< Daniel 8 >
1 Le fia Belsazar ƒe fiaɖuɖu ƒe ƒe etɔ̃lia me la, nye Daniel mekpɔ ŋutega aɖe ɖe esi mekpɔ xoxo la yome.
In the third year of the reign of king Belshazzar a vision appeared unto me, even unto me, Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.
2 Le nye ŋutega la me la, mekpɔ ɖokuinye be mele Susa fiadu la me le Elam nutogã me. Le ŋutega la me la, mekpɔ hã be menɔ Ulai tɔsisi la to.
And I saw in the vision; now it was so, that when I saw, I was in Shushan the palace, which is in the province of Elam; and I saw in the vision, and I was by the river Ulai.
3 Mefɔ kɔ dzi, eye mekpɔ agbo aɖe si to dzo eve, wòtsi tsitre ɖe tɔsisi la to; eƒe dzowo didi. Dzoawo dometɔ ɖeka nɔ kpuie wu evelia gake eva didi ɖe edzi emegbe.
Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and, behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns: and the two horns were high; but one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.
4 Menɔ ŋku lém ɖe agboa ŋu esi wònɔ dzo dam ɖo ta ɣetoɖoƒe kple anyiehe kple dziehe. Lã aɖeke mete ŋu nɔ te ɖe enu o eye ɖeke mete ŋu xɔ nu léle le esi o. Ewɔ nu si dze eŋu eye wòkpɔ ŋusẽ ŋutɔ.
I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward; and no beasts could stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; but he did according to his will, and magnified himself.
5 Esi menɔ nu sia ŋu bum la, gbɔ̃tsu aɖe tso ɣetoɖoƒe gome va le anyigba blibo la dzi tsam kple du gake eƒe afɔwo menɔ anyigba kam o. Gbɔ̃tsu la to dzo titri eve ɖe eƒe ŋkuwo dome.
And as I was considering, behold, a he-goat came from the west over the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.
6 Eva agbo si to dzo eve si mekpɔ le tɔsisi la to la gbɔ eye wòlũ ɖe edzi kple dɔmedzoe helĩhelĩ.
And he came to the ram that had the two horns, which I saw standing before the river, and ran upon him in the fury of his power.
7 Mekpɔe wòlũ ɖe agbo la dzi dɔmedzoetɔe, tu dzoe eye wòŋe eƒe dzo eveawo. Ŋusẽ menɔ agbo la ŋu wòatrɔ anɔ te ɖe enu o. Gbɔ̃tsu la ƒoe ƒu anyi, tu afɔ edzi eye naneke mete ŋu ɖee le eƒe asi me o.
And I saw him come close unto the ram, and he was moved with anger against him, and smote the ram, and brake his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him; but he cast him down to the ground, and trampled upon him; and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.
8 Gbɔ̃tsu la va xɔ ŋkɔ ale gbegbe gake le eƒe ŋusẽ ƒe kɔkɔƒe la, eƒe dzo biɖa la ŋe eye dzo titri ene to ɖe eteƒe do ɖe dziƒoya eneawo gbɔ.
And the he-goat magnified himself exceedingly: and when he was strong, the great horn was broken; and instead of it there came up four notable [horns] toward the four winds of heaven.
9 Dzo bubu to tso dzoawo dometɔ ɖeka me. Dzo sia nɔ sue gake eva tsi le ŋusẽ me yi ɖe dziehe godo, va ɣedzeƒe, do ɖe Anyigba Nyui la gbɔ ke.
And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the glorious [land].
10 Etsi va se ɖe esime wòtɔ dziƒo ŋu, ena ɣletivi aɖewo ge va dze anyigba eye wòtu afɔ wo dzi.
And it waxed great, even to the host of heaven; and some of the host and of the stars it cast down to the ground, and trampled upon them.
11 Edo eɖokui ɖe dzi ɖe aʋakɔwo ƒe Fia la ŋu eye wòxɔ gbe sia gbe ƒe vɔsalã le esi hegbã eƒe nɔƒe kɔkɔe la.
Yea, it magnified itself, even to the prince of the host; and it took away from him the continual [burnt-offering], and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.
And the host was given over [to it] together with the continual [burnt-offering] through transgression; and it cast down truth to the ground, and it did [its pleasure] and prospered.
13 Tete mese ame kɔkɔe aɖe wònɔ nu ƒom eye ame kɔkɔe bubu gblɔ nɛ be “Va se ɖe ɣe ka ɣi hafi ŋutega sia nava eme, ŋutega si ku ɖe gbe sia gbe ƒe vɔsa, aglãdzedze si hea gbegblẽ vɛ kple asiɖeɖe le kɔkɔeƒe la ŋu kple dɔla si dzi woanye avuzi le?”
Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said unto that certain one who spake, How long shall be the vision [concerning] the continual [burnt-offering], and the transgression that maketh desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot?
14 Egblɔ nam be, “Fiẽ kple ŋdi akpe eve alafa etɔ̃ ava yi ekema woagbugbɔ kɔkɔƒe la ŋu akɔ.”
And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred evenings [and] mornings; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.
15 Esime nye, Daniel, menɔ ŋutega la kpɔm eye menɔ agbagba dzem be mase egɔme la, ame aɖe si ɖi ŋutsu la tsi tsitre ɖe nye ŋkume
And it came to pass, when I, even I Daniel, had seen the vision, that I sought to understand it; and, behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.
16 eye mese ame aɖe ƒe gbe tso Ulai tɔsisi la gbɔ wògblɔ be, “Gabriel, gblɔ ŋutega la ƒe gɔmeɖeɖe na ŋutsu sia.”
And I heard a man’s voice between [the banks of] the Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.
17 Esi wògogo afi si metsi tsitre ɖo la, vɔvɔ̃ ɖom eye metsyɔ mo anyi. Egblɔ nam be, “Ame vi, se egɔme be ŋutega la ku ɖe nuwuwu ƒe ɣeyiɣi ŋu.”
So he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was affrighted, and fell upon my face: but he said unto me, Understand, O son of man; for the vision belongeth to the time of the end.
18 Esime wònɔ nu ƒom nam la, menɔ alɔ̃ me ʋĩi eye metsyɔ mo anyi. Eka asi ŋunye eye wòfɔm ɖe tsitre.
Now as he was speaking with me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face toward the ground; but he touched me, and set me upright.
19 Egblɔ nam be, “Kpɔ ɖa, mele nu si ava dzɔ emegbe le dɔmedzoe ƒe ɣeyiɣi me la gblɔ ge na wò elabena ŋutega la ku ɖe nuwuwu ƒe ɣeyiɣi ɖoɖo la ŋu.
And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the latter time of the indignation; for it belongeth to the appointed time of the end.
20 Agbo dzoevee si nèkpɔ la nye Media fia kple Persia fia.
The ram which thou sawest, that had the two horns, they are the kings of Media and Persia.
21 Gbɔ̃tsu la nye Grik fia eye dzo titri si nɔ eƒe ŋkuwo dome lae nye fia gbãtɔ.
And the rough he-goat is the king of Greece: and the great horn that is between his eyes is the first king.
22 Dzo ene siwo to ɖe ɖeka si woŋe teƒe lae nye fiaɖuƒe ene siwo ado tso eƒe dukɔ me gake ŋusẽ ma tɔgbi ke manɔ wo ŋu o.
And as for that which was broken, in the place whereof four stood up, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not with his power.
23 “Le woƒe dziɖuɖu ƒe nuwuwu lɔƒo esime aglãdzelawo ƒe aglãdzedze ado gã ɖe edzi la, fia vlo aɖe si nye ayetɔ gã aɖe la, ado.
And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.
24 Azu ame sesẽ aɖe ŋutɔ gake menye to eya ŋutɔ ƒe ŋusẽ me o. Agblẽ nuwo nyamanyama eye wòakpɔ dzidzedze le nu sia nu si wòawɔ la me. Atsrɔ̃ ŋutsuwo kple ame kɔkɔewo.
And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper and do [his pleasure]; and he shall destroy the mighty ones and the holy people.
25 Ana beble nakpɔ dzidzedze eye wòabu eɖokui gã wu ale si wòle. Ne amewo bu be yewole dedie la, awu wo dometɔ geɖewo eye wòatsi tsitre ɖe fiawo dzi Fia la ŋu. Ke woatsrɔ̃e gake menye to amegbetɔ ƒe ŋusẽ me o.
And through his policy he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and in [their] security shall he destroy many: he shall also stand up against the prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
26 “Ŋutega si wona nèkpɔ tso fiẽ kple ŋdi ŋu la nye nyateƒe gake dzra ŋutega la ɖo ɖe wò dzi me elabena eku ɖe ɣeyiɣi didi aɖe si gbɔna la ŋu.”
And the vision of the evenings and mornings which hath been told is true: but shut thou up the vision; for it belongeth to many days [to come].
27 Ɖeɖi te nye, Daniel ŋu eye menɔ dɔba dzi ŋkeke aɖewo. Emegbe mefɔ eye meyi fia la ƒe dɔwɔwɔ dzi. Ŋutega la wɔ nuku nam ŋutɔ; ekɔ wu amewo ƒe gɔmesese.
And I, Daniel, fainted, and was sick certain days; then I rose up, and did the king’s business: and I wondered at the vision, but none understood it.
