< Hiob 1 >

1 Ŋutsu aɖe nɔ Uznyigba dzi si ŋkɔe nye Hiob. Ŋutsu sia nye mokakamanɔŋutɔ kple ame dzɔdzɔe, evɔ̃a Mawu, eye wòtsri nu vɔ̃ɖi.
There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turning away from evil.
2 Viŋutsu adre kple vinyɔnu etɔ̃ nɔ esi,
There were born to him seven sons and three daughters.
3 kpe ɖe alẽ akpe adre, kposɔ akpe etɔ̃, nyi siwo wode kɔkuti kɔ na woŋlɔa agblee eveve teƒe alafa atɔ̃ kple tedzi alafa atɔ̃ kple subɔla gbogbo aɖewo ŋu. Eyae nye ŋutsu si de ŋgɔ wu ame sia ame le ɣedzeƒetɔwo katã dome.
His possessions also were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the people of the east.
4 Via ŋutsuwo ɖoa nuɖukplɔ̃ na wo xɔlɔ̃wo ɖe woƒe aƒewo me ɖe wo nɔewo yome eye wokpea wo nɔvinyɔnu etɔ̃awo be woaɖu nu ano nu kple yewo.
His sons went and held a feast in the house of each one on his day; and they sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
5 Ne kplɔ̃ɖoɖo la dze wo dzi kpe ɖo vɔ la, Hiob dɔa ame ɖa woɖakɔa wo ŋuti. Esaa numevɔ ɖe wo dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe nu, le ŋdi kanya elabena esusuna be, “Ɖewohĩ vinyewo wɔ nu vɔ̃ eye wodo ɖiŋu na Mawu le woƒe dziwo me.” Esiae Hiob wɔna ɖaa.
It was so, when the days of their feasting had run their course, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, "It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts." Job did so continually.
6 Gbe ɖeka la, dziƒodɔlawo va be woatsɔ wo ɖokui afia Yehowa, eye Satana hã nɔ wo dome.
Now it happened on the day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, that Satan also came among them.
7 Yehowa bia Satana be, “Afi ka nètso?” Satana ɖo eŋu na Yehowa be, “Metso tsatsa ge le anyigba dzi, menɔ yiyim nɔ gbɔgbɔm le edzi.”
The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?" Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, "From going back and forth on the earth, and from walking up and down on it."
8 Tete Yehowa bia Satana be, “Èlé ŋku ɖe nye dɔla Hiob ŋua? Ame aɖeke mele anyigba dzi de enu o; enye mokakamanɔŋutɔ kple ame dzɔdzɔe, ŋutsu si vɔ̃a Mawu eye wòtsri nu vɔ̃ɖi.”
The LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil."
9 Ke Satana bia Mawu be, “Ɖe Hiob vɔ̃a Mawu dzodzroa?
Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, "Does Job fear God for nothing?
10 Menye wòe tɔ kpɔ ƒo xlã eya amea, eƒemetɔwo kple nu sia nu si le esi la oa? Èyra eƒe asinudɔwo ale be eƒe alẽhawo kple lãhawo gbagbã ɖe anyigba dzi.
Haven't you made a hedge around him, and around his household, and around all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his livestock have increased in the land.
11 Ke do wò asi ɖa, ne nàxlã asi ɖe nu siwo katã le esi, ekema le nyateƒe me aƒo fi ade wò le wò ŋutɔ wò ŋkume.”
But put forth your hand now, and strike all that he has, and he will curse you to your face."
12 Yehowa gblɔ na Satana be, “Enyo ta, nu sia nu si le esi la le asiwò me, ke mègaka asibidɛ eya amea ŋutɔ ŋu o.” Ale Satana dzo le Yehowa ŋkume.
The LORD said to Satan, "Look, all that he has is in your power. Only do not put forth your hand on him." So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.
13 Gbe ɖeka la, esime Hiob ƒe viŋutsuwo kple via nyɔnuwo nɔ nu ɖum, nɔ wain nom le wo nɔvi tsitsitɔ ƒe aƒe me la,
Now the day came when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house,
14 dɔla aɖe va Hiob gbɔ gblɔ nɛ be, “Nyiawo nɔ agble ŋlɔm, tedziawo nɔ gbe ɖum le wo gbɔ lɔƒo,
that there came a messenger to Job, and said, "The oxen were plowing, and the donkeys grazing beside them,
15 kasia Sebeatɔwo va dze wo dzi kplɔ wo dzoe. Wowu dɔlawo kple yi eye nye ɖeka koe te ŋu si be mava gblɔe na wò!”
and Sheba attacked, and took them away. Yes, they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you."
16 Esi wòganɔ nu ƒom ko la, dɔla bubu va eye wògblɔ be, “Mawu ƒe dzo ge tso dziƒo eye wòfia alẽawo kple dɔlawo, nye ɖeka koe si be mava gblɔe na wò!”
While he was still speaking, there also came another, and said, "The fire of God has fallen from the sky, and has burned up the sheep and the young men, and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you."
17 Esi mekpɔ ɖe nu le nya la me o la, dɔla bubu va gblɔ be, “Kaldeatɔwo ƒe adzoha etɔ̃ va dze wò kposɔwo dzi eye wolé wo dzoe. Wowu dɔlawo kple yi, nye ɖeka koe te ŋu si be mava gblɔe na wò!”
While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, "The Kasdim made three bands, and swept down on the camels, and have taken them away, and killed the young men with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you."
18 Esi ame sia hã mekpɔ ɖe nu le nya si gblɔm wònɔ me o la, dɔla bubu ge ɖe eme eye wògblɔ be, “Viwò ŋutsuwo kple nyɔnuwo nɔ nu ɖum, nɔ wain nom le wo nɔvi tsitsitɔ ƒe aƒe me.
While he was still speaking, there came also another, and said, "Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house,
19 Kasia ya sesẽ aɖe ƒo tso gbegbe va lɔ xɔ la ƒe dzogoe eneawo ɖe me. Tete xɔ la mu dze wo dzi eye woku; nye ɖeka koe te ŋu si be mava gblɔe na wò!”
and look, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young men, and they are dead. I alone have escaped to tell you."
20 Esi Hiob se esia la, etso hedze eƒe awu ʋlaya eye wòlũ eƒe taɖa. Edze klo de ta agu,
Then Job arose, and tore his robe, and shaved his head, and fell down with his face to the ground.
21 hedo gbe ɖa be, “Amamae menɔ hafi do go tso danye ƒe dɔ me, eye amamae manɔ hafi atrɔ adzo. Yehowae na eye Yehowae gaxɔe; woakafu Yehowa ƒe ŋkɔ!”
He said, "Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return there. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD."
22 Le esiawo katã me la, Hiob mewɔ nu vɔ̃ to fɔbubu Mawu me be ewɔ nu gbegblẽ o.
In all this, Job did not sin, nor charge God with wrongdoing.
