1 Ale Yakob gatso aƒe ɖe Kanaan, afi si fofoa nɔ la.
And he dwelt Jacob in [the] land of [the] sojournings of father his in [the] land of Canaan.
2 Esiae nye Yakob ƒe dzidzimeviwo ŋutinya. Fifia Yakob ƒe vi Yosef xɔ ƒe wuiadre. Eya kple fofoviawo, ame siwo nye fofoa srɔ̃wo Bilha kple Zilpa ƒe viwo ƒe dɔe nye be woakpɔ wo fofo ƒe lãwo dzi. Yosef gblɔa nu madzemadze siwo nɔviawo wɔna la na wo fofo.
These - [are] [the] accounts of Jacob Joseph [was] a son of seven-teen year[s] he was shepherding with brothers his the flock and he [was] a youth with [the] sons of Bilhah and with [the] sons of Zilpah [the] wives of father his and he brought Joseph report their bad to father their.
3 Israel lɔ̃ Yosef wu via bubuawo, elabena wodzi Yosef nɛ esime wònye amegãɖeɖi. Ale gbe ɖeka Yakob tɔ awu ʋlaya nyui aɖe nɛ.
And Israel he loved Joseph more than all sons his for [was] a son of old age he for him and he made for him a long garment of palms and soles.
4 Yosef nɔviwo de dzesi lɔlɔ̃ tɔxɛ si wo fofo tsɔ nɛ la, eya ta wolé fui, eye womeƒoa nu nɛ kple nɔvilɔlɔ̃ ƒe gbe o.
And they saw brothers his that him he loved father their more than all brothers his and they hated him and not they were able to speak to him to welfare.
5 Gbe ɖeka la, Yosef ku drɔ̃e, eye wòlĩi na nɔviawo. Nu sia gadzi nɔviawo ƒe fuléle ɖe edzi!
And he dreamed Joseph a dream and he told [it] to brothers his and they increased again to hate him.
6 Egblɔ be, “Miɖo to miase nye drɔ̃e la ɖa.
And he said to them hear please the dream this which I have dreamed.
7 Míeyi ɖanɔ mɔlu blam le gbedzi; tete nye mɔlu babla tsi tsitre, eye mia tɔwo katã va ƒo xlãe, eye wode ta agu nɛ.”
And there! we [were] binding sheaves in [the] middle of the field and there! it arose sheaf my and also it stood upright and there! they gathered round sheaves your and they bowed down to sheaf my.
8 Nɔviawo gblɔ nɛ fewuɖutɔe be, “Ekema ɖe nèdi be yeazu fia ɖe mía dzia?” Ale wogalé fui ɖe edzi wu le eƒe drɔ̃e la kple eƒe nyawo ta.
And they said to him brothers his ¿ really will you reign over us or? certainly will you rule over us and they increased again to hate him on dreams his and on words his.
9 Yosef gaku drɔ̃e bubu, eye wògalĩi na nɔviawo be, “Mise nye drɔ̃e si megaku la ɖa. Ɣe, ɣleti kple ɣletivi wuiɖekɛ de ta agu nam!”
And he dreamed again a dream another and he recounted it to brothers his and he said here! I have dreamed a dream again and there! the sun and the moon and one [plus] ten stars [were] bowing down to me.
10 Azɔ ya la, elĩ drɔ̃e la na fofoa kple nɔviawo siaa, ke fofoa ka mo nɛ hebiae be, “Drɔ̃e ka tɔgbie nye esia? Ɖe nye kple dawò kple nɔviwòwo míava de ta agu na wò gbe ɖekaa?”
And he recounted [it] to father his and to brothers his and he rebuked him father his and he said to him what? [is] the dream this which you have dreamed ¿ really will we come I and mother your and brothers your to bow down to you [the] ground towards.
11 Nɔviawo ʋã ŋui ɖe edzi wu, gake fofoa ya de ŋugble le nya la ŋuti.
And they were jealous of him brothers his and father his he kept the matter.
12 Gbe ɖaka la, Yosef nɔviwo kplɔ wo fofo ƒe alẽwo yi gbedzi le Sekem.
And they went brothers his to pasture [the] flock of father their at Shechem.
13 Israel gblɔ na Yosef be, “Abe ale si nènyae ene la, nɔviwòwo le alẽawo dzi kpɔm le teƒe si te ɖe Sekem ŋu. Va madɔ wò ɖe nɔviwòwo gbɔ.” Yosef ɖo eŋu be, “Enyo.”
And he said Israel to Joseph ¿ not [are] brothers your pasturing at Shechem come! and I will send you to them and he said to him here [am] I.
14 Ale wògblɔ nɛ be, “Yi nàkpɔe ɖa be nu sia nu le edzi yim nyuie na nɔviwòwo kple woƒe lãwo hã, eye nàva gblɔe nam.” Ale wòɖoe ɖa le Hebron ƒe Balime. Esime Yosef ɖo Sekem la,
And he said to him go please see [the] welfare of brothers your and [the] welfare of the flock and bring to me word and he sent him from [the] valley of Hebron and he came Shechem towards.
15 ŋutsu aɖe kpɔe le gbea dzi, eye wòbiae be, “Ame ka dim nèle?”
And he found him a man and there! [he was] wandering in the open country and he asked him the man saying what? are you seeking.
16 Yosef ɖo eŋu be, “Nɔvinyewo kple woƒe alẽwo dim mele; èkpɔ wo nama?”
And he said brothers my I [am] seeking tell! please to me where? [are] they pasturing.
17 Ŋutsu la ɖo eŋu be, “Ɛ̃, womegale afi sia o; mese nɔviwòwo nɔ gbɔgblɔm be yewoayi Dotan.” Ale Yosef dze wo yome yi Dotan, eye wòkpɔ wo le afi ma.
And he said the man they have departed from here for I heard [them] saying let us go Dothan towards and he went Joseph after brothers his and he found them at Dothan.
18 Ke esi wògbɔna la, wodze sii tso adzɔge ke, eye woɖo be yewoawui!
And they saw him from a distance and just before he drew near to them and they dealt deceptively with him to kill him.
19 Wogblɔ na wo nɔewo be, “Drɔ̃ekula ma gbɔna ɖaa!
And they said each to brother his there! [the] master of dreams this [is] coming.
20 Mina míawui atsɔ eƒe ŋutilã aƒu gbe ɖe vudo siawo dometɔ ɖeka me, eye míagblɔ be lã wɔadã aɖee vuvui. Ekema míakpɔ nu si ado tso eƒe drɔ̃ekuku la me ɖa.”
And now - come and let us kill him and let us throw him in one of the pits and we will say an animal wild it has eaten him and we may see what? will be dreams his.
21 Esi Ruben se nya sia la, edze agbagba be yeaɖee tso woƒe asi me. Egblɔ be, “Migana míawui o.
And he heard Reuben and he rescued him from hand their and he said not let us strike him life.
22 Migakɔ ʋu aɖeke ɖi o. Midae ɖe vudo sia me le gbegbe la, gake migade asi eŋu o.” Ruben gblɔ nya sia be yeaɖee tso woƒe asi me, eye yeakplɔe ayi na fofoa.
And he said to them - Reuben may not you shed blood throw him into the pit this which [is] in the wilderness and a hand may not you stretch out on him so as to rescue him from hand their to restore him to father his.
23 Eya ta esi Yosef ɖo nɔviawo gbɔ la, woɖe eƒe awu ʋlaya la le eŋu,
And it was just when he came Joseph to brothers his and they stripped Joseph long garment his [the] long garment of the palms and soles which [was] on him.
24 eye wolée da ɖe vudo aɖe si me tsi menɔ o la me.
And they took him and they threw him the pit towards and the pit [was] empty there not in it [was] water.
25 Wonɔ anyi, ɖu nu; kasia wokpɔ kposɔ aɖewo le didiƒe gbɔna wo gbɔ. Wonye Ismaeletɔ asitsala siwo tso Gilead la, eye wotsɔ aŋe, lifi kple kotoklobo yina ɖe Egipte.
And they sat down to eat bread and they lifted up eyes their and they saw and there! a caravan of Ishmaelites [was] coming from Gilead and camels their [were] carrying spice and balm and myrrh traveling to take [them] down Egypt towards.
26 Yuda gblɔ na nɔviawo be, “Viɖe ka míakpɔ ne míewu mía nɔvi, eye míetsyɔ nu eƒe ʋu dzi?
And he said Judah to brothers his what? [is the] profit if we will kill brother our and we will conceal blood his.
27 “Mina míadzrae na Ismaeletɔwo, eye míade asi eŋu o, elabena mía nɔviŋutsue; míawo ŋutɔ míaƒe ŋutilã kple ʋue.” Nɔviawo lɔ̃ ɖe edzi.
Come and let us sell him to the Ishmaelites and hand our may not it be on him for [is] brother our flesh our he and they listened brothers his.
28 Ale esi Midiansitsalawo va ɖo wo gbɔ la, woɖe Yosef le vudo la me, dzrae na Ismaeletɔwo klosalo blaeve, eye wokplɔe yi Egipte.
And they passed by men Midianite[s] traders and they drew and they brought up Joseph from the pit and they sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty silver and they brought Joseph Egypt towards.
29 Ruben menɔ anyi hafi nɔviawo dzra Yosef o. Emegbe esi wòtrɔ gbɔ la, eyi be yeaɖe Yosef le vudo la me, ke esi wòkpɔ be Yosef megale vudoa me o la, evee ŋutɔ, eye wòdze eƒe awuwo.
And he returned Reuben to the pit and there! not Joseph [was] in the pit and he tore clothes his.
30 Efa avi hegblɔ na nɔviawo be, “Ɖevi la megale vudo la me o; ke afi ka nye ya mayi fifia?”
And he returned to brothers his and he said the boy not [is] he and I where? [am] I going.
31 Nɔviawo wu gbɔ̃ aɖe, eye wotsɔ Yosef ƒe awuwo bliba ɖe gbɔ̃ la ƒe ʋu me.
And they took [the] long garment of Joseph and they slaughtered a male goat of goats and they dipped the long garment in the blood.
32 Wotsɔ awu la yi na wo fofo be wòakpɔ ɖa be ame ka tɔe mahã. Wogblɔ nɛ be, “Míekpɔ awu sia le gbedzi. Yosef tɔe loo alo menye etɔe oa?”
And they sent [the] long garment of the palms and soles and they brought [it] to father their and they said this we have found investigate please ¿ [the] long garment of son your [is] it or? not.
33 Wo fofo kpɔe dze sii enumake. Efa avi gblɔ be, “Ɛ̃, vinye ƒe awue. Lã wɔadã aɖee lée; eme kɔ ƒãa be lã wɔadã aɖe vuvu Yosef.”
And he recognized it and he said [it is] [the] long garment of son my an animal wild it has eaten him certainly he has been torn to pieces Joseph.
34 Israel dze eƒe awuwo, ta akpanya, eye wòfa konyi le via ƒe ku ta kɔsiɖa geɖewo.
And he tore Jacob clothes his and he put sackcloth on loins his and he mourned on son his days many.
35 Ƒometɔwo katã dze agbagba be yewoafa akɔ nɛ do kpoe. Egblɔna be, “Medi be maku le vinye la fafa me,” eye wògawoa avi hehehe! (Sheol h7585)
And they arose all sons his and all daughters his to comfort him and he refused to be comforted and he said that I will go down to son my mourning Sheol towards and he wept for him father his. (Sheol h7585)
36 Midiantɔwo kplɔ Yosef yi Egipte, eye wodzrae na Potifar, ame si nye Egipte fia, Farao ƒe aƒedzikpɔla kple eŋudzɔsrafowo ƒe amegã.
(And the Medanites *L(E)*) they sold him into Egypt to Potiphar an official of Pharaoh [the] commander of the bodyguards.
