< Hezekiel 1 >

1 Le ƒe blaetɔ̃lia ƒe ɣleti enelia me, le ŋkeke atɔ̃lia gbe, esi menɔ aboyomenɔlawo dome le Kebar Tɔsisi la to la, dziƒowo nu ʋu, eye mekpɔ ŋutega tso Mawu ŋu.
In the thirtieth year, on the fifth day of the fourth month, while I was among the exiles by the River Kebar, the heavens opened and I saw visions of God.
On the fifth day of the month—it was the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoiachin—
the word of the LORD came directly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the River Kebar. And there the LORD’s hand was upon him.
I looked and saw a whirlwind coming from the north, a great cloud with fire flashing back and forth and brilliant light all around it. In the center of the fire was a gleam like amber,
5 eye nu siwo le dzo la me la le abe nu gbagbewo ene. Woƒe dzedzeme le abe amegbetɔ tɔ ene,
and within it was the form of four living creatures. And this was their appearance: They had a human form,
6 ke mo ene kple aʋala ene nɔ ɖe sia ɖe si.
but each had four faces and four wings.
7 Woƒe afɔwo dzɔ; woƒe afɔwo le abe nyivi tɔwo ene, eye wole dzo dam abe ayawagba si ŋu woƒã la ene.
Their legs were straight, and the soles of their feet were like the hooves of a calf, gleaming like polished bronze.
8 Amegbetɔ ƒe asi nɔ woƒe aʋalawo te le woƒe axa eneawo dzi. Wo ame eneawo katã to mowo kple aʋalawo,
Under their wings on their four sides they had human hands. All four living creatures had faces and wings,
9 eye woƒe aʋalawo ka wo nɔewo ŋuti. Wo dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe yia ŋgɔ tẽe; wometrɔa kɔ ne wole yiyim o.
and their wings were touching one another. They did not turn as they moved; each one went straight ahead.
10 Woƒe mowo dzena ale: amegbetɔ ƒe mo li na wo ame eneawo dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe; dzata ƒe mo le ɖusime, nyitsu ƒe mo le miame, eye hɔ̃ ƒe mo li na ɖe sia ɖe.
The form of their faces was that of a man, and each of the four had the face of a lion on the right side, the face of an ox on the left side, and also the face of an eagle.
11 Nenemae woƒe mowo le. Woke woƒe aʋalawo me do ɖe dzi. Ɖe sia ɖe ƒe aʋala eve tɔ wo nɔviwo tɔwo le akpa eveawo dzi, eye ɖe sia ɖe tsyɔ aʋala eve.
Such were their faces. Their wings were spread upward; each had two wings touching the wings of the creature on either side, and two wings covering its body.
12 Wo dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe yia ŋgɔ tẽe. Woyia afi sia afi si gbɔgbɔ la yina la, eye wometrɔna yia teƒe bubu aɖeke o.
Each creature went straight ahead. Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, without turning as they moved.
13 Nu gbagbeawo ƒe dzedzeme nɔ abe dzoka xɔxɔ alo akakati bibi ene.
In the midst of the living creatures was the appearance of glowing coals of fire, or of torches. Fire moved back and forth between the living creatures; it was bright, and lightning flashed out of it.
14 Nu gbagbeawo nɔa du dzi, yia megbe, yia ŋgɔgbe abe dzikedzo ene.
The creatures were darting back and forth as quickly as flashes of lightning.
When I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel on the ground beside each creature with its four faces.
16 Tasiaɖam ƒe afɔawo ƒe dzedzeme kple ale si wowɔ woe la le ale: woklẽna abe adzagba ene, eye wo ame eneawo katã ɖi wo nɔewo. Ɖe sia ɖe dze abe ɖe wowɔe be wòade nu nɔvia me ene.
The workmanship of the wheels looked like the gleam of beryl, and all four had the same likeness. Their workmanship looked like a wheel within a wheel.
As they moved, they went in any of the four directions, without pivoting as they moved.
18 Tasiaɖam ƒe afɔawo dzi ŋɔ, eye ŋkuwo le afɔ eneawo katã ŋu kpe ɖo.
Their rims were high and awesome, and all four rims were full of eyes all around.
19 Ne nu gbagbeawo ɖe zɔ la, tasiaɖam ƒe afɔ siwo le wo xa la hã ɖea zɔ, eye ne nu gbagbeawo kɔ wo ɖokuiwo dzi tso anyigba la, afɔawo hã kɔa wo ɖokuiwo dzi.
So as the living creatures moved, the wheels moved beside them, and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels also rose.
20 Afi sia afi si gbɔgbɔ la ayi la, woawo hã yina, afɔawo hã kɔa wo ɖokuiwo dzi yina, elabena nu gbagbeawo ƒe gbɔgbɔ le afɔawo hã me.
Wherever the spirit would go, they would go, and the wheels would rise alongside them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
21 Ne nu gbagbeawo ɖe zɔ la, woawo hã ɖea zɔ; ne nu gbagbeawo tɔ la, woawo hã tɔna, eye ne nu gbagbeawo kɔ wo ɖokuiwo dzi tso anyigba la, tasiaɖam ƒe afɔawo hã kɔa wo ɖokuiwo dzi tso anyigba abe nu gbagbeawo ene, elabena nu gbagbeawo ƒe gbɔgbɔ nɔ tasiaɖam ƒe afɔawo me.
When the creatures moved, the wheels moved; when the creatures stood still, the wheels stood still; and when the creatures rose from the ground, the wheels rose alongside them, because the spirit of the living creatures was in the wheels.
Spread out above the heads of the living creatures was the likeness of an awesome expanse, gleaming like crystal.
23 Nu gbagbeawo keke aʋala ɖekaɖeka do ɖe wo nɔewo gbɔ, eye ɖe sia ɖe tsyɔ aʋala eve na eɖokui.
And under the expanse, their wings stretched out toward one another. Each one also had two wings covering its body.
24 Esi nu gbagbeawo ɖe zɔ la, mese gbeɖiɖi aɖe tso woƒe aʋalawo me abe tɔsisiwo ƒe ɖiɖi ene, abe Ŋusẽkatãtɔ la ƒe gbe ene, abe aʋakɔ aɖe ƒe ʋunyaʋunyawɔwɔ ene. Ne nu gbagbeawo tɔ ɖe teƒe ɖeka la, woɖiɖia woƒe aʋalawo.
When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings like the roar of many waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army. When they stood still, they lowered their wings.
25 Gbe aɖe ɖi tso nu si xe tame na wo la tame esi wotɔ heɖiɖi woƒe aʋalawo.
And there came a voice from above the expanse over their heads as they stood still with their wings lowered.
26 Nane si ɖi fiazikpui si wowɔ kple kpe xɔasi ene la le nu si xe woƒe tame la tame, eye nane si ɖi ame la nɔ fiazikpui la dzi le yame ʋĩi.
Above the expanse over their heads was the likeness of a throne with the appearance of sapphire, and on the throne high above was a figure like that of a man.
27 Mekpɔ be nu si dze abe eƒe ali gbɔ ene, yi eƒe dzime la, le abe ga si le keklẽm ene. Tso afi ma yi anyigba la, le abe dzo ene, eye keklẽ gã aɖe ƒo xlãe.
From what seemed to be His waist up, I saw a gleam like amber, with what looked like fire within it all around. And from what seemed to be His waist down, I saw what looked like fire; and brilliant light surrounded Him.
The appearance of the brilliant light all around Him was like that of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell facedown and heard a voice speaking.
