1 Teƒe gbãtɔ si Paulo kple Sila de lae nye Derbe. Emegbe la, woyi Listra. Le afi sia la, wodo go nusrɔ̃la aɖe si ŋkɔe nye Timoteo, ame si dada nye Yudatɔ kple xɔsetɔ, ke fofoa nye Grikitɔ.
THEN he came to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold! a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a certain Jewish woman, who believed; but his father was a Greek:
2 Timoteo nye ɖekakpui aɖe si ƒe dɔwɔwɔ dze kristotɔ siwo le Listra kple Ikonio la ŋu ŋutɔ.
who was highly spoken of by the brethren at Lystra and Iconium.
3 Le esia ta la, Paulo bia tso esi be wòadze yewo yome le yewoƒe mɔzɔzɔ la me. Hafi woadze mɔ la, Paulo tso aʋa na Timoteo be wòaganye nuɖianu na Yudatɔ siwo le nuto la me o, elabena ele nyanya me na ame sia ame be Helatɔe nye Timoteo fofo.
Him Paul resolved to take out with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in those places: for they all knew his father, that he was a Greek.
4 Azɔ woyi woƒe mɔzɔzɔ dzi henɔ tsatsam le duwo me. Afi sia afi si woɖo la, wogblɔa nya siwo dzi apostolowo kple hamemegãwo ɖo kpee le Yerusalem la na wo be woalé wo me ɖe asi.
So as they passed through the cities, they delivered to them for their observance the ordinances decreed by the apostles and presbyters that were at Jerusalem.
5 Esia na be hameawo tsi ɖe edzi le xɔse me, eye woƒe xexlẽme hã dzi ɖe edzi.
Then were the churches established truly in the faith, and increased in number daily.
6 Tso afi ma la, woyi Frigia kple Galatia nuto me, elabena Gbɔgbɔ Kɔkɔe la meɖe mɔ na wo be woayi Asianyigba dzi le ɣeyiɣi sia me o.
So passing through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, being forbidden by the Holy Ghost to speak the word in Asia,
7 Woto Misia liƒo dzi heyina Bitinia lɔƒo. Ke Yesu ƒe gbɔgbɔ gaxe mɔ na wo, eya ta womete ŋu yi Bitinia o,
coming as far as Mysia, they made an effort to go unto Bythinia: but the Spirit permitted them not.
8 ke boŋ woto Misia nuto me heyi Troa.
Whereupon passing by Mysia they went down to Troas.
9 Le gbe ma gbe ƒe zã me la, Paulo kpɔ ŋutega aɖe. Ekpɔ ame aɖe si tsi tsitre ɖe Makedonia le Helanyigba dzi nɔ kuku ɖem nɛ be, “Tso ƒu la nàva mía gbɔ le Makedonia afi sia, ne nàva kpe ɖe mía ŋu.”
And a vision by night appeared to Paul; a certain man, a Macedonian, stood by him, entreating him, and saying, Pass over into Macedonia, and help us.
10 Enumake míeɖoe be míayi Makedonia, elabena edze na mí kɔtɛe be Mawu le mía ɖom ɖe afi ma be míaɖagblɔ nyanyui la.
But when he saw the vision, immediately we sought to go forth into Macedonia, concluding that the Lord had called us to preach the gospel to them.
11 Míeɖo tɔdziʋu le Troa va Samotrake, eye le ŋkeke evea gbe la, míeva ɖo Neapoli.
Therefore sailing from Troas, we came in a direct course to Samothrace, and the next day to Neapolis;
12 Mlɔeba la, míeva ɖo Filipi si nye Romatɔwo ƒe du aɖe si le Makedonianyigba ƒe liƒo dzi tututu. Míenɔ afi ma ŋkeke geɖewo.
and from thence to Philippi, which is the first city in that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we abode in that city some days.
13 Le Dzudzɔgbe dzi la, míeyi tɔsisi aɖe si didi tso dua gbɔ vie la to, afi si míese be ame aɖewo ƒoa ƒu ɖo doa gbe ɖa le, eye gbe ma gbe la, míegblɔ mawunya na nyɔnu siwo va teƒea.
And on the sabbath-day we went forth out of the city to the river side, where an oratory was by custom established; and sitting down, we spoke to the women who there assembled.
14 Nyɔnu siawo dometɔ ɖekae nye Lidia, si nye avɔdzrala aɖe tso Tiatira. Enye mawuvɔ̃la xoxo, eye esi Paulo nɔ nu ƒom la, Mawu ʋu eƒe dzi, eye wòxɔ nya siwo katã Paulo gblɔ la dzi se.
And a certain woman, Lydia by name, a seller of purple, from the city of Thyatira, a worshipper of God, hearkened: whose heart the Lord thoroughly opened, to attend to the words spoken by Paul.
15 Esia ta míede mawutsi ta na eya kple eƒe aƒemetɔwo katã, eye emegbe la, ekpe mí be míava dze yeƒe aƒe me. Lidia gblɔ na mí be, “Ne miexɔe se tututu be menye Aƒetɔ la dzixɔsela vavã la, ekema miva dze gbɔnye.” Eƒoe ɖe mía nu ʋuu va se ɖe esime míelɔ̃ ɖadze egbɔ.
So when she was baptised, and her house, she entreated, saying, Since ye have judged that I am faithful to the Lord, come and abide at my house. And she constrained us.
16 Gbe ɖeka la, esi míenɔ mɔ dzi yina gbedoɖaƒe le tɔa to la, míedo go dɔlanyɔnuvi aɖe si me gbɔgbɔ vɔ̃ nɔ, eye wòtea ŋu kaa nu na amewo, eye to esia me wòwɔa ga geɖe ŋutɔ na eƒe aƒetɔ, elabena kluvi wònye.
Now it happened as we were going to the oratory, a certain damsel having a pythonic spirit met us, who produced for her masters much gain as a fortuneteller:
17 Ɖetugbi sia nɔ Paulo kple mía yome nɔ ɣli dom be, “Ame siawo la, Mawu Dziƒoʋĩtɔ la ƒe dɔlawo wonye, eye ɖe wova be yewoafia ale si miawɔ be miakpɔ ɖeɖe la mi.”
she following Paul and us, cried out, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, who preach to you the way of salvation.
18 Ɖetugbi la wɔ nu sia ŋkeke geɖe, ke gbe ɖeka la, eva glo Paulo, ale wòtrɔ ɖe ɖetugbi la ŋu heblu ɖe gbɔgbɔ vɔ̃ si le eme la ta be, “Mele gbe ɖem na wò le Yesu Kristo ƒe ŋkɔ me be nàdo go le ɖetugbi sia me fifi laa!” Gbɔgbɔ vɔ̃ la do go le eme enumake.
And this she did for several days. Then Paul was wearied out, and turning, said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out that very hour.
19 Nuwɔna sia do dziku na ɖetugbi sia ƒe aƒetɔwo, elabena wobu woƒe gakpɔmɔnu. Le esia ta la, wona wolé Paulo kple Silas hekplɔ wo yi dumegãwo ƒe ŋkume le dutoƒo.
But when her masters saw that the hope of their gain was gone, they laid hold on Paul and Silas, and dragged them into the forum before the chief rulers,
20 Wotso wo nu le ʋɔnudrɔ̃lawo ŋkume be, “Yudatɔ siawo va le to gblẽm na amewo le dua me
and presenting them to the magistrates, they said, These are the men that exceedingly disturb the peace of our city, being Jews,
21 be woawɔ nu siwo tsi tsitre ɖe Romatɔwo ƒe sewo ŋu.”
and enjoin customs which it is not lawful for us to receive, or to practise, being Romans.
22 Kasia, ameha gã aɖe va ƒo ƒu tsi tsitre ɖe wo ŋu. Ʋɔnudrɔ̃lawo na be wodze woƒe awuwo, eye woɖe gbe be woaƒo wo kple ati.
And the populace stood up together against them: and the magistrates, after having had their garments torn from their backs, commanded them to be beaten with rods.
23 Esi woƒo wo wòte wo ŋu nyuie la, wotsɔ wo de gaxɔ me, eye wogblɔ na gaxɔdzikpɔla vevie be wòakpɔ wo dzi nyuie.
And laying on them many stripes, cast them into prison, commanding the jailor to keep them in safe custody:
24 Le esia ta la, gaxɔdzikpɔla hã mefe kpli wo kura o. Etsɔ wo de gaxɔa ƒe gogloeaƒe ke, eye wòde ga afɔ na wo sesĩe.
who, receiving such an injunction, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.
25 Le zã bliboa me la, Paulo kple Silas wonɔ gbe dom ɖa, nɔ ha dzim, nɔ Mawu kafum. Gaxɔmenɔla bubuawo hã nɔ woƒe hawo sem.
But about midnight Paul and Silas, after joining in prayer, sang hymns to God: and the prisoners heard them.
26 Le zã ga wuieve me lɔƒo la, anyigba ʋuʋu sesĩe, eye gaxɔ blibo la ƒe gɔmeɖokpewo ʋuʋu kpekpekpe, ʋɔtruawo katã ʋu le wo ɖokuiwo si, eye ga si wode gaxɔmenɔla ɖe sia ɖe la ɖe ɖa.
And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the very foundations of the prison were shaken: and instantly all the doors flew open, and every man’s chains were loosed.
27 Esi gaxɔdzikpɔla nyɔ tso alɔ̃ me, eye wòkpɔ be ʋɔtruawo katã nɔ ʋuʋu ɖi la, vɔvɔ̃ ɖoe, elabena ebu be gamenɔlawo katã si dzo. Le esia ta la, eɖe eƒe yi le aku me be yeawu ye ɖokui.
Then the jailor being roused from sleep, and seeing the doors of the prison open, drew his sword, going to destroy himself, supposing the prisoners had escaped.
28 Ke Paulo do ɣli gblɔ nɛ be, “Nɔvi, mègawɔ nu vevi ɖokuiwò o; mí katã míele afi sia.”
But Paul called out with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no injury: for we are all here.
29 Enumake gaxɔdzikpɔla la bia akaɖi; eƒu du yi ɖe eme, eye wòdze klo ɖe Paulo kple Silas ƒe afɔ nu le dzodzom nyanyanya.
Thereupon calling for a light, he rushed in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas;
30 Ekplɔ wo do goe hebia be, “Aƒetɔwo, nu kae le nam be mawɔ be makpɔ ɖeɖe?”
and having first brought them out, said, Sirs! what must I do to be saved?
31 Woɖo eŋu nɛ be, “Xɔ Aƒetɔ Yesu dzi se, ekema wò kple wò aƒe blibo la miakpɔ xɔxɔ.”
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, thou, and thy house.
32 Wogblɔ Aƒetɔ la ƒe nya na eya kple eƒe aƒemetɔwo katã.
And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all who were in his house.
33 Le zã ma ke me la, gaxɔdzikpɔla klɔ woƒe abiwo na wo, eye enumake wode mawutsi ta na eya kple eƒe aƒe blibo la.
And taking them that same hour of the night, he washed their stripes; and was baptised, himself and all who belonged to him immediately.
34 Ena nu wo woɖu, eye aƒea me tɔwo katã yɔ fũu kple dzidzɔ, elabena wotrɔ zu Mawu dzi xɔselawo.
And when he had brought them into his house, he spread the table, and greatly rejoiced with all his household, believing in God.
35 Le ŋdi me la, ʋɔnudrɔ̃lawo ɖo kpovitɔwo ɖe gaxɔdzikpɔla la kple gbeɖeɖe sia be, “Ɖe asi le ŋutsu mawo ŋu ne woadzo.”
But when it was day, the magistrates sent the lictors, saying, Set those men at large.
36 Gaxɔdzikpɔla la gblɔ nya la na Paulo be, “Ʋɔnudrɔ̃lawo ɖo gbe ɖa be woaɖe asi le wò kple Sila ŋuti, eya ta miate ŋu adzo azɔ. Miyi le ŋutifafa me.”
Then the jailor told these words to Paul, That the magistrates had sent to set them at liberty: now therefore, said he, get ye out, and pursue your journey in peace.
37 Ke Paulo gblɔ na kpovitɔwo be, “Woƒo mí le dutoƒo ʋɔnumadrɔmadrɔ̃e togbɔ be míenye Romatɔwo hã; wode mí gaxɔ me, ke azɔ la, woaɖe mí ado goe le adzamea? Gbeɖe! Ɖeko woawo ŋutɔ nava hafi woakplɔ mí adoe.”
But Paul said to them, They have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men that are Roman citizens, and have cast us into prison; and would they now clandestinely send us away? no, verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.
38 Kpovitɔ siwo wodɔ ɖo ɖe gaxɔdzikpɔla gbɔ la trɔ va gblɔ Paulo ƒe nya la na ʋɔnudrɔ̃lawo, eye vɔvɔ̃ ɖo wo ŋutɔ esi wose be Paulo kple Sila nye Romatɔwo ta.
Then the lictors reported all these words to the magistrates: and they were terrified, when they heard they were Roman citizens.
39 Dumegãwo ɖe abla va wo gbɔ le gaxɔ la me, eye woɖe kuku na wo be woado go adzo le dua me.
So they came and spoke kindly to them, and fetching them out, besought them to depart from the city.
40 Wodo go le gaxɔ la me. Ale Paulo kple Sila trɔ yi Lidia ƒe aƒe me, eye xɔsetɔwo va ƒo ƒu ɖe wo ŋu, eye wogagblɔ nyanyui la na wo hafi dzo le dua me.
Then leaving the prison, they went unto Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and went their way.
