< Yohanes 5 >
After this was the feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Ta aɖe le Yerusalem si te ɖe Alẽgbo la ŋu. Woyɔa ta sia le Hebrigbe me be, Betesda Ta. Wowɔ akpata atɔ̃ ƒo xlãe.
Now there is in Jerusalem, near the sheep-gate, a pool, called, in the Hebrew tongue, Bethesda, with five porches.
3 Nuwɔametɔ geɖewo nɔa ta sia to, ŋkuagbãtɔwo, bunɔwo, lãmetututɔwo, henɔa tsia ƒe bublu lalam. [
In these lay a great multitude of sick persons, blind, lame, withered, who waited for the moving of the water.
4 Elabena edziedzi la, mawudɔla aɖe ɖina va blua tsi la, eye dɔnɔ si ge ɖe tsia me gbã le ebublu vɔ megbe la kpɔa dɔyɔyɔ.]
For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and stirred the water. Then he who entered first after the motion of the water, was cured of whatever disease he had.
5 Ŋutsu aɖe si nɔ dɔ lém la hã nɔ teƒea sia ƒe blaetɔ̃-vɔ-enyi sɔŋ.
And a certain man was there, who had been sick thirty-eight years.
6 Esi Yesu kpɔe wòmlɔ afi ma la, egblɔ nɛ be ele dɔ lém eteƒe didi. Ebiae be, “Èdi be wò lãme nasẽa?”
When Jesus saw him lying, and knew that he had been already a long time in that condition, he said to him: Do you wish to be restored to health?
7 Dɔnɔ la ɖo eŋu nɛ be, “Aƒetɔ, meɖe kuku ame aɖeke mele asinye si akɔm ada ɖe ta sia me ne wova blui o. Ne medze agbagba be mage ɖe eme ko la, ame bubu doa ŋgɔ gena ɖe eme.”
The sick man answered him: Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred; but while I am coming, another goes down before me.
8 Yesu gblɔ nɛ be, “Tso! Ŋlɔ wò aba ne nàzɔ azɔli!”
Jesus said to him: Arise, take up your bed and walk.
And the man was immediately restored to health; and he took up his bed and walked. And that day was the sabbath.
10 Esia ta, Yudatɔwo do dɔmedzoe ɖe eŋu. Wogblɔ na ame si ŋu woda gbe le la be, “Egbee nye Dzudzɔgbe, eya ta se la meɖe mɔ be nàlé wò aba ɖe asi o. Mɔɖeɖe hã meli be nàlé aba ɖe asi anɔ yiyim o!”
The Jews, therefore, said to him that was cured: It is the sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.
11 Ŋutsu la ɖo eŋu na wo be, “Ame si da gbe le ŋunye lae gblɔ nam be makɔ nye aba.”
He answered them: He that restored me to health said to me, Take up your bed and walk.
12 Wobiae be, “Ame kae nye ame si gblɔ na wò be nàkɔ wò aba?”
Then they asked him: Who is he that said to you, Take up your bed and walk?
13 Ŋutsu la menya ame si Yesu nye o, evɔ la, Yesu hã ge ɖe ameha si nɔ afi ma la dome.
But he that had been restored to health knew not who he was; for Jesus had withdrawn himself, because a multitude was in the place.
14 Emegbe la, Yesu ke ɖe eŋu le gbedoxɔ la me, eye wògblɔ nɛ be, “Kpɔ ɖa, wò lãme sẽ, eya ta dzudzɔ nu vɔ̃ wɔwɔ, ne menye nenema o la, nu si adzɔ ɖe dziwò la avɔ̃ɖi wu gbãtɔ.”
After this Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him: Behold, you have been restored to health; sin no more, lest some worse thing befall you.
15 Ŋutsu la dzo, eye wòyi ɖagblɔ na Yudatɔwo be Yesue nye ame si da gbe le ye ŋu.
The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus that had restored him to health.
And for this reason did the Jews persecute Jesus, and seek to kill him, because he had done these things on the sabbath.
17 Yesu gblɔ na wo be, “Fofonye le eƒe dɔwɔwɔ dzi va se ɖe fifia, eya ta nye hã mele dɔ wɔm.”
But Jesus answered them: My Father works till now, and I also work.
18 Esia ta Yudatɔwo gadze agbagba vevie be yewoawui, elabena kpe ɖe Dzudzɔgbe ŋkeke la ƒe sea dzi dada ŋu la, ele Mawu yɔm be ye Fofo hetsɔ eɖokui sɔ kple Mawu.
For this reason, therefore, the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he had not only broken the sabbath, but also said that God was his own father, making himself equal with God.
19 Yesu ɖo eŋu na wo be, “Nyateƒe gblɔm mele na mi be, Vi la mate ŋu awɔ naneke le eya ŋutɔ ɖokui si o; nu si wòwɔna la nye nu si wòkpɔ Fofoa wòle wɔwɔm la, elabena nu si Fofo la wɔ la, eyae Via hã wɔna.
Then Jesus answered and said to them: Verily, verily I say to you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do; for whatever things he does, these also the Son does in like manner.
20 Elabena Fofo la lɔ̃a Via, eye wòfiaa nu sia nu si wòwɔna lae. Ɛ̃, awɔ nuku na mi be Fofo la afia nu gãwo wu esiawoe.
For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does; and he will show him greater works than these, that you may be astonished.
For as the Father raises the dead, and makes them alive, so also the Son makes alive whom he will.
22 Gawu la, Fofo la medrɔ̃a ʋɔnu ame aɖeke o, ke boŋ etsɔ ʋɔnudɔdrɔ̃ la katã de asi na Via,
For the Father judges no one, but has given all judicial authority to the Son;
23 be amewo katã nade bubu eŋu abe ale si wodea bubu Fofo la ŋu ene. Ame si mede bubu Vi la ŋu o la, efia be mede bubu Fofo la, ame si dɔe la hã ŋu o.
that all may honor the Son, as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son, honors not the Father who sent him.
24 “Mele egblɔm na mi le nyateƒe me be ame si sea nye nyawo, eye wòxɔ ame si dɔm la dzi se la akpɔ agbe mavɔ, eye womadrɔ̃ ʋɔnui o, elabena eto ku me yi ɖe agbe mavɔ la me. (aiōnios )
Verily, verily I say to you, He that hears my word, and believes on him that sent me, has eternal life, and comes not into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. (aiōnios )
25 Mele egblɔm na mi le nyateƒe me be ɣeyiɣi aɖe gbɔna, eye eva hã xoxo, esime ame kukuwo ase Mawu ƒe Vi la ƒe gbe, eye ame siwo asee la anɔ agbe.
Verily, verily I say to you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear, shall live.
26 Abe ale si agbe le Fofo la ŋutɔ me ene la, nenema kee wòna be agbe nanɔ Via hã me,
For as the Father has life in himself, so has he given to the Son also to have life in himself;
27 eye wòna ŋusẽe be wòadrɔ̃ ʋɔnu, elabena eyae nye Amegbetɔ Vi la.
and he has given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
28 “Esia megawɔ nuku na mi o, elabena ɣeyiɣi aɖe gbɔna, esi ame kuku siwo le woƒe yɔdowo me la ase Mawu ƒe Vi la ƒe gbe,
Be not astonished at this; for the hour is coming in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 eye woado go, ame siwo wɔ nu nyui la woafɔ hena agbe mavɔ la me nɔnɔ, ke adrɔ̃ ʋɔnu nu vɔ̃ɖi wɔlawo.
and shall come forth; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.
31 “Ne meɖi ɖase le ɖokuinye ŋu la, nye ɖaseɖiɖi la menye nyateƒe o.
If I testify concerning myself, my testimony is not worthy of credit.
32 Ame bubu aɖe li si ɖia ɖase tso ŋunye, eye menya be eƒe ɖaseɖiɖi tso ŋunye nye nyateƒe.
There is another that testifies concerning me, and I know that the testimony which he testifies concerning me is worthy of credit.
33 “Miawo la, miedɔ amewo ɖo ɖe Yohanes gbɔ, eye eƒe ɖaseɖiɖi ɖo kpe nyateƒe la dzi.
You sent to John, and he bore testimony to the truth.
34 Nyemexɔa amegbetɔ ƒe ɖaseɖiɖi o, gake megblɔe ko be miakpɔ ɖeɖe.
But I receive not testimony from man; yet I say these things that you may be saved.
He was the burning and shining lamp; and you were willing, for a time, to rejoice in his light.
36 “Nye la, ɖaseɖiɖi si kɔ wu Yohanes la le asinye. Elabena dɔ si Fofo la de asi nam be mawɔ, awu enu, eye mele wo wɔm la nye ɖaseɖiɖi be Fofo lae dɔm vavã.
But I have testimony greater than that of John; for the works which the Father has given me to finish, these very works which I do, testify concerning me, that the Father has sent me.
37 Eye Fofo la, ame si dɔm la ŋutɔ ɖi ɖase tso ŋunye. Miese eƒe gbe kpɔ alo kpɔe kpɔ o.
And the Father, who sent me, has testified concerning me. You have, neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
38 Eƒe nya la mele mia me o, elabena miexɔ ame si wòdɔ ɖo ɖa la dzi se o.
And his word you have not remaining in you; for whom he has sent, him you believe not.
Evɔ mawunya siae ɖi ɖase le ŋutinye, (aiōnios )
You search the scriptures, because in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify concerning me: (aiōnios )
40 gake miegbe be yewomava gbɔnye, ale be mana agbe mavɔ mi o.
and yet you refuse to come to me, that you may have life.
41 “Nyemexɔa kafukafu tso amewo gbɔ o,
I receive not honor from men.
42 gake menya mi, eye menya be Mawu ƒe lɔlɔ̃ mele miaƒe dziwo me o.
But I know you, that you have not the love of God in you.
43 Meva le Fofonye ƒe ŋkɔ me, eye miexɔm o; gake ne ame aɖe va le eya ŋutɔ ƒe ŋkɔ me la, miaxɔe.
I have come in my Father’s name, and you receive me not; if another should come in his own name, him you would receive.
44 Aleke miawɔ axɔ se ne miexɔ kafukafu tso mia nɔewo gbɔ, gake miedzea agbagba be yewoaxɔ kafukafu tso Mawu ɖeka hɔ̃ɔ la gbɔ o?
How can you believe who receive honor one from another, and seek not the honor that comes from God alone?
45 “Migasusu be matso mia nu na Fofo la o, ke boŋ Mose, ame si dzi mietsɔ miaƒe mɔkpɔkpɔwo da ɖo lae le mia nu tso ge.
Think not that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuses you, Moses, in whom you trust.
For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
47 Gake esi miexɔ Mose ƒe nya siwo wòŋlɔ dzi se o ɖe, aleke miawɔ axɔ nye nyawo dzi ase.”
But if you believe not his writings, how shall you believe my words?
