< Samuel 2 12 >
1 Ale Yehowa ɖo Nyagblɔɖila Natan ɖa be wòagblɔ ŋutinya sia na David be, “Ŋutsu eve aɖewo le du aɖe me, ɖeka nye kesinɔtɔ gã aɖe eye evelia nye ame dahe.
And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him, and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.
The rich man had exceeding many flocks and herds:
3 ke alẽvi ɖeka pɛ koe nɔ ame dahe la ya si eye eya kple viawo kpɔa dzidzɔ le alẽvi la ŋu ŋutɔ. Ame dahe la nana alẽvi la ɖua nu le eya ŋutɔ ƒe agba me eye wònoa nu le eƒe kplu nu. Elénɛ ɖe abɔ abe via nyɔnuvie wònye ene.
but the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own morsel, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him, but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
5 David do dɔmedzoe eye wòka atam be, “Meta Yehowa ƒe agbe be ame si wɔ nu sia la dze na ku!
And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this is worthy to die:
6 Ele be wòatsɔ alẽ ene aɖo ɖeka si wòfi la teƒe le eƒe nublanuimakpɔmakpɔ ta.”
and he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.
7 Tete Natan gblɔ na David be, “Wò tututue nye kesinɔtɔ ma! Yehowa, Israel ƒe Mawu la gblɔ be, ‘Meɖo wò fiae ɖe Israel dzi eye meɖe wò tso Saul ƒe asi me;
And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
8 metsɔ eƒe fiasã, srɔ̃awo, eƒe fiaɖuƒe, Israel kple Yuda siaa na wò. Magate ŋu ana nu geɖewo wò wu ne esiawo mesɔ gbɔ na wò o.
and I gave thee thy master’s house, and thy master’s wives into thy bosom, and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would have added unto thee such and such things.
9 Ke nu ka ta nèdo vlo Yehowa ƒe sewo eye nèwɔ nu vɔ̃ɖi sia ɖo? Èwu Uria, Hititɔ eye nèxɔ srɔ̃a!
Wherefore hast thou despised the word of the LORD, to do that which is evil in his sight? thou hast smitten Uriah the Hittite with the sword, and hast taken his wife to be thy wife, and hast slain him with the sword of the children of Ammon.
Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from thine house; because thou hast despised me, and hast taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be thy wife.
11 “‘Meka atam be le nu si nèwɔ ta la, mana wò ŋutɔ wò aƒemetɔwo natso ɖe ŋuwò. Matsɔ srɔ̃wòwo ana ŋutsu bubuwo eye wòadɔ wo gbɔ le ŋdɔkutsu dzatsɛ be ame sia ame nakpɔ.
Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thine own house, and I will take thy wives before thine eyes, and give them unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.
For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.
13 David ʋu eme nublanuitɔe na Natan be, “Mewɔ nu vɔ̃ ɖe Yehowa ŋu.” Natan ɖo eŋu be, “Ɛ̃, gake Yehowa tsɔe ke wò eye màku le nu vɔ̃ sia ta o
And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die.
14 gake èna mɔnukpɔkpɔ gã aɖe Yehowa ƒe futɔwo be woado vlo Yehowa eye woagblɔ busunyawo ɖe eŋu eya ta viwò la aku.”
Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.
15 Natan trɔ yi aƒe me.
And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah’s wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.
16 David ɖe kuku na Mawu be wòana ɖevi la natsi agbe, egbe nuɖuɖu eye wòmlɔ anyigba ƒuƒlu le Yehowa ŋkume to zã blibo la me.
David therefore besought God for the child; and David fasted, and went in, and lay all night upon the earth.
17 Ametsitsi siwo le eƒe aƒe me la kpɔ egbɔ be woana wòafɔ aɖu nu, gake egbe fɔfɔ eye melɔ̃ hã be yeaɖu naneke kpli wo o.
And the elders of his house arose, [and stood] beside him, to raise him up from the earth: but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.
David ŋumewo vɔ̃ be yewoagblɔe nɛ. Wogblɔ be “Esi ɖevia nɔ agbe la, míeƒo nu nɛ, ke meɖo to mí o; azɔ la, aleke míawɔ agblɔ nɛ be ɖevia ku? Ate ŋu awɔ nuvevi eɖokui.”
And it came to pass on the seventh day, that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead: for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spake unto him, and he hearkened not unto our voice: how will he then vex himself, if we tell him that the child is dead?
19 Ke esi David kpɔ wo wonɔ dalĩ dom na wo nɔewo la, enya nya si dzɔ. Ebia be, “Ɖevia kua?” Woɖo eŋu be, “Ɛ̃, eku.”
But when David saw that his servants whispered together, David perceived that the child was dead: and David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.
20 David fɔ le anyigba, le tsi, vu ɖa, ɖɔli awu eye wòyi ɖasubɔ le Yehowa ƒe aƒe me. Le esiawo megbe la, etrɔ va fiasã la me, bia be woaɖa nu na ye eye wòɖu nua nyuie.
Then David arose from the earth, and washed, and anointed himself, and changed his apparel; and he came into the house of the LORD, and worshipped: then he came to his own house; and when he required they set bread before him, and he did eat.
21 Nu sia wɔ nuku na eŋumewo eye wogblɔ nɛ be, “Míese wò nuwɔna sia gɔme o. Esi ɖevia nɔ agbe la, èfa avi eye nègbe nuɖuɖu, ke azɔ esi ɖevia ku la, èdzudzɔ konyifafa eye nègade asi nuɖuɖu me.”
Then said his servants unto him, What thing is this that thou hast done? thou didst fast and weep for the child, while it was alive; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.
22 David ɖo eŋu be, “Metsi nu dɔ eye mefa avi esi ɖevia nɔ agbe elabena megblɔ be, ‘Ɖewohĩ Yehowa ave nunye eye wòana ɖevia natsi agbe.’
And he said, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept: for I said, Who knoweth whether the LORD will not be gracious to me, that the child may live?
23 Ke nu ka ta magatsi nu adɔ esi wòku? Ɖe mate ŋu ana wòagbɔ agbea? Egbɔe mayi, ke eya magate ŋu atrɔ va gbɔnye o.”
But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
24 David fa akɔ na Batseba eye esi wògadɔ egbɔ la, edzi ŋutsuvi eye wòna ŋkɔe be Solomo. Yehowa lɔ̃ ɖevia
And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife, and went in unto her, and lay with her: and she bare a son, and he called his name Solomon. And the LORD loved him;
25 eye wòɖo du kple yayra ɖee to Nyagblɔɖila Natan dzi, be woana ŋkɔ ɖevia be “Yedidia” si gɔmee nye, “Yehowa ƒe lɔlɔ̃tɔ” le lɔlɔ̃ tɔxɛ si Yehowa tsɔ nɛ la ta.
and he sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and he called his name Jedidiah, for the LORD’S sake.
26 Azɔ la, Yoab wɔ aʋa kple Amonitɔwo ƒe Raba eye wòxɔ fiadu la.
Now Joab fought against Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and took the royal city.
27 Yoab ɖo amewo ɖa be woagblɔ na David be, “Mewɔ aʋa kple Raba eye mexɔ eƒe tsiduƒe la.
And Joab sent messengers to David, and said, I have fought against Rabbah, yea, I have taken the city of waters.
28 Azɔ la, kplɔ aʋawɔla mamlɛawo, nàɖe to ɖe dua eye nàxɔe. Ne menye nenema o la, maxɔ dua eye matsɔ nye ŋkɔ nɛ.”
Now therefore gather the rest of the people together, and encamp against the city, and take it: lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.
29 Ale David kplɔ aʋakɔ blibo la yi Raba, wɔ aʋa eye wòxɔ du la.
And David gathered all the people together, and went to Rabbah, and fought against it, and took it.
And he took the crown of their king from off his head; and the weight thereof was a talent of gold, and [in it were] precious stones; and it was set on David’s head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city, exceeding much.
31 Ekplɔ dua me nɔlawo dzoe eye wode dɔ sesẽwo wɔwɔ asi na wo be woawɔ kple laxalaxawo, fiwo kple fiawo. Ena wowɔ dɔ le kpemeƒe la hã. Ewɔ Amonitɔwo ƒe duwo katã me tɔwo alea.
And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the brickkiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. And David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.
