyenye nu, eye miadrɔ̃ ʋɔnu dzɔdzɔe.”
Judge not from personal regards, but judge according to justice.
25 Yerusalemtɔ aɖewo bia be, “Menye ame si dim wole be yewoawu lae nye esia oa?
Then some inhabitants of Jerusalem, said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
Lo! he speaks boldly, and they say nothing to him. Do the rulers, indeed, acknowledge that this is the Messiah?
27 Míenya afi si ame sia tso. Ne Kristo la va la, ame aɖeke manya afi si wòtso o.”
But we know whence this man is; whereas, when the Messiah shall come, no person will know whence he is.
Jesus, who was then teaching in the temple, cried, Do you know both who, and whence I am? I came not of myself. But he is true, who sent me, whom you know not.
29 gake nye la menyae, elabena nye kplie li hafi wòdɔm.”
As for me, I know him, because I came from him, and am commissioned by him.
30 Le Yesu ƒe nya siawo ta la, Yudatɔwo ƒe amegãwo di be yewoalée, gake ame aɖeke mete ŋu ka asi eŋu o, elabena Mawu ƒe ɣeyiɣi si wòɖo la mede haɖe o.
Then they sought to apprehend him, but none laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
Many of the people, however, believed on him, and said, When the Messiah shall come, will he do more miracles than this man does?
Ale nunɔlagãwo kple Farisitɔwo dɔ gbedoxɔmesrafowo ɖa be woayi aɖalée.
When the Pharisees heard that the people muttered such things concerning him, they and the chief priests dispatched officers to seize him.
33 Yesu gblɔ be, “Ɣeyiɣi kpui aɖe ko maganɔ mia gbɔ hafi matrɔ ayi ame si dɔm la gbɔ.
Jesus, therefore, said, Yet a little while I remain with you; then I go to him who sent me.
You shall seek me, but shall not find me; nor be able to come where I am.
35 Yudatɔwo bia wo nɔewo be, “Afi ka wòle ɖoɖo wɔm be yeadzo ayi, eye míate ŋu akpɔe o? Ɖe wòyina mía nɔvi siwo kaka ɖe Grikitɔwo dome la gbɔ be yeafia nu Grikitɔwoa?
The Jews said, among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? Will he go to the dispersed Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
What does he mean, by saying, You shall seek me, but shall not find me, nor be able to get thither, where I shall be.
On the last, and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come to me, and drink.
38 Elabena mawunya gblɔ be, ‘Ame si xɔ dzinye se la, tɔsisi si nye agbetsi la anɔ dzidzim tso eya amea me.’”
He who believes on me, as the scripture says, shall be like a cistern, whence rivers of living waters shall flow.
39 Yesu nɔ nu ƒom tso Gbɔgbɔ Kɔkɔe la ŋuti, elabena woana Gbɔgbɔ Kɔkɔe la ame sia ame si xɔ edzi se. Ke womena Gbɔgbɔ Kɔkɔe la haɖe o, elabena womekɔ Yesu ŋuti haɖe o.
This he spoke of the Spirit, which they who believed on him were to receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
40 Esi ameha la se nya si wògblɔ la, wo dometɔ aɖewo gblɔ be, “Le nyateƒe me la, ame siae nye Nyagblɔɖila la.”
Many of the people having heard what was spoken, said, This is certainly the prophet.
41 Ame bubu aɖewo be, “Eyae nye Kristo la.” Ke ame bubu aɖewo bia be, “Ɖe Kristo la ate ŋu atso Galilea mahã?
Some said, This is the Messiah. Others, does the Messiah come from Galilee?
42 Ɖe mawunya megblɔ be Kristo la atso David ƒe ƒome me kple Betlehem, du si me David nɔ la me oa?”
Does not the scripture say, that the Messiah will be of the posterity of David, and come from Bethlehem, the village whence David was?
43 Ale mama ɖo ameawo dome ɖe Yesu ta.
Thus the people were divided concerning him;
44 Ame aɖewo di vevie be yewoalée, gake wo dometɔ aɖeke meka asi eŋu o.
and some of them would have seized him, but no person laid hands upon him.
45 Mlɔeba la, gbedoxɔŋudzɔlawo trɔ yi nunɔlagãwo kple Farisitɔwo gbɔ, eye wobia wo be, “Nu ka ta mielée vɛ o ɖo?”
Then the officers returned to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, Wherefore have you not brought him?
46 Gbedoxɔŋudzɔlaawo ɖo eŋu na wo be, “Ame aɖeke meƒo nu abe ŋutsu sia ene kpɔ o.”
The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.
47 Farisitɔawo gblɔ na wo be, “Ɖe ŋutsu sia ble miawo hã?
The Pharisees replied, Are you also seduced?
48 Ɖe dumegã aɖe alo Farisitɔ aɖe xɔ ame sia dzi sea?
Has any of the rulers, or of the Pharisees, believed on him?
49 Gbeɖe!
But this populace, which knows not the law, is accursed.
50 Nikodemo, ame si nye Farisitɔwo dometɔ ɖeka, ame si yi Yesu gbɔ le zã me la bia etɔwo be,
Nicodemus, one of themselves, (he who came to Jesus by night, )
51 “Ɖe míaƒe se la bua fɔ ame aɖe nenye be womedrɔ̃ ʋɔnui, hese eƒe nyawo me gbã oa?”
said to them, Does our law permit us to condemn a man, without hearing him, and knowing what he has done?
52 Woɖo eŋu nɛ be, “Wò hã Galileatɔe nènyea? Wò ŋutɔ dzro mawunya la me, eye nàkpɔ be Nyagblɔɖila aɖeke matso Galilea o!” [
They answered him, Are you also a Galilean? Search, and you will find that prophets arise not out of Galilee.
53 Ale takpekpea kaka, eye ame sia ame dzo yi eƒe aƒe me.
Then every man went to his own house;
