< Hosea 1 >

The Lord sent a message to Hosea son of Beeri at the time when Uzziah, Jotham, and Ahaz were the kings of Judah, and Jeroboam son of Jehoash was the king of Israel.
2 Gbedeasi gbãtɔe nye esi: Yehowa gblɔ na Hosea be, “Yi nàɖe ɖetugbi aɖe si nye gbolo, ale be vi siwo wòadzi na wò la, woanye ahasiviwo. Esia aɖe alakpanu siwo wɔm nye dukɔ la le ɖe ŋutinye la afia, wowɔ ahasi to mawu bubuwo subɔsubɔ me, eye wotrɔ le Yehowa yome.”
The Lord began speaking through Hosea by telling him, “Go and take a wife who is a prostitute and have children born to a prostitute because those living in this land have committed terrible prostitution by turning away from the Lord.”
3 Ale Hosea yi ɖaɖe Gomer, Dioblaim ƒe vinyɔnu, eye wòdzi ŋutsuvi nɛ.
So Hosea went and married Gomer, the daughter of Diblaim. She became pregnant and bore Hosea a son.
4 Eye Yehowa gblɔ na Hosea be, “Tsɔ ŋkɔ nɛ be Yezreel, elabena madidi o la, mahe to na Yehu ƒe aƒe la le ʋu si wokɔ ɖe anyi le Yezreel ta, eye matsi Israel ƒe fiaɖuƒe la nu.
The Lord told Hosea, “Call him Jezreel, because I am going to punish the house of Jehu for the blood he shed at Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel.
5 Gbe ma gbe la, magbã Israel ƒe ŋusẽ le Yezreel ƒe balime.”
On that day I will break Israel's military power in the valley of Jezreel.”
6 Sẽe kple sẽe la, Gomer gafɔ fu, eye wòdzi nyɔnuvi. Yehowa gblɔ na Hosea be, “Tsɔ ŋkɔ nɛ be Loruhama, si gɔmee nye, ‘Nyemagakpɔ nublanui nɛ o,’ elabena nyemagakpɔ nublanui na Israel, atsɔ vɔ̃ akee o,
Gomer became pregnant again and gave birth to a daughter. The Lord told Hosea, “Call her Lo-ruhamah, because I will no longer love the house of Israel and certainly not forgive them.
7 gake makpɔ nublanui na Yuda. Nye ŋutɔ mawɔ aʋa kple woƒe futɔwo, aɖe wo le woƒe asi me, gake menye to dati, yi, aʋawɔnuwo, sɔ kple sɔdolawo dzi o, ke boŋ to Yehowa, woƒe Mawu la dzi.”
But I will have pity on the house of Judah, and I will save them—but I will not save them by bow or sword or war or horses and riders.”
8 Esi Gomer tso no na Loruhama vɔ la, egafɔ fu, eye wòdzi ŋutsuvi.
After Gomer had weaned Lo-ruhamah she became pregnant again and gave birth to a son.
9 Yehowa gblɔ na Hosea be, “Tsɔ ŋkɔ nɛ be Loami, si gɔmee nye, ‘Menye tɔnyee o,’ elabena Israel menye tɔnye o, eye nye hã nyemenye eƒe Mawu o.
The Lord told Hosea, “Call him Lo-ammi, because you are not my people and I am not your God.
10 “Ɣeyiɣi li gbɔna esi Israel akpɔ dzidzedze, azu dukɔ gã aɖe; le ɣe ma ɣi me la, ame aɖeke mate ŋu axlẽ wo o, elabena woasɔ gbɔ abe ƒutake ene! Ale be, le esi megblɔ na wo be, ‘Mienye nye dukɔ o’ teƒe la, magblɔ na wo be, ‘Mienye vinyewo, Mawu Gbagbe la ƒe viwo.’
Even so the number of the people of Israel will be like the sand on the seashore that cannot be measured or counted. Then right there at the place where they were told ‘you are not my people’ they will be called ‘the children of the living God.’
11 Ekema Yudatɔwo kple Israelviwo awɔ ɖeka, eye woaɖo fia ɖeka; wo katã woatrɔ tso aboyome ɖekae, eye Yezreel ƒe ŋkeke la anye ŋkeke gã aɖe ŋutɔ.”
The people of Israel and the people of Judah will be gathered together and they will choose one leader for themselves and they will take possession of the land, and the day of Jezreel will be great.”
