< Dɔwɔwɔwo 6 >
In those days, as the number of disciples was increasing, there occurred a murmuring of the Greeks against the Hebrews, because their widows were treated with disdain in the daily ministration.
2 Le esia ta la, apostolo wuieveawo ƒo xɔsetɔwo katã nu ƒu hegblɔ na wo be, “Nɔviwo, mele be míawo míatsɔ nuɖuɖudzikpɔkpɔ awɔ míaƒe dɔe o. Míaƒe dɔe nye be míagblɔ mawunya.
And so the twelve, calling together the multitude of the disciples, said: “It is not fair for us to leave behind the Word of God to serve at tables also.
3 Eya ta nɔviwo, mitia mia dometɔ adre siwo sea nu gɔme, ame siwo me Gbɔgbɔ Kɔkɔe la yɔ fũu, eye ame sia ame kpɔ ŋudzedze le wo ŋu, ne míatsɔ nuɖuɖudzikpɔdɔ sia ade wo si koŋ,
Therefore, brothers, search among yourselves for seven men of good testimony, filled with the Holy Spirit and with wisdom, whom we may appoint over this work.
4 ale be míawo la, míakpɔ ɣeyiɣi awɔ míaƒe dɔ si nye gbedodoɖa, mawunyagbɔgblɔ kple nufiafia amewo.”
Yet truly, we will be continually in prayer and in the ministry of the Word.”
And the plan pleased the entire multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man filled with faith and with the Holy Spirit, and Philip and Prochorus and Nicanor and Timon and Parmenas and Nicolas, a new arrival from Antioch.
6 Esi wotia ame adre siawo vɔ la, wokplɔ wo va apostoloawo gbɔe, eye wodo gbe ɖa ɖe wo ta, da asi ɖe wo dzi, heyra wo.
These they set before the sight of the Apostles, and while praying, they imposed hands on them.
And the Word of the Lord was increasing, and the number of disciples in Jerusalem was multiplied exceedingly. And even a large group of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8 Azɔ la, Stefano, ame si Mawu ƒe amenuveve kple ŋusẽ yɔ fũu, eye eƒe xɔse de to blibo la wɔ nukunu kple dzesi geɖewo le amewo dome.
Then Stephen, filled with grace and fortitude, wrought great signs and miracles among the people.
9 Ke yometiti va na xɔseha tso Yudatɔwo ƒe xɔseha aɖe si woyɔna be, Ablɔɖe ƒuƒoƒe la me. Ha sia me nɔlawo nye Yudatɔ siwo tso Kirene, Aleksandria kple Kilikia nutowo me kpakple Asia. Ame siawo de asi nyahehe me kple Stefano.
But certain ones, from the synagogue of the so-called Libertines, and of the Cyrenians, and of the Alexandrians, and of those who were from Cilicia and Asia rose up and were disputing with Stephen.
10 Gake wo dometɔ aɖeke mete ŋu ɖu Stefano dzi o, le eƒe nunya kple gbɔgbɔ si le eme la ta.
But they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit with which he was speaking.
11 Le esia ta la, wokplɔ ŋutsu aɖewo be woava ɖi aʋatsoɖase be, “Míese Stefano wòle busunya gblɔm ɖe Mose kple Mawu ŋu.”
Then they suborned men who were to claim that they had heard him speaking words of blasphemy against Moses and against God.
12 Ale wode zi ameawo, amegãwo kple agbalẽfialawo me. Wolé Stefano hekplɔe yi ʋɔnudrɔ̃lawo ƒe ŋkumee.
And thus did they stir up the people and the elders and the scribes. And hurrying together, they seized him and brought him to the council.
13 Aʋatsoɖaseɖila siawo va ɖi ɖase le eŋu le ʋɔnua be, “Ame sia ƒe nuƒoƒo tsia tsitre ɖe teƒe kɔkɔe la kple Mose ƒe sewo ŋu ɣe sia ɣi.”
And they set up false witnesses, who said: “This man does not cease to speak words against the holy place and the law.
14 Woyi edzi gblɔ be, “Míese Stefano gblɔ be Yesu Nazaretitɔ sia ava gbã gbedoxɔ la, eye wòaɖe se siwo katã Mose na mí la ɖa.”
For we have heard him saying that this Jesus the Nazarene will destroy this place and will change the traditions, which Moses handed down to us.”
15 Esi nu siawo nɔ edzi yim la, ame siwo katã nɔ takpekpea me la kpɔ be Stefano ƒe mo trɔ, nɔ keklẽm abe mawudɔla tɔ ene.
And all those who were sitting in the council, gazing at him, saw his face, as if it had become the face of an Angel.
