< Hezekiel 14 >
1 Israel ƒe ametsitsi aɖewo va gbɔnye, eye wonɔ anyi ɖe nye ŋkume.
Then came there unto me certain men of the elders of Israel, and sat down before me.
2 Tete Yehowa ƒe nya va nam be,
And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
3 “Ame vi, ame siawo li legbawo ɖe woƒe dzi me, eye woɖi afɔklinu vɔ̃ɖiwo ɖe woƒe ŋkume. Ɖe mana woabia gbem mahã?
Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and the stumbling-block of their iniquity have they placed before their faces: shall I in any wise let myself be inquired of by them?
4 Eya ta gblɔ na wo be, ‘Ale Aƒetɔ Yehowa gblɔe nye esi: Ne Israelvi aɖe li legbawo ɖe eƒe dzi me, tsɔ afɔklinu vɔ̃ɖi da ɖe eƒe ŋkume, eye wòyi nyagblɔɖila aɖe gbɔ la, nye, Yehowa, ŋutɔ maɖo nya la ŋu nɛ le eya ŋutɔ ƒe legbawo ƒe agbɔsɔsɔ nu.
Therefore speak with them and say unto them, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Whatever man it be of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and layeth the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet: I the Lord will answer him, although he cometh with the multitude of his idols;
5 Mawɔ alea ale be magbugbɔ Israel ƒe ame siwo katã gblẽm ɖi le woƒe legbawo ta la ƒe dziwo axɔ.’
In order that I may grasp the house of Israel by their heart, those who are separated from me through all their idols.
6 “Eya ta gblɔ na Israel ƒe aƒe la be, ‘Ale Aƒetɔ Yehowa gblɔe nye esi; mitrɔ dzi me! Miɖe asi le miaƒe legbawo ŋu, eye miagbe nu le miaƒe nu vɔ̃ɖiwo wɔwɔ gbɔ!’
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Return, and cause [your heart] to turn away from your idols: and from all your abominations turn away your faces.
7 “‘Ne Israelvi alo amedzro aɖe si le Israel gbe nu le gbɔnye, eye wòɖo legbawo ɖe eƒe dzi me hetsɔ afɔklinu vɔ̃ɖi aɖe ɖo eƒe ŋkume hafi yi nyagblɔɖila aɖe gbɔ be yeabia nyae tso ŋunye la, nye Yehowa ŋutɔ, maɖo nya la ŋu nɛ.
For whatever man it be of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, that separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and layeth the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and then cometh to the prophet to inquire through him of me: I the Lord will answer him through my word;
8 Matɔ ŋku ame ma, mawɔe wòanye kpɔɖeŋu kple nyatoto, eye maɖee ɖa le nye amewo dome. Ekema mianyae be, nyee nye Yehowa.’
And I will set my face against that man, and will make him an astonishment for a sign and for proverbs, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
And when the prophet suffereth himself to be deceived, and he speaketh a word: I the Lord have suffered that prophet to be deceived: and I will stretch out my hand against him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
10 Ame sia ame atsɔ eƒe vodada, nyagblɔɖila la kple ame siwo bia gbee siaa, woanye vodalawo.
And they shall bear their guilt: as the guilt of the inquirer is, so shall the guilt of the prophet be;
11 Ekema Israelviwo magatra mɔ tso gbɔnye o, eye womagagblẽ kɔ ɖo na wo ɖokuiwo kple woƒe nu vɔ̃wo katã o. Woanye nye amewo eye nye hã manye woƒe Mawu. Aƒetɔ Yehowae gblɔe.’”
In order that the house of Israel may go no more astray by not following me, and not pollute themselves any more with all their transgressions; but that they may become unto me a people, and I may be unto them a God, saith the Lord Eternal.
12 Yehowa ƒe nya va nam be,
And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
13 “Ame vi, ne dukɔ aɖe wɔ nu vɔ̃ ɖe ŋutinye, eye meto nyateƒe nam o la, makɔ nye asi dzi ɖe eŋu be maɖo asi eƒe nuɖuɖukpɔtsoƒe dzi; ekema dɔwuame ava edzi, eye mawu eƒe amewo kple eƒe lãwo,
Son of man, if a land should sin against me by trespassing grievously, and I stretch out my hand against it, and break unto it the staff of bread, and send out famine against it, and cut off from it man and beast;
14 nenye be ame etɔ̃ siawo, Noa, Daniel kple Hiob gɔ̃ hã anɔ wo dome. Woatsɔ woƒe dzɔdzɔenyenye aɖe woawo ŋutɔ ɖeɖe ko. Aƒetɔ Yehowae gblɔe.
And if there be these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, in the midst of it: these through their righteousness should save but their own soul; saith the Lord Eternal.
15 “Alo ne meɖo lã wɔadãwo ɖa be woato anyigba ma dzi, eye wowu wo viwo katã, eye anyigba la zu gbegbe, ale be ame aɖeke magate ŋu ato edzi ayi o le lã wɔadãawo ta la,
If I cause wild beasts to pass through the land, and they depopulate it, and it becometh desolate, without any one to pass through because of the beasts:
16 Aƒetɔ Yehowa be yeta yeƒe agbe be ne ame etɔ̃ siawo anɔ wo dome gɔ̃ hã la, womate ŋu aɖe wo viŋutsuwo alo wo vinyɔnuwo o. Woawo ɖeɖe koe akpɔ ɖeɖe, ke anyigba la ya azu gbegbe.
These three men [if they were] in it, as I live, saith the Lord Eternal, should not save either sons or daughters: they only should be saved, but the land should be made desolate.
17 “Alo ne meɖo yi ɖe anyigba ma dzi hegblɔ be, ‘Yi la nato anyigba la dzi,’ eye mewu eƒe amewo kple woƒe lãwo la,
Or, if I should bring a sword over that land, and say, The sword shall pass through the land, and I cut off from it man and beast;
18 Aƒetɔ Yehowa gblɔ be, yeta ye ŋutɔ ƒe agbe be, ne ame etɔ̃ siawo nɔ anyigba la dzi gɔ̃ hã la, womate ŋu aɖe wo viŋutsuwo alo wo vinyɔnuwo o. Woawo ŋutɔ ko woaɖe.
And if these three men should be in it: as I live, saith the Lord Eternal, they should not save either sons or daughters, but they alone should be saved.
19 “Alo ne meɖo dɔvɔ̃ ɖe anyigba ma dzi, eye meɖe nye dziku helĩhelĩ ɖe edzi to ʋukɔkɔɖi me hewu eƒe amewo kple woƒe lãwo la,
Or, if I should send out the pestilence against that land, and pour out my fury over it in blood, to cut off from it man and beast;
20 Aƒetɔ Yehowa gblɔ be, yeta ye ŋutɔ yeƒe agbe be, ne Noa, Daniel kple Hiob anɔ anyigba la dzi gɔ̃ hã la, womate ŋu aɖe wo viŋutsuwo alo wo vinyɔnuwo o. Woawo ŋutɔ ɖokui ko woate ŋu aɖe kple woƒe dzɔdzɔenyenye.
And if Noah, Daniel, and Job, should be in the midst of it: as I live, saith the Lord Eternal, they should not save either son or daughter; they through their righteousness should save their own soul.
21 “Elabena ale Aƒetɔ Yehowa gblɔe nye si, ‘Aleke gbegbe wòagasẽ wu ne medɔ nye ʋɔnudɔdrɔ̃ dziŋɔ ene siawo, yi, dɔwuame, lã wɔadãwo kple dɔvɔ̃ ɖa ɖe Yerusalem ŋu be woawu eƒe amewo kple eƒe lãwo siaa!
For thus hath said the Lord Eternal, Although I send my four dreadful means of punishment over Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the wild beasts, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast:
22 Ke agbetsila aɖewo anɔ anyi anye viŋutsu kple vinyɔnu siwo woaɖe tso eme. Woaʋu le mia gbɔ, eye ne mekpɔ woƒe zɔzɔme kple nuwɔnawo la, miaƒe akɔ afa le dzɔgbevɔ̃e ɖe sia ɖe si mehe va Yerusalem dzi la ta.
Still, behold, there are left therein some that escape who shall be carried forth, both sons and daughters; behold, they are coming forth unto you, and ye will see their way and their doings; and then will ye be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, yea, concerning all that I have brought upon it;
23 Woafa akɔ na mi ne miekpɔ woƒe zɔzɔme kple woƒe nuwɔnawo, elabena mianya be nyemewɔ naneke dzodzro o.’ Aƒetɔ Yehowae gblɔe.”
And they will comfort you, when ye see their way and their doings; and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have executed in it, saith the Lord Eternal.
