Zerahiah, Uzzi, Bukki,
5 Abisua ƒe vi, Finehas ƒe vi, Eleaza ƒe vi kple nunɔlagã Aron ƒe vi.
Abishua, Phinehas, Eleazar, who was son of Aaron the high priest.
6 Ezra sia tso Babilonia va. Enye sefiala si bi ɖe Mose ƒe Se, si Yehowa, Israel ƒe Mawu la de la me. Fia la na nu sia nu si wòbiae, elabena Yehowa, eƒe Mawu la ƒe asi nɔ eya amea dzi.
Ezra came up from Babylon and he was a skilled scribe in the law of Moses that Yahweh, the God of Israel, had given. The king gave him anything he asked since the hand of Yahweh was with him.
7 Israelviwo dometɔ aɖewo, siwo dome nunɔlawo, Levitɔwo, hadzilawo, agbonudzɔlawo kple gbedoxɔmesubɔla aɖewo nɔ la va Yerusalem le Fia Artazerses ƒe fiaɖuɖu ƒe ƒe adrelia me.
Some of the descendants of Israel and the priests, Levites, temple singers, gatekeepers, and those assigned to serve in the temple also went up to Jerusalem in the seventh year of King Artaxerxes.
8 Ezra va ɖo Yerusalem le dzinu atɔ̃lia me le fia la ƒe fiaɖuɖu ƒe ƒe adrelia me.
He arrived in Jerusalem in the fifth month of the same year.

He left Babylon on the first day of the first month. It was on the first day of the fifth month that he arrived in Jerusalem, since the good hand of God was with him.
10 Ezra tsɔ eɖokui na Yehowa ƒe Se la sɔsrɔ̃ kple emeléle ɖe asi eye nenema kee wòtsɔ eɖokui na eƒe sededewo kple ɖoɖowo fiafia le Israel.
Ezra had established his heart to study, carry out, and teach the statutes and decrees of the law of Yahweh.
11 Esiae nye agbalẽ si Fia Artazerses ŋlɔ tsɔ na Ezra, nunɔla kple Sefiala, ŋutsu si bi ɖe Yehowa ƒe sededewo kple ɖoɖo siwo wòwɔ na Israel la me:
This was the decree that King Artaxerxes gave Ezra the priest and scribe of Yahweh's commandments and statutes for Israel:
12 Tso: Artazerses, fiawo dzi fia gbɔ, Na: Nunɔla Ezra, Dziƒo Mawu la ƒe Sefiala: Medo gbe na wò.
“The King of kings Artaxerxes, to the priest Ezra, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven:
13 Azɔ la, mele se dem be, ne Israelvi aɖe si le nye fiaɖuƒe me kple nunɔla alo Levitɔ siwo di be yewoayi Yerusalem kpli wò la, woayi faa.
I am ordering that anyone from Israel in my kingdom along with their priests and Levites who desires to go to Jerusalem, may go with you.
14 Fia la kple eƒe aɖaŋuɖola adreawoe le dɔwòm be nàyi Yuda kple Yerusalem aɖabia gbe wo tso ale si wolé wò Mawu ƒe Se si le asiwò me la me ɖe asii.
I, the king, and my seven counselors, send you all out to inquire concerning Judah and Jerusalem according to God's law, which is in your hand.
15 Gawu la, tsɔ klosalo kple sika siwo fia la kple eƒe aɖaŋuɖolawo na Israel ƒe Mawu la faa la, Mawu si ƒe nɔƒe nye Yerusalem la ɖe asi.
You are to bring the silver and gold that they have freely offered to the God of Israel, whose dwelling is in Jerusalem.
16 Kpe ɖe klosalo kple sika siwo katã nàkpɔ tso Babilonia nuto la me ŋu, nenema kee nye ameawo kple nunɔlawo ƒe lɔlɔ̃nununanawo na woƒe Mawu ƒe gbedoxɔ le Yerusalem.
Freely give all the silver and gold that all of Babylon has given along with what is freely offered by the people and the priests for the house of God in Jerusalem.
17 Kpɔ egbɔ be yetsɔ ga sia ƒle nyitsuwo, agbowo kple alẽviwo kpe ɖe wo ŋuti nuɖuvɔsawo kple nunovɔsawo ŋu, eye nàtsɔ wo asa vɔe le wò Mawu ƒe vɔsamlekpui dzi le gbedoxɔ la me le Yerusalem.
So buy in full the oxen, rams and lambs, and grain and drink offerings. Offer them on the altar that is in the house of your God in Jerusalem.
18 Emegbe la, wò kple nɔviwò Yudatɔwo miate ŋu awɔ klosalo kple sika si susɔ la ŋu dɔ ale si dze mia ŋu le miaƒe Mawu la ƒe lɔlɔ̃nu me.
Do with the rest of the silver and gold whatever seems good to you and your brothers, to please your God.
19 Tsɔ nu siwo katã wode asi na wò hena Yerusalem ƒe Mawu la hena eƒe subɔsubɔ le wò Mawu la ƒe gbedoxɔ la me.
Place the objects that were freely given to you before him for the service of the house of your God in Jerusalem.
20 Nu bubu aɖe si hiã na wò Mawu la ƒe gbedoxɔ, si nèdi be yeaƒle la, tsɔe le fia la ƒe nudzraɖoƒe faa.
Anything else that is needed for the house of your God that you require, take its cost from my treasury.

I, King Artaxerxes, make a decree to all the treasurers in the Province Beyond the River, that anything that Ezra asks from you should be given in full,
22 va se ɖe klosalo “tɔn” etɔ̃ kple afã, lu agba blaeve-vɔ-eve, wain adzafi eve kple afã, amitimi atukpa eve kple afã kple dze agbɔsɔsɔ si sinu wòdi la dzi.
up to one hundred silver talents, one hundred cors of grain, one hundred baths of wine, and one hundred baths of oil, also salt without limit.
23 Nu sia nu si Dziƒo Mawu la gblɔ da ɖi ko la, wonewɔe kple dzo na Dziƒo Mawu la ƒe gbedoxɔ. Nu ka ŋuti dziku anɔ fia la ƒe fiaɖuƒe kple via ŋutsuwo dzi?
Anything that comes from the decree of the God of Heaven, do it with devotion for his house. For why should his wrath come upon the kingdom of me and my sons?
24 Minyae hã be miekpɔ mɔ aɖo nudzɔdzɔ, adzɔ kple mɔtaho nunɔlawo, Levitɔwo, hadzilawo, agbonudzɔlawo, gbedoxɔŋudzɔlawo alo dɔ bubu aɖe wɔla si le Mawu ƒe aƒe sia me la dzi o.
We are informing them about you not to impose any tribute or taxes on any of the priests, Levites, musicians, gatekeepers, or on the people assigned to the service of the temple and servants of the house of this God.
25 Ke wò, Ezra, le wò Mawu ƒe nunya si wòna wò nu la, tia nyadrɔ̃lawo kple ʋɔnudrɔ̃lawo, ame siwo nya wò Mawu la ƒe Sewo nyuie, ne woakpɔ ʋɔnudrɔ̃nyawo gbɔ na ame siwo le Frat tɔsisi la godo. Ke fia se la ame siwo menya Seawo nyuie o.
Ezra, with the wisdom that God has given you, you must appoint judges and magistrates to judge all the people in the Province Beyond the River, and to serve all who know the laws of your God. You must also teach those who do not know the law.

Punish anyone who does not fully obey God's law or the king's law, whether by death, banishment, confiscation of their goods, or imprisonment.
27 Woakafu Yehowa, mía fofowo ƒe Mawu la, ame si tsɔe de fia la ƒe dzi me be wòade bubu Yehowa ƒe aƒe la ŋu le Yerusalem alea,
Praise Yahweh, our ancestors' God, who placed all this into the king's heart to glorify Yahweh's house in Jerusalem,
28 ame si trɔ eƒe amenuveve kɔ ɖe dzinye le fia la kple eƒe aɖaŋuɖolawo kple fia la ƒe dɔnunɔla ŋusẽtɔ mawo ƒe ŋkume. Esi Yehowa, nye Mawu la ƒe asi nɔ dzinye ta la, dzi ɖo ƒonye, eye meƒo ame ŋkuta siwo tso Israel la nu ƒu be woayi kplim.
and who extended covenant faithfulness to me before the king, his counselors, and all his powerful officials. I have been strengthened by the hand of Yahweh my God, and I gathered leaders from Israel to go with me.
