< Hagai 1 >
1 Le Fia Darius ƒe dziɖuɖu ƒe ƒe evelia me le ɣleti adelia ƒe ŋkeke gbãtɔ dzi la, Yehowa ƒe gbe va to Hagai, nyagblɔɖila la dzi na Yudatɔwo ƒe anyigbadziɖulagã, Zerubabel, Sealtiel ƒe vi kple nunɔlagã Yosua, Yehozadak ƒe vi dzi.
In the second year of Darius the king, on the first day of the sixth month, this message from the Lord came through Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest:
2 Ale Yehowa, Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ la gblɔe nye esi: “Ame siawo le gbɔgblɔm be, ‘Ɣeyiɣi mede ne woagbugbɔ nye gbedoxɔ atu o.’”
The Lord of hosts says: The people say that the time has not yet come to rebuild the temple of the Lord.
3 Tete Yehowa ƒe gbe va to Nyagblɔɖila Hagai dzi be,
Then this message from the Lord came to Haggai the prophet:
4 “Ɖe ɣeyiɣi de be miawo ya mianɔ aƒe nyuiwo me esi nye gbedoxɔ ƒe glikpowo gale nenema koa?”
Is it a time for you yourselves to live in your own well-roofed houses, while this temple lies in ruins?
5 Azɔ la Yehowa, Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ la gblɔ be, “Mibu ta me nyuie tso miaƒe zɔzɔme ŋuti.
The Lord of hosts says: Consider your past experiences.
6 Mieƒãa nuku taŋtaŋ gake nuku ʋɛ aɖewo ko mieŋena. Mieɖua nu gake meɖia ƒo na mi o. Mienoa nu gake meɖia kɔ na mi o, mietaa avɔ gake medea dzo lãme na mi o. Miexɔa fetu ke ɖeko mietsɔnɛ dea kotoku ŋɔŋɔ me.”
You sow much, but bring in little; you eat, but you do not have enough; you drink, but are not filled; you clothe yourselves, but not enough to be warm; and those who earn wages, put those wages in a bag with holes.
7 Ale Yehowa, Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ la gblɔe nye esi, “Mibu ta me nyuie tso miaƒe zɔzɔme ŋu.
The Lord of hosts says: Consider your experiences.
8 Miyi ɖe towo dzi ne miatso atiwo vɛ ne miatsɔ agbugbɔ atu nye gbedoxɔe. Ekema makpɔ ŋudzedze le eŋuti wòade bubu ŋunye.” Yehowae gblɔe.
Go up to the mountains, and bring wood and rebuild the temple; then I will be pleased with it, and I will reveal my glory. The Lord says:
9 “Miele mɔ kpɔm na nu geɖe, ke nu ʋɛ aɖe ko miekpɔ, eye ne mietsɔe va aƒe mee la, meɖoa ƒuƒu ɖee, eye metɔna ɖe mia si o. Nu ka tae?” Yehowa Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ lae gblɔe. “Elabena nye gbedoxɔ ganye gli gbagbã li ko, ke mia dome ame sia ame le ʋiʋlim be miatso aƒe nyuiwo na mia ɖokuiwo.
You looked for much, and it came to little; and when you brought the harvest home, I blew it away. Why? The Lord of hosts says: Because my temple lies in ruins, while you shelter in your own houses.
10 Esia tae dziƒowo te zãmu mi eye anyigba gbe nukuwo nana mi ɖo.
The heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit,
11 Meɖe gbe be ku neɖi le agblewo kple towo dzi. Kuɖiɖi ana bli, wain yeye, ami kple miaƒe agblemenu bubuwo nagblẽ. Kuɖiɖi la nava amegbetɔwo, lãwo kple amegbetɔwo ƒe asinudɔwɔwɔ ɖe sia ɖe dzi.”
and I have called forth a drought upon the land and upon the mountains, and upon the grain and the new wine and the oil and upon that which the ground brings forth, and upon people and animals, and upon all the labor of your hands.
12 Tete Zerubabel, Sealtiel ƒe vi, Yosua, Yehozadak ƒe vi, nunɔlagã kple ame mamlɛawo katã ɖo to Nyagblɔɖila Hagai ƒe gbedeasi si wòxɔ tso Yehowa, woƒe Mawu la gbɔ elabena woxɔe se be Yehowa, woƒe Mawu lae dɔe eya ta ameawo vɔ̃ Yehowa eye wosubɔe.
Then Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high priest, with all the rest of the people, obeyed the command of the Lord their God and the words of Haggai the prophet, as the Lord their God had sent him to them. They showed proper respect for the Lord.
13 Le esia megbe la, Hagai, Yehowa ƒe ame dɔdɔ, tsɔ Yehowa ƒe gbedeasi sia na ameawo, “Meli kpli mi,” Yehowae gblɔe.
Haggai, the prophet of the Lord, as the Lord commanded him, told the people: ‘The Lord says: I am with you.’
14 Ale Yehowa de dzo Zerubabel, Sealtiel ƒe vi, ame si nye Yudatɔwo ƒe anyigbadziɖulagã kple Yosua, Yehozadak ƒe vi, nunɔlagã la kple ame mamlɛawo ƒe gbɔgbɔ me. Woƒo ƒu eye wodze Yehowa, Dziƒoʋakɔwo ƒe Aƒetɔ, woƒe Mawu la ƒe gbedoxɔ tutu gɔme
And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people, so that they came and worked on the temple of the Lord of hosts, their God,
