1 Yakob kpɔ Esau le adzɔge ʋĩi wògbɔna kple eƒe ame alafa ene. Ke ema ɖeviawo na Lea, Rahel kple kosi eveawo.
And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold, Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto Rachel, and unto the two handmaids.
2 Ena eƒe kosiwo kple wo viwo nɔ ŋgɔ, Lea kple viawo nɔ eyome, eye Rahel kple Yosef nɔ wo katã megbe.
And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
3 Yakob dze wo katã ŋgɔ. Egogo foa, eye wòde ta agu nɛ zi adre.
And he himself passed on before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother.
4 Esau ƒu du yi ɖakpee, kpla asi kɔ nɛ lɔlɔ̃tɔe, eye wògbugbɔ nu nɛ. Wo ame eveawo fa avi hehehe!
And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him; and they wept.
5 Esau kpɔ nyɔnuawo kple ɖeviawo, eye wòbia be, “Ame kawoe nye esiawo le ŋuwò?” Yakob ɖo eŋu be, “Vinyewoe, Mawue na ɖevi siawo nye wò subɔla to eƒe amenuveve me.”
And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children; and said, Who are these with thee? And he said, The children whom God hath graciously given thy servant.
6 Kosiawo kple wo viwo va ŋgɔ, eye wode ta agu nɛ.
Then came the handmaids near, they and their children, and they bowed themselves.
7 Emegbe Lea kple etɔwo va, eye woawo hã de ta agu nɛ. Azɔ Rahel kple Yosef va, eye woawo hã de ta agu nɛ.
And Leah also with her children came near, and they bowed themselves; and after that came Joseph near and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8 Esau bia be, “Lãha kawoe nye esiwo kpɔm mele?” Yakob ɖo eŋu be, “Woawoe nye nye nunanawo na wò nye aƒetɔ be nàve nunye.”
And he said, What meanest thou by all this drove which I have met? And he said, To find grace in the eyes of my lord.
9 Esau ko nu gblɔ be, “Nɔvinye, lãwo sɔ gbɔ ɖe asinye xoxo; tɔwòwo nenɔ asiwò ko!”
And Esau said, I have enough, my brother, keep unto thyself what thou hast.
10 Yakob yi edzi be, “Ao, xɔ nunanawo nam ko, elabena wò alɔgbɔnu si nèko xɔlɔ̃tɔe nam la na nya la kɔ le dzinye! Vɔvɔ̃ ɖom le ŋutiwò abe Mawu ƒe ŋkumee mekpɔ ene.
And Jacob said, This must not be, I pray thee; if I have but found grace in thy eyes, then do thou receive my present at my hand; since I have seen thy face, it is as though I had seen the face of an angel, and because thou hast received me kindly.
11 Meɖe kuku, xɔ nye nunanawo ko, elabena Mawu yram, eye nu geɖe le asinye.” Yakob ƒoe ɖe enu, eye Esau lɔ̃ xɔ nunanawo.
Take, I pray thee, my present that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have a plenty of all. And he urged him, and he took it.
12 Esau gblɔ be, “Enyo, mina míadze mɔ. Nye kple nye amewo, míanɔ mia ŋu, eye míadze ŋgɔ na mi.”
And he said, Let us depart, and move farther, and I will travel near thee.
13 Ke Yakob ɖo eŋu be, “Nye aƒetɔ, ɖeviawo dometɔ aɖewo metsi o, eye nenema ke vidzĩwo le lãwo dome. Ne míedo du wo akpa la, woaku,
And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are a charge on me: and if they should overdrive them one day, all the flock would die.
14 eya ta nye aƒetɔ, miawo mido ŋgɔ, eye míawo míadze mia yome ɖɔɖɔɖɔ ava tu mi le Seir.”
Let my lord, I pray thee, pass on before his servant: and I will lead on slowly, according to the cattle that goeth before me and the children may be able to travel, until I come unto my lord unto Seir.
15 Esau gblɔ be, “Enyo, mana nye ame aɖewo nakpe ɖe mia ŋu, eye woanye kplɔlawo na mi.” Yakob gbe be, “Ao, nye aƒetɔ, míanɔ edzi ɖɔɖɔɖɔ ava tu mi. Meɖe kuku, na wòanɔ abe ale si megblɔ ene.”
And Esau said, Let me, I pray thee, leave with thee some of the people that are with me. And he said, What needeth it? let me only final grace in the eyes of my lord.
16 Ale Esau trɔ ɖo ta Seir gbe ma gbe ke.
So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir.
17 Yakob kple eƒe amewo yi ɖaɖo Sukɔt. Etu agbletaxɔ kple lãkpowo ɖe afi ma, eya ta woyɔa teƒe ma be Sukot si gɔmee nye “Agbletaxɔwo.”
And Jacob journeyed to Succoth and built himself a house, and for his cattle he made booths; therefore he called the name of the place Succoth.
18 Emegbe la, Yakob tso Padan Aram va ɖo Sekem le Kanaanyigba dzi dedie, eye wònɔ du la godo.
And Jacob came in good health to the city of Shechem, which is in the land of Canaan, when he came from Padan-aram; and he encamped before the city.
19 Eƒle anyigba si dzi wònɔ la le Sekem fofo, Hamor ƒe ƒometɔwo si klosalo alafa ɖeka.
And he bought the parcel of the field, where he had spread his tent, at the hand of the children of Chamor, the father of Shechem, for a hundred kessitah.
20 Etu vɔsamlekpui aɖe ɖe afi ma, eye wòna ŋkɔe be, “El-Elohe-Israel” si gɔmee nye “Vɔsamlekpui na Israel ƒe Mawu.”
And he erected there an altar, and called it, El-Elohe-Yisrael.
