1 Esia nye Yehowa ƒe nya si va na Nyagblɔɖila Yeremia tso Filistitɔwo ŋu hafi Farao va dze Gaza dzi:
The word of YHWH that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning the Philistines, before that Pharaoh struck Gaza.
2 Ale Yehowa gblɔe nye esi: “Kpɔ ale si tɔwo le ɖɔɖɔm le anyiehe ɖa, woaɖɔ agbagba, anɔ sisim kple ŋusẽ. Woaɖɔ axɔ anyigba kple nu sia nu si le edzi, duwo kple wo me nɔlawo katã dzi. Ameawo alé avi me sesĩe eye ame siwo katã le anyigba dzi la, afa avi kple ɣli,
"Thus says YHWH: 'Look, waters rise up out of the north, and shall become an overflowing stream, and shall overflow the land and all that is in it, the city and those who dwell in it; and the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall wail.
3 nenye be wose sɔ siwo le du dzi la ƒe afɔzi kple futɔwo ƒe tasiaɖamwo ƒe hoowɔwɔ kple woƒe afɔtiwo ƒe totro. Fofowo matrɔ ɖe wo viwo ŋu be woakpe ɖe wo ŋu o elabena woƒe asi adɔ agblɔ ɖe wo ŋu,
At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong ones, at the rushing of his chariots, at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers do not look back to their children for feebleness of hands;
4 elabena ŋkeke la ɖo be woatsrɔ̃ Filistitɔwo katã, eye woaɖe ame siwo tsi agbe la ɖa, ame siwo ate ŋu akpe ɖe Tiro kple Sidon ŋu. Esusɔ vie Yehowa natsrɔ̃ Filistitɔwo, ame siwo nye Kaftor ƒuta ƒe ame mamlɛawo.
because of the day that comes to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every helper who remains: for YHWH will destroy the Philistines, the remnant of the isle of Caphtor.
5 Gaza ako ta kolikoli abe funyila ene, eye wòaɖo asi Askelon dzi be wòazi ɖoɖoe. O, mi ame siwo susɔ ɖe tagba, ɣe ka ɣie miasi mia ɖokuiwo ase ɖo?
Baldness has come on Gaza; Ashkelon is brought to nothing, the remnant of their valley: how long will you cut yourself?
6 “Èdo ɣli be, ‘Ao, Yehowa ƒe yi, ɣe ka ɣi hafi nàgbɔ ɖe eme? Tɔ, trɔ yi ɖe wò aku me eye nànɔ anyi kpoo.’
You sword of YHWH, "how long will it be before you be quiet? Put up yourself into your sheath; rest, and be still."
7 Aleke wòadzudzɔe esi wònye Yehowae ɖoe nɛ, esi wòɖe gbe nɛ be wòadze Askelon kple ƒutaduwo dzi?”
How can it be quiet, since YHWH has given you a command? Against Ashkelon, and against the seashore, there has he appointed it.'"
