< Hiob 5 >
1 “Ne àlɔ̃ la, yɔ ame aɖe gake ame kae atɔ na wò? Kɔkɔetɔwo dometɔ ka ŋu nàtrɔ ɖo?
“Pray, call, is there any to answer you? And to which of the holy ones do you turn?
2 Tosesẽ wua bometsila eye ŋubiã wua numanyala.
For provocation slays the perverse, And envy puts to death the simple,
3 Nye ŋutɔ mekpɔ bometsila wònɔ ke tom gake kasia woƒo fi de eƒe aƒe.
I have seen the perverse taking root, And I mark his habitation straight away,
4 Dedinɔnɔ le adzɔge ke na viawo, wobua fɔe le ʋɔnu eye ame aɖeke meli aʋli eta o.
His sons are far from safety, And they are bruised in the gate, And there is no deliverer.
5 Dɔwuitɔwo ɖua nuku si wòxa, woɖea esiwo tsi ŋuwo me gɔ̃ hã eye ame siwo wum tsikɔ le la ƒe ve me ƒuna ɖe eƒe kesinɔnuwo ŋu.
Whose harvest the hungry eat, And even take it from the thorns, And the designing swallowed their wealth.
6 Elabena fukpekpe medoa go tso ke me alo dzɔgbevɔ̃e medona tso anyigba tume o.
For sorrow does not come forth from the dust, Nor does misery spring up from the ground.
7 Gake abe ale si dzoxi dzona yia dzii ene la, nenemae wodzi ame na hiãtuame.
For man is born to misery, And the sparks go high to fly.
8 “Ke nenye nyee wònye la, anye ne maɖe kuku na Mawu atsɔ nye nya aɖo eƒe ŋkume.
Yet I inquire for God, And for God I give my word,
9 Ewɔa dzesi siwo gɔme womate ŋu ase o eye wòwɔa nukunu siwo womate ŋu axlẽ o.
Doing great things, and there is no searching. Wonderful, until there is no numbering.
10 Enana tsi dzana ɖe anyigba dzi, eye wòɖoa tsi ɖe gbegbe.
Who is giving rain on the face of the land, And is sending waters on the out-places.
11 Edoa ɖokuibɔbɔlawo ɖe dzi eye wòkɔa ame siwo le nu xam la dana ɖe dziɖeɖi me.
To set the low on a high place, And the mourners have been high [in] safety.
12 Egblẽa ayetɔwo ƒe ɖoɖowo me, ale be woƒe asiwo mekpɔa dzidzedze o.
Making void thoughts of the cunning, And their hands do not execute wisdom.
13 Eléa nunyalawo le woƒe ayemenuwɔwɔwo me eye wòkplɔa ame drãwo ƒe nu drã wɔwɔ dzonae.
Capturing the wise in their subtlety, And the counsel of wrestling ones was hurried,
14 Viviti dona ɖe wo le ŋkeke me eye wotsaa asi blukɔ me abe zã mee ene.
By day they meet darkness, And as night—they grope at noon.
15 Eɖea hiãtɔwo tso yi si le woƒe nu me la me eye wòɖea wo le ŋusẽtɔwo ƒe fego me.
He saves the needy from the sword in their mouth, And from a strong hand,
16 Ale mɔkpɔkpɔ ɖoa hiãtɔ si eye nu madzɔmadzɔ miaa eƒe nu.
And there is hope for the poor, And perverseness has shut her mouth.
17 “Woayra ŋutsu si Mawu ɖɔna ɖo eya ta mègado vlo Ŋusẽkatãtɔ la ƒe amehehe o.
Behold, the blessedness of mortal man, God reproves him: And do not despise the discipline of the Mighty,
18 Elabena edea abi ame ŋu eye wògablanɛ, ewɔa nuvevi ame gake eƒe asi yɔa dɔ.
For He pains, and He binds up, He strikes, and His hands heal.
19 Aɖe wò le dzɔgbevɔ̃e ade me eye le adrelia me la, vɔ̃ aɖeke mawɔ wò o.
In six distresses He delivers you, And in seven evil does not strike on you.
20 Aɖe wò le ku ƒe asi me le dɔŋɔli eye le aʋa me la, aɖe wò le yi ƒe asi me.
In famine He has redeemed you from death, And in battle from the hands of the sword.
21 Aɖe wò le aɖeɖiƒoame me, eye màvɔ̃ ne gbegblẽ va o.
When the tongue scourges you are hid, And you are not afraid of destruction, When it comes.
22 Wò la àko nu ne gbegblẽ kple dɔwuame le nu gblẽm eye màvɔ̃ anyigbadzilã wɔadãwo o.
At destruction and at hunger you mock, And of the beast of the earth, You are not afraid.
23 Elabena wò kple kpe siwo le agble me la miabla nu eye lã wɔadãwo anɔ anyi kpli wò le ŋutifafa me.
(For with sons of the field [is] your covenant, And the beast of the field Has been at peace with you.)
24 Ànyae be wò agbadɔ le dedie eye ne èxlẽ wò nunɔamesiwo la, àkpɔe be ɖeke mebu o.
And you have known that your tent [is] peace, And inspected your habitation, and do not err,
25 Ànyae be viwòwo asɔ gbɔ eye wò dzidzimeviwo asɔ agbɔ abe gbe mumu le anyigba dzi ene.
And have known that your seed [is] numerous, And your offspring as the herb of the earth;
26 Ànɔ agbe wòade edeƒe, ayi yɔ me kple dzidzɔ abe lu ye woxa hebla le nuŋeɣi ene.
You come in full age to the grave, As the going up of a stalk in its season.
27 “Míedo esia kpɔ eye wònye nyateƒe. Eya ta see ne nànɔ agbe ɖe eŋu.”
Behold, this—we searched it out—it [is] right, listen; And you, know for yourself!”
