1 Esi Festus dze eƒe dɔ gɔme le Kaesarea ƒe ŋkeke etɔ̃a gbe tututu la, eɖi tsa yi Yerusalem.
Now when Festus had come into the province, after three days he ascended from Cesarea to Jerusalem.
2 Nunɔlagãwo kple Yudatɔwo ƒe dumegãwo wɔ mɔnukpɔkpɔ sia ŋuti dɔ heka Paulo ƒe nya la ta nɛ.
Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,
3 Wodze agbagba bia amenuveve tso Festus gbɔ be wòaɖo Paulo ɖe Yerusalem enumake kple susu be, yewoabe ɖe mɔa dzi awui.
And desired favor against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.
4 Festus ɖo eŋu be, “Esi Paulo le gaxɔ me le Kaesarea, eye nye hã mele afi ma yi ge kpuie la,
But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Cesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly [thither].
5 mina miaƒe kplɔla aɖewo nadze yonyeme aɖatsɔ nya ɖe ŋutsu la ŋu le afi ma nenye be eda vo aɖe.”
Let them therefore, said he, who among you are able, go down with [me], and accuse this man, if there is any wickedness in him.
6 Le ŋkeke enyi alo ewo megbe la, Festus trɔ yi Kaesarea, eye le ŋkeke evea gbe tututu la, eyɔ Paulo ƒe nya la le ʋɔnu.
And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down to Cesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment-seat, commanded Paul to be brought.
7 Esi Paulo va ɖo ʋɔnua ko la, Yudatɔ siwo tso Yerusalem va la le tsitre ƒo xlãe, eye wotsɔ nutsotso vevi geɖewo vɛ ɖe Paul ŋu, esiwo ŋu womete ŋu fia kpɔɖeŋu aɖeke le o.
And when he had come, the Jews who came down from Jerusalem stood around, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove;
8 Ke Paulo ɖo eŋu na wo be, “Nyemedze agɔ le ame aɖeke dzi o. Nyemeda Yudatɔwo ƒe se aɖeke dzi o, eye nyemedo vlo gbedoxɔ la hã o. Gawu la, nyemetsi tsitre ɖe Roma dziɖuɖu alo Kaisaro ŋu o.”
While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Cesar have I committed any offense.
9 Ke Festus di vevie be yeave Yudatɔwo nu, eya ta ebia Paulo be, “Èlɔ̃ be yeayi Yerusalem be madrɔ̃ ʋɔnu ye le afi ma?”
But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go to Jerusalem, and there be judged concerning these things before me?
10 Paulo ɖo eŋu nɛ be, “Kaisaro ƒe ʋɔnudrɔ̃zikpui la ŋgɔe nye esi mele tsitre ɖo, afi si wòle be wòadrɔ̃ ʋɔnum le sea nu le. Nyemewɔ vɔ̃ aɖeke Yudatɔwo o, abe ale si wò ŋutɔ nènya nyuie ene.
Then said Paul, I stand at Cesar's tribunal, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.
11 Ne mewɔ nane si dze na ku la, nyemele ku vɔ̃m o. Ke ne vodada aɖeke mele ŋunye o la, medze be wò alo ame bubu aɖeke nakɔm ade asi na ame siawo be woawum o. Metsɔ nye nya de asi na Fia Kaisaro ŋutɔ!”
For if I am an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there is none of these things of which these accuse me, no man may deliver me to them. I appeal to Cesar.
12 Nya sia na be Festus trɔ ɖe eŋumewo ŋu eye wodo dalĩ vie. Emegbe la, etrɔ ɖe Paulo gbɔ, gblɔ nɛ be, “Enyo; Paulo, esi nètsɔ wò nya de asi na Kaisaro ta la, míaɖo wo ɖe Kaisaro gbɔ.”
Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed to Cesar? to Cesar thou shalt go.
13 Le ŋkeke ʋɛ aɖewo megbe la, Fia Agripa kple nɔvia nyɔnu, Benis ɖi tsa va Festus gbɔ le Kaesarea be yewoakpɔe ɖa.
And after certain days, king Agrippa and Bernice came to Cesarea, to salute Festus.
14 Le woƒe afi ma nɔnɔ me la, Festus gblɔ Paulo ƒe nya na fia la be, “Felix gblẽ ame aɖe ɖe gaxɔ me le afi sia hafi meva xɔ eteƒe.
And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul's cause to the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:
15 Eye esi meɖi tsa de Yerusalem la, nunɔlagãwo kple Yudatɔwo ƒe tatɔwo va gbɔnye hewɔ nutsotso geɖe ɖe ame sia ŋu, eye wobia tso asinye be matso kufia nɛ.
About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed [me], desiring [to have] judgment against him.
16 Ke abe ale si wò ŋutɔ nènyae ene la, megblɔ na wo be míaƒe Roma se la meɖe mɔ be woabu fɔ ame ʋɔnumadrɔmadrɔ̃e o, ke boŋ ele be woana mɔe be wòaɖe eɖokui nu le ame siwo tsɔ nya ɖe eŋu la ŋkume.
To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before he who is accused hath the accusers face to face, and hath license to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
17 “Esi Yudatɔwo tso Yerusalem va afi sia la, meyɔ ʋɔnua, eye mena wokplɔ Paulo va ʋɔnuae.
Therefore, when they had come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment-seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth;
18 Esi enutsolawo tsi tsitre be woaƒo nu la, wometsɔ nya sesẽ aɖeke ɖe eŋu, abe ale si mebui ene o,
Against whom, when the accusers stood up, they brought no accusation of such things as I supposed:
19 ke boŋ nyaʋiʋli aɖewo tso woƒe subɔsubɔ kple ame aɖe si woyɔna be Yesu, ame si ku, gake Paulo ya gale gbɔgblɔm be ele agbe kokoko la ŋu.
But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus who was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
20 Esi mese woƒe nyawo la, metɔtɔ ŋutɔ, elabena nyemenya ale si madrɔ̃ nya sia ƒomevie o. Mebia Paulo be alɔ̃ be woadrɔ̃ nya sia le Yerusalem hã?
And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked [him] whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged concerning these matters.
21 Gake Paulo gbe gblɔ be yedi be Kaisaro gã la ŋutɔ nadrɔ̃ ʋɔnu ye. Le esia ta la, megana be woagbugbɔe ayi gaxɔ me va se ɖe esime mate ŋu aɖoe ɖe Kaisaro gbɔ.”
But when Paul had appealed to be reserved to the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Cesar.
22 Agripa gblɔ na Festus be, “Nye ŋutɔ medi be mabia gbe Paulo ase eƒe numegbe.” Festus do ŋugbe nɛ be, “Etsɔ àse eƒe numegbe.”
Then Agrippa said to Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To-morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
23 Le ŋkeke evea gbe tututu la, Agripa kple Benis va do ɖe ʋɔnudrɔ̃ƒe la le bubu kple atsyɔ̃ɖoɖo gã me. Asrafowo kple dumegãwo hã nɔ wo ŋu. Esi woɖi anyi vɔ la, Festus na wokplɔ Paulo va wo ŋkumee.
And on the morrow, when Agrippa had come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and had entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains and principal men of the city, at the command of Festus Paul was brought forth.
24 Festus ƒo nu na ƒuƒoƒe la be, “Fia Agripa kple ame siwo katã ƒo ƒu ɖe afi sia, ame si le mia dome lae nye ame si Yudatɔ siwo le du sia me kple Yerusalem siaa la di be woatso kufia na.
And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men who are here present with us, ye see this man about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and [also] here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
25 Ke le nye nukpɔkpɔ nu la, mewɔ naneke si dze na ku o. Ke esi eya ŋutɔ bia be Kaisaro ŋutɔ nadrɔ̃ ʋɔnu ye ta la, wɔna aɖeke megale ŋunye wu be maɖoe ɖe Kaisaro gbɔ le Roma o.
But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
26 Gake hã la, nyemenya nya ka tututu maŋlɔ ɖo ɖe Fiagã la abe nutsotso le eŋu ene o, elabena wometsɔ nya gobii aɖeke ɖe eŋu o. Eya ta mekplɔe vɛ na mi katã, vevietɔ wò Fia Agripa, be nàbia gbee, eye to esia me makpɔ nane aŋlɔ tso eŋu.
Of whom I have no certain thing to write to my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that after examination had, I may have somewhat to write.
27 Elabena susu mele eme be woaɖo gamenɔla aɖe ɖe Kaisaro be wòadrɔ̃ ʋɔnue le esime wometɔ asi nutsotso aɖeke dzi tso eŋu o.”
For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not also to signify the crimes [laid] against him.
