< Yohanes 18 >

1 Esi Yesu do gbe ɖa vɔ la, eya kple eƒe nusrɔ̃lawo dzo ɖato Kidron Bali la me. Woyi egodo, eye woyi abɔ aɖe si le afi ma la me.
After he had spoken these words Jesus went forth with his disciples to a place across the Ravine of the Cedars, where there was a garden into which he and his disciples went.
2 Azɔ Yuda, ame si de Yesu asi la hã nya teƒe sia, elabena Yesu kplɔa eƒe nusrɔ̃lawo yina afi ma edziedzi.
Judas the Traitor also knew this place; for Jesus and his disciples often met there.
3 Ale Yuda va abɔ la me, eye wònɔ ŋgɔ na nunɔlagãwo, Farisitɔwo, asrafowo kple kpovitɔwo. Ale wodze mɔ kple akakatiwo kple akaɖiwo kple aʋawɔnuwo va do ɖe abɔ la me afi si Yesu le.
So after getting troops and some Temple police from the chief priests and Pharisees, Judas came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.
4 Yesu nya nu siwo katã le dzɔdzɔ ge ɖe dzi la. Eyi wo gbɔ, eye wòbia wo be, “Ame ka dim miele?”
Then Jesus, knowing all that was coming upon him, went forth to meet them, and asked them, "Who is it that you are looking for?"
5 Wogblɔ be, “Yesu Nazaretitɔ la dim míele.” Yesu ɖo eŋu na wo be, “Nyee nye esi.” (Eye Yuda, ame si fia eyomemɔ la hã nɔ tsitre ɖe wo gbɔ le afi ma.)
"For Jesus of Nazareth," they answered. He said to them, "I am he." (Now Judas also, the betrayer, was standing with them.)
6 Esi Yesu gblɔ be, “Nyee nye esi,” la, ameawo katã zɔ yi megbe, eye wodze anyi.
When Jesus said "I am he," they drew back and fell to the ground;
7 Yesu gabia wo be, “Ame ka dim miele?” Eye wogblɔ be, “Yesu Nazaretitɔ la dim míele.”
so he asked them once more, "Whom are you looking for?" and they replied, "Jesus of Nazareth."
8 Yesu gblɔ be, “Megblɔe na mi be nyee nye esi. Nenye nye dim miele la, ekema mina ame siawo nadzo.”
"I have already told you that I am he," said Jesus. "If, then, you are looking for me, let these go their way."
9 Yesu gblɔ nya sia bena wòawu nya si wògblɔ ɖi la nu be, “Nyemebu ame siwo nètsɔ nam la dometɔ aɖeke o.”
"(In order that the word which he had spoken might be fulfilled, "Of those whom thou hast given me I have not lost one.")
10 Ke Simɔn Petro ɖe eƒe yi le aku me, eye wòkpa ɖusimeto na Malkus, nunɔlagãtɔ la ƒe subɔla.
Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it, and striking at the high priest’s slave, cut off his right ear.
11 Yesu gblɔ na Petro be, “Tsɔ wò yi la de aku me. Ɖe mele be mano kplu si Fofo la tsɔ nam la oa?”
(The slave’s name was Malchus.) Then Jesus said to Peter. "Put up your sword in its sheath. the cup which my Father has given me, shall I not drink it?"
12 Ale Yudatɔwo ƒe kpovitɔwo kple asrafowo kpakple asrafomegãwo lé Yesu, eye woblae.
So the troops and their commandant and the Jewish police took Jesus, and bound him,
13 Gbã la, wokplɔe yi na Anas, si nye Kayafa to, ame si nye nunɔlagã le ƒe ma me.
and led him to Annas first. (For Annas was the Father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was the high priest that year -
14 Kayafae nye ame si ɖo aɖaŋu na Yudatɔwo be anyo be ame ɖeka naku ɖe dukɔ la ta.
the Caiaphas who had advised the Jews that it was for their advantage that one man should die for the people.)
15 Simɔn Petro kple nusrɔ̃la ɖeka wodze Yesu yome. Esi nunɔlagã la dze si nusrɔ̃la sia ta la, woɖe mɔ nɛ wòge ɖe nunɔlagã la ƒe xɔxɔnu,
Meanwhile Simon Peter was following Jesus, and so was another disciple who was known to the high priest, and they went in with Jesus into the court of the high priest’s palace.
16 gake enɔ na Petro be wòalala le agboa nu. Nusrɔ̃la bubu sia, ame si nunɔlagã la nya la, trɔ gbɔ va ƒo nu na ɖetugbi si nɔ agboa nu dzɔm, eye wòɖe mɔ na Petro wòge ɖe eme.
But Peter took his stand outside, near the door. So the other disciple who was known to the high priest came out and spoke to the doorkeeper and brought Peter in.
17 Dɔlanyɔnuvi la bia Petro be, “Menye Yesu ƒe nusrɔ̃lawo dometɔ ɖekae nènye oa?” Petro ɖo eŋu nɛ be, “Gbeɖe, menye eƒe nusrɔ̃la menye o.”
The doorkeeper (a maid servant) then said to Peter, "Are not you also one of this man’s disciples?" "No I am not," he answered.
18 Vuvɔ nɔ wɔwɔm, ale subɔlawo kple kpovitɔwo nɔ dzo ƒum be woƒe lãme naxɔ dzo. Ale Petro hã tsi tsitre ɖe wo gbɔ nɔ dzoa ƒum.
Now the slaves and the attendants were standing and warming themselves about a charcoal fire, which they had made because it was cold; and Peter also stood with them, and was warming himself.
19 Nunɔlagã la bia gbe Yesu tso eƒe nusrɔ̃lawo kple eƒe nufiafia ŋu.
Then the high priest questioned Jesus about his disciples and about his teaching.
20 Yesu ɖo eŋu na wo be, “Meƒo nu le dutoƒo na xexea me. Mefia nu edziedzi le ƒuƒoƒewo kple gbedoxɔ la me, afi si Yudatɔwo katã ƒoa ƒu ɖo. Nyemegblɔ nya aɖeke le ɣaɣlaƒe o.
Jesus answered him. "I have spoken to all the world openly. I always taught in a synagogue and in the temple, places where all the Jews are wont to assemble, and in secret I have spoken nothing.
21 Nu ka ta miele gbe biamem ɖo? Mibia gbe ame siwo se nye nyawo. Wose nya siwo megblɔ la.”
"Why do you question me? Ask those who heard what I have said to them; these witnesses here know what I said."
22 Esi Yesu gblɔ nya sia la, asrafo siwo le Yesu ŋu dzɔm la dometɔ ɖeka ƒo tome nɛ hegblɔ be, “Nenema wòle be nàɖo nya ŋu na nunɔlagã lae?”
When he had spoken these words, one of the police standing by gave him a blow with his hand, saying as he did so, "Is that the way you answer the high priest?"
23 Yesu gblɔ nɛ be, “Ne megblɔ nya vɔ̃ aɖe la, ekema tɔ asi nya vɔ̃ si megblɔ la dzi. Gake ne nyateƒe gblɔm mele la, nu ka ta nèƒom ɖo?”
Jesus replied "If I have said anything wrong, give evidence concerning the wrong; but if I said what was true, why do you strike me?"
24 Ale Yesu nɔ babla, eye Anas na wokplɔe yi na Kayafa, nunɔlagã la.
Then Annas sent him in chains to Caiaphas, the high priest.
25 Esi Simɔn Petro ganɔ dzoa ƒum la, ame bubu gabiae be, “Menye eƒe nusrɔ̃lawo dometɔ ɖekae nènye oa?” Petro gasẽ nu gblɔ be, “Gbeɖe, menye eƒe nusrɔ̃lae menye o.”
Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said therefore to him, "You are not also one of his disciples, are you not?" He denied it, saying "I am not."
26 Nunɔlagã la ƒe dɔlawo dometɔ ɖeka si nye ame si ƒe to Petro kpa la ƒe ƒometɔ aɖe hã bia Petro be, “Menye wòe mekpɔ le abɔa me, nèle Yesu ŋu oa?”
One of the slaves of the high priest, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, said, "Did not I myself see you with him in the garden."
27 Ke Petro gasẽ nu be yemenya Yesu o, eye enumake, koklo ku atɔ.
Peter again denied it; and at that very moment a cock crew.
28 Ale Yudatɔwo kplɔ Yesu tso Kayafa gbɔ yi ɖe Roma mɔmefia ƒe aƒe mee. Esi ŋu ke ta la, ame siwo kplɔ Yesu ɖo la gbe be yewomage ɖe aƒea me o, elabena womedi be yewoagblẽ kɔ ɖo na yewo ɖokuiwo o; wodi be yewoaɖu Ŋutitotoŋkeke la.
From the house of Caiaphas they took Jesus to the Praetorium, and it was dawn. They themselves would not enter the Praetorium, in order that they might not be ceremonially defiled, but might be able to eat the Passover.
29 Ale Pilato, Roma mɔmefia la ŋutɔ do go va kpe wo, eye wòbia wo be, “Nya ka mietsɔ ɖe ame sia ŋu?”
So Pilate came outside to them and asked, "What charge do you bring against this man?"
30 Woɖo eŋu nɛ be, “Ɖe ame sia menye hlɔ̃dola o la, míele ekplɔ ge vɛ na wò o.”
In reply they said, "If he had not been a criminal, we should not have handed him over you."
31 Pilato gblɔ be, “Mia ŋutɔwo, mikplɔe yii, eye miatsɔ miaƒe sewo adrɔ̃ ʋɔnui.” Yudatɔwo gaɖo eŋu nɛ be, “Ŋusẽ mele mía si be míatso kufia na ame aɖeke o.”
"Take him yourselves," answered Pilate, "and judge him according to your law."
32 Esia dzɔ be nya siwo Yesu gblɔ ɖi tso ku si ƒomevi wòaku ŋu la nava eme.
The Jews answered him, "We are not allowed to put anyone to death" (that the word of Jesus might be fulfilled in which he predicted the kind of death he was to die).
33 Pilato trɔ yi ɖe eƒe fiasã la me, eye wòna wokplɔ Yesu va egbɔe, eye wòbiae be, “Wòe nye Yudatɔwo ƒe fia la?”
So Pilate went into the Praetorium again, and summoned Jesus. "Are you the King of the Jews?" he said.
34 Yesu biae be, “Wò ŋutɔ wò susu nu nèbia nya sia ɖo loo alo ame aɖee gblɔe na wòa?”
Jesus answered, "Are you saying this of your own accord, or did others say it to you about me?"
35 Pilato ɖo eŋu dɔmedzoetɔe be, “Yudatɔe menye hafi nèle nya sia biamem mahã? Wò ŋutɔ wò amewo kple miaƒe nunɔlagãwoe kplɔ wò va gbɔnyee? Nu ka nèwɔ? Agɔ ka nèdze?”
"I am not a Jew, am I?" replied Pilate; "It is your own nation and the high priests who have handed you over to me. What have you done?"
36 Yesu ɖo eŋu nɛ be, “Nye fiaɖuƒe metso xexe sia me o. Ɖe nye fiaɖuƒe tso xexe sia me la, ne nye dɔlawo awɔ aʋa ɖe nunye be Yudatɔwo ƒe amegãwo malém o. Nye fiaɖuƒe tso teƒe bubu.”
Jesus answered him. "My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants have fought hard that I should not be handed the Jews; but in reality my kingdom is not of such origins."
37 Pilato gabiae be, “Ekema fiae nenye nyateƒea?” Yesu ɖo eŋu be, “Ègblɔ nyateƒe be fiae menye. Le nyateƒe me la, susu sia ta wodzim ɖo, eye esia tae meva xexea me ɖo, be maɖi ɖase tso nyateƒe la ŋu. Ame sia ame si xɔ nyateƒe la dzi se la ɖoa tom.”
"You are a king, then? You!" said Pilate. "You say truly that I am a king." answered Jesus, "for this purpose I was born, and to this end came I into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Every man who is of the truth listens to my voice."
38 Pilato biae be, “Nu kae nye nyateƒe la?” Esi Pilato gblɔ nya sia la, egado go ɖagblɔ na Yudatɔwo be, “Nyemekpɔ fɔɖiɖi aɖeke le ame sia ŋu o.
Pilate said to him, "What is truth?" As he said this, he went outside again to the Jews and said to them.
"I find no crime in this man. Now it is a custom of yours that I release one prisoner to you at the time of the Passover feast. Do you wish me to release to you the King of the Jews?"
40 Ke ameawo do ɣli gblɔ be, “Gbeɖe, menye eya o! Ɖe asi le Barabas ŋu na mí!” Baraba sia nye adzodala aɖe si wode gaxɔ me la.
Then they all shouted again. "No, not him! Barabbas!" Now Barabbas was a robber.
