< Hebritɔwo 11 >
1 Azɔ la, xɔse nye kaka ɖe nu siwo míekpɔ mɔ na la dzi kple dziɖoɖo ɖe nu siwo míekpɔ o la ŋu.
Now faith is being sure of the things hoped for and certain of things that are not seen.
2 To xɔse mee ame siwo do ŋgɔ la kpɔ ɖaseɖiɖi nyui le Mawu gbɔ.
For because of this the ancestors were approved for their faith.
3 To xɔse me míese egɔme be Mawu ɖe gbe, eye xexea me va dzɔ, ale be wòwɔ nu si wokpɔna la tso nu si womekpɔna o la me. (aiōn )
By faith we understand that the universe was created by God's command, so that what is visible was not made out of things that were visible. (aiōn )
4 To xɔse me Abel tsɔ vɔsasa si nyo wu Kain tɔ la na Mawu. To xɔse me wokafui be enye ame dzɔdzɔe esi Mawu ƒo nu nyui tso eƒe vɔsa la ŋu. To xɔse me wògale nu ƒom ko, togbɔ be eku hã.
It was by faith that Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he was attested to be righteous, and God spoke well of him because of his offerings, and by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.
5 To xɔse me wokɔ Enɔk dzoe tso agbe sia me, ale be meɖɔ ku kpɔ o, ale womegakpɔe o, elabena Mawu kɔe dzoe. Elabena hafi woakɔe dzoe la, wogblɔ tso eŋu be Mawu kpɔ ŋudzedze le eya amea ŋuti.
It was by faith that Enoch was taken up so that he did not see death. “He was not found, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, it was testified that he had pleased God.
6 Xɔse manɔmee la ame aɖeke mate ŋu adze Mawu ŋu o, elabena ame si va Mawu gbɔ la ele be wòaxɔe se be Mawu li eye wòɖoa eteƒe na ame siwo dinɛ vevie.
Now without faith it is impossible to please him. For it is necessary that anyone coming to God must believe that he exists and that he is a rewarder of those who seek him.
7 To xɔse me esi woxlɔ̃ nu Noa tso nu siwo mekpɔ dzɔ haɖe o ŋuti la etsɔ vɔvɔ̃ kɔkɔe kpa aɖakaʋu be wòaɖe eya kple eƒe ƒomea. To eƒe xɔse me wòbu fɔ xexea me, eye wòzu dzɔdzɔenyenye si vana to xɔse me la ƒe domenyila.
It was by faith that Noah, having been given a divine message about things not yet seen, with godly reverence built a ship to save his household. By doing this, he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that is according to faith.
8 To xɔse me esi woyɔ Abraham be wòayi teƒe si wòava xɔ wòazu eƒe domenyinu la, eɖo to, eye wòyi, togbɔ be menya afi si yim wònɔ o hã.
It was by faith that Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went out to the place that he was to receive as an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he was going.
9 To xɔse me ewɔ nɔƒe ɖe ŋugbedodonyigba la dzi, eye wònɔ afi ma abe amedzro si le dzronyigba dzi la ene, elabena enɔ avɔgbadɔwo me. Nenema kee nye Isak kple Yakob ame siwo hã nye ŋugbedodo ma ke ƒe domenyilawo kplii.
It was by faith that he lived in the land of promise as a foreigner. He lived in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs of the same promise.
10 Elabena Abraham nɔ mɔ kpɔm na du si Mawu ŋutɔ nye egɔmeɖola, aɖaŋuwɔla kple etula.
For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
11 To xɔse me esi Abraham tsi xɔ ƒe geɖe hã la, ete ŋu dzi Vi. Nenema kee nye srɔ̃a Sara hã, ame si tsi ko tsã. To xɔse me Abraham zu fofo, elabena Mawu ame si do ŋugbe nɛ la, bui nuteƒewɔlae.
It was by faith, even though Sarah herself was barren, that Abraham received ability to father a child. This happened even though he was too old, since he considered as faithful the one who had given the promise.
12 Ale to ame ɖeka sia dzi, ame si ŋu míate ŋu agblɔ le be megale ŋutsu me o la, dzidzime geɖe siwo sɔ gbɔ abe ɣletiviwo le dziŋgɔli ŋu kple ƒutake ene la va dzɔ.
Therefore, from this one man—and he was almost dead—were born descendants as many as the stars in the sky and as countless as sand by the seashore.
13 Ame siawo katã va ku esime wogalé xɔse me ɖe asi ko. Womexɔ nu siwo ƒe ŋugbe wodo na wo la o, ɖeko wokpɔ wo, do dzaa na wo le adzɔge, eye woʋu eme be amedzrowo kple mɔzɔlawo yewonye le anyigba dzi le afii.
It was in faith that all these died without receiving the promises. Instead, after seeing and greeting them from far off, they admitted that they were foreigners and exiles on earth.
14 Ame siwo gblɔ nya siawo tɔgbi la ɖee fia be wole woawo ŋutɔ ƒe dedu dim.
For those who say such things make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.
15 Nenye be du si me wotso la ŋuti bum wonɔ la, anye ne mɔnukpɔkpɔ anɔ wo si be woatrɔ ayi.
If they had been thinking of the country from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return.
16 Le esia teƒe la, wole du si nyo wu esi nye dziƒotɔ la dim. Eya ta menye ŋukpe na Mawu be woayɔe be woƒe Mawu o, elabena edzra du nyui aɖe ɖo ɖi na wo.
But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, since he has prepared a city for them.
17 To xɔse me esi Mawu do Abraham kpɔ la, etsɔ via Isak be yeasa vɔe, eya ame si xɔ ŋugbedodoawo la nɔ klalo be yeatsɔ Via ŋutsuvi ɖeka hɔ̃ɔ la asa vɔe,
It was by faith that Abraham, when he was tested, offered Isaac. It was his only son whom he offered, he who had received the promises.
18 togbɔ be Mawu gblɔ nɛ be, “To Isak dzi la, dzidzimevi siwo katã ƒe ŋugbe wodo na wò la ava dzɔ” hã.
It was Abraham to whom it had been said, “It is through Isaac that your descendants will be named.”
19 Abraham dze sii be Mawu ate ŋu afɔ ame kukuwo ɖe tsitre, eye woate ŋu agblɔe ko be exɔ Isak tso ku me.
Abraham reasoned that God was able to raise up Isaac from the dead, and figuratively speaking, it was from them that he received him back.
20 To xɔse me Isak yra Yakob kple Esau, ku ɖe nu si woava nye le etsɔ me ŋuti.
It was also by faith about things to come that Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau.
21 To xɔse me Yakob yra Yosef viŋutsuwo le esime eƒe kuɣi ɖo, eye wòziɔ ɖe eƒe atitɔɖeŋu ŋuti hesubɔ Mawu.
It was by faith that Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph's sons. Jacob worshiped, leaning on the top of his staff.
22 To xɔse me esime Yosef ƒe kuɣi ɖo la, eƒo nu tso Israelviwo ƒe gododo le Egipte ŋuti, eye wògblɔ ɖoɖo tso eƒe ƒuwo ŋuti na wo.

It was by faith that Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents because they saw he was a beautiful child. They were not afraid of the king's command.
24 To xɔse me esi Mose va tsi la, egbe be womayɔ ye be Farao vinyɔnu ƒe viŋutsu o
It was by faith that Moses, after he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter.
25 ke boŋ elɔ̃ be yeakpe fu kple Mawu ƒe amewo wu be yease nu vɔ̃ ƒe vivi hena ɣeyiɣi kpui aɖe ko.
Instead, he chose to suffer with the people of God, rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a while.
26 Ebu vlododo le “Kristo” ta nu xɔasi wu kesinɔnu siwo katã nɔ Egipte, elabena enɔ mɔ kpɔm na eƒe fetu gã si nɔ ŋgɔgbe.
He reasoned that the disgrace of following Christ was greater riches than Egypt's treasures. For he was fixing his eyes on his reward.
27 To xɔse me Mose dzo le Egipte, eye mevɔ̃ na fia la ƒe dziku o, ke boŋ edo vevi nu, elabena ekpɔ eya ame si womekpɔna kple ŋku o.
It was by faith that Moses left Egypt. He did not fear the king's anger, for he endured as if he were seeing the one who is invisible.
28 To xɔse me Mose ɖo Ŋutitotoŋkekenyui kple ʋuhehlẽ ɖi anyi, ale be nugblẽla si wu ŋgɔgbeviwo la maka asi Israelviwo ƒe ŋgɔgbeviwo ŋu o.
It was by faith that he kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch the Israelites' firstborn sons.
29 To xɔse me Israelviwo tso Ƒu Dzĩ la abe anyigba ƒuƒui dzie wozɔ ene, gake esi Egiptetɔwo hã dze agbagba be yewoawɔ nenema la, wo katã tsi Ƒu Dzĩ la me.
It was by faith that they passed through the Sea of Reeds as if over dry land. When the Egyptians tried to do this, they were swallowed up.
30 To xɔse me Yeriko ƒe gliwo mu esi Israelviwo ƒo xlãe ŋkeke adre.
It was by faith that Jericho's walls fell down, after they had been circled around for seven days.
31 To xɔse me gbolo Rahab, esi wòxɔ ŋkutsalawo ta la, womewui kpe ɖe tosẽlawo ŋuti o.
It was by faith that Rahab the prostitute did not die with those who were disobedient, because she had received the spies in peace.
32 Ɖe wògahiã be mayi edzia? Ɣeyiɣi mele asinye be maƒo nu le Gideon, Barak, Samson, Yefta, David, Samuel kple Nyagblɔɖila bubuwo ŋuti o,
What more can I say? For the time will fail me if I tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and about the prophets.
33 ame siwo to xɔse me xɔ fiaɖuƒewo, ɖu dzi le dzɔdzɔenyenye me, eye woƒe asi su nu si ƒe ŋugbe wodo la dzi. Ame siawo de ga nu na dzatawo,
It was through faith that they conquered kingdoms, worked justice, and received promises. They stopped the mouths of lions,

Women received back their dead by resurrection. Others were tortured, not accepting release, so that they might experience a better resurrection.

Others had testing in mocking and whippings, and even chains and imprisonment.

They were stoned. They were sawn in two. They were killed with the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins. They were destitute, oppressed, mistreated.

God planned something better for us, so that without us, they would not be made perfect.
