< Hebritɔwo 7 >

FOR this Melchisedec, king of Salem, a priest of God most high, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him;
Melkizedek ƒe ŋkɔa gɔmee nye “Dzɔdzɔenyenye ƒe fia.” Eye eya kee nye Ŋutifafafia, elabena du si me wònye fia lee nye Salem si gɔmee nye “Ŋutifafa.”
to whom also Abraham gave a tenth share of all the spoil: being, as the interpretation of his name imports, first, King of righteousness, and then also King of Salem, that is, King of peace:
3 Fofo kple dada mele Melkizedek si o, eye nuŋlɔɖi aɖeke meli tso tɔgbuiawo ŋuti o. Dzigbe alo kugbe meli nɛ o, ale eƒe agbe ɖeko wòle abe Mawu Vi la tɔ ene, ame si nye nunɔla tso mavɔ me yi ɖe mavɔ me.
without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but in exact resemblance with the Son of God, abideth a priest for ever.
Now observe how great is this Melchisedec, to whom even Abraham the patriarch gave the tenth of the spoils.
5 Azɔ la, se la bia tso Levi ƒe viwo ame siwo nye nunɔlawo la si be woaxɔ nu ewolia le woƒe dukɔmeviwo si, ame siwo nye wo nɔviwo, togbɔ be wo nɔviawo nye Abraham ƒe dzidzimeviwo hã.
For they indeed of the sons of Levi, who are admitted to priesthood, have an order to receive tithes from the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though also sprung from the loins of Abraham.
But he who derived not his genealogy from them, received tithes from Abraham, and blessed him who had the promises;
7 abe ale si ame sia ame nya ene la, zi geɖe la, ame si naa yayra la kɔna wua ame si yram wòle.
but without all dispute the inferior receives benediction from the superior.
And here indeed dying men receive the tithes, but there he hath a testimony borne to him that he liveth.
9 Míate ŋu agblɔ le Levi, ame si xɔ nu ewolia ŋuti gɔ̃ hã be exe nu ewolia to Abraham dzi,
And, if I may so say, through Abraham even Levi, who receiveth tithes, paid tithes.
10 elabena esi Melkizedek do go Abraham la, Levi nɔ tɔgbuia, Abraham ƒe alime; womekpɔ dzii o.
For he was as yet in the loins of his father when Melchisedec met him.
11 Elabena to Levi ƒe viwo ƒe nunɔladɔwɔwɔ dzi, wona se la Israelviwo. Azɔ la, nenye be Leviviwo ƒe nunɔladɔwɔwɔ ɖe wòde blibo la, magahiã be woatsɔ nunɔla bubu vɛ o, ame si nye nunɔla le Melkizedek ƒe ɖoɖo nu, ke menye le Aron ƒe ɖoɖo nu o.
If therefore there was perfection by the Levitical priesthood (for under that the people had the law given to them), what farther need was there that another priest should arise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
12 Elabena ne tɔtrɔ va nunɔlaɖuɖu ŋuti la, ele be tɔtrɔ nava Se la hã me.
For the priesthood being transferred, there is of necessity an abrogation of the law also.
13 Eya ame si ŋu wogblɔ nu siawo katã le la tso to bubu me, eye ame aɖeke metso to ma me kpɔ subɔ abe nunɔla ene le vɔsamlekpui la ŋgɔ o,
For he to whom these things are spoken belonged to another tribe, in which no man approached the altar.
14 elabena eme kɔ ƒãa be míaƒe Aƒetɔ la dzɔ tso Yuda ƒe to la me, eye ku ɖe to ma ŋuti la, Mose megblɔ nya aɖeke ku ɖe woƒe nunɔlaɖuɖu ŋuti o.
For it is evident that our Lord sprang from Judah; to which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning the priesthood;
and it is yet more abundantly evident, that there should arise another priest after the likeness of Melchisedec,
16 ame si va zu nunɔla, menye to ɖoɖo si wowɔ da ɖi ku ɖe eƒe dzɔtsoƒe ŋuti o, ke boŋ ku ɖe ŋusẽ si le agbe si mekuna o la ŋuti.
who was not made such by the law of a carnal commandment, but by the power of a life indissoluble.
17 Psalmoŋlɔla ɖe nu sia fia mi kɔtɛe esi wògblɔ tso Kristo ŋuti bena, “Wòe nye nunɔla le Melkizedek ƒe ɖoƒe nu tso mavɔ me yi mavɔ me.” (aiōn g165)
For the testimony is, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. (aiōn g165)
18 Wotsɔ ɖoɖo gbãtɔ si wowɔ la da ɖe aga, elabena egbɔdzɔ, eye menyo na naneke o
For there is indeed an abrogation of the preceding command, because of its weakness and inutility.
19 (elabena Mose ƒe Se la mate ŋu awɔ naneke wòade blibo o), eye azɔ la, wohe mɔkpɔkpɔ yeye vɛ to esi dzi míate ŋu ate ɖe Mawu ŋu kpokploe.
For the law led to no perfection, but was an introduction to a better hope, by which we draw nigh unto God.
Moreover, forasmuch as he was not made priest without an oath,
(for they indeed were made priests without an oath; but he with an oath, by him who said unto him, “The Lord hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:”) (aiōn g165)
by so much is Jesus become the surety of a better testament.
And they indeed are many who were made priests, because by death they were prevented from abiding in their office:
24 gake Yesu ya le agbe tegbetegbe. Seɖoƒe meli na eya ƒe nunɔladɔ o. (aiōn g165)
but this person, because he abideth for ever, hath a priesthood that passeth not over to another. (aiōn g165)
25 Eya ta ŋusẽ le esi be wòaɖe ame siwo va Mawu gbɔ to eya amea dzi la blibo, elabena ele agbe tegbee le nya xɔm ɖe akɔ na wo.
Wherefore also he is able to save to the uttermost those who come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
26 Ekema Yesue nye nunɔlagã ma si kpɔa míaƒe hiahiãwo gbɔ, ame si le kɔkɔe, kpɔtsɔtsɔ mele eŋu o, ame si le dzadzɛe, ame si woɖe ɖe aga tso nu vɔ̃ wɔlawo gbɔ, eye wokɔe ɖe dzi gbɔ dziƒowo ŋui.
For such an high-priest was suitable to us, holy, inoffensive, spotless, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens:
27 Mele abe nunɔlagã bubuwo ene o, elabena mehiã be wòasa vɔ gbe sia gbe, gbã ɖe eya ŋutɔ ƒe nu vɔ̃wo ta, eye evelia, ɖe ame bubuwo tɔ ta o. Esa vɔ ɖe woƒe nu vɔ̃wo ta zi ɖeka hena ɣeyiɣiawo katã, esi wòtsɔ eɖokui hena.
who hath not daily need, as the high-priests, first, to offer sacrifice for their own sins, afterwards, for those of the people: for this he did once for all, when he offered up himself.
For the law constitutes men high-priests, though they have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which is since the law, constitutes the Son, unto eternity completely perfect. (aiōn g165)
