1 Mègaƒo nu na ametsitsi aɖeke kple adã o, ke boŋ ƒo nu nɛ bubutɔe abe wò ŋutɔ fofowòe nèle nu ƒom na ene. Ƒo nu na ɖekakpuiwo abe ale si nàƒo nu na nɔviwò ŋutsu lɔlɔ̃awo ene.
An elder not you may rebuke but do exhort [him] as a father, younger [men] as brothers,
2 Tsɔ nyɔnu tsitsiwo abe dawòwo ene, eye ɖetugbiwo abe nɔviwò nyɔnuwo ene eye susu dzadzɛwo ko nanɔ wò ta me ɖe wo ŋu.
elder [women] as mothers, [and] younger [women] as sisters in all purity.
3 Nenye be ahosiwo mekpɔ ame aɖeke wòakpɔ wo dzi o la, ekema hamea natsɔe ɖo eɖokui dzi, atsɔ lɔlɔ̃ akpɔ wo dzii.
Widows do honor who [are] truly widows.
4 Ke ne viwo alo mamayɔviwo le wo si la, ekema ele be woawo nakpɔ wo dzi, elabena ele be dɔmenyowɔwɔ nadze egɔme tso aƒe me, eya ta ele be woakpe ɖe wo dzila siwo le hiã me la ŋuti. Esia nye nane si dzea Mawu ŋu ŋutɔŋutɔ.
If however any widow children or grandchildren has, they should learn first [her] own household to be devout and recompense to give to parents; this for is (good and *K*) pleasing before God.
5 Hame la nekpɔ ahosi dahe siwo tsi akogo le xexea me la dzi nenye be wole Mawu sinu kpɔm be wòakpe ɖe yewo ŋuti, eye wole gbe dom ɖa atraɖii,
She who [is] now indeed a widow and abandoned she has hope in (*ko*) God and she continues in supplications and in prayers by night and day;

She however living in self-indulgence [while] living has died.

Also these things do command, so that above reproach they may be.

If now anyone [their] own and especially (of the *k*) [their] household not (does provide for, *N(k)O*) the faith he has denied and he is than an unbeliever worse.
9 Womatsɔ ahosi aɖeke ƒe ŋkɔ ade ahosiwo dome o, negbe exɔ ƒe blaade kple edzivɔ, eye wònye ame si nɔ srɔ̃a gbɔ le nyateƒetoto me.
A widow should ld be enrol not less than years [old] sixty having been of one man [the] wife,
10 Ele be wòakpɔ ɖaseɖiɖi nyui le amewo katã gbɔ le eƒe dɔ nyui wɔwɔ me. Le kpɔɖeŋu me, ame si hea viawo nyuie, lɔ̃a amedzrowɔwɔ, klɔa ame kɔkɔewo ƒe afɔwo, kpena ɖe ame siwo ɖo xaxa me la ŋu, eye wòƒoa eɖokui ɖe dɔ nyui sia dɔ nyui wɔwɔ me.
in works good being borne witness to, if she has brought up children, if she entertained strangers, if saints’ feet she has washed, if to those being oppressed she has imparted relief, if to every work good she has followed after.
11 Mele be woaxɔ ahosi siwo metsi o la ɖe dɔ tɔxɛ wɔla siawo dome o, elabena le ɣeyiɣi kpui aɖe megbe la, woada le adzɔgbe si woɖe na Kristo la dzi, eye woagaɖe srɔ̃.
Younger however widows do refuse; when for they may grow wanton against Christ, to marry they desire

incurring judgment because the first faith they have cast off;
13 Hekpe ɖe esia ŋuti la, ele eme be woava zu ame ɖɔewo, eye woagblẽ woƒe ɣeyiɣi anɔ ameŋunya gblɔm tso aƒe si me yi ekemɛ me, anɔ nu dem ame bubuwo ƒe nya me.
At the same time then also [to be] idle they learn going about house to house. not only then idle, but also gossips and busybodies, speaking [things] not being proper.
14 Eya ta mesusu be enyo na ahosi siwo metsi o la be woagaɖe srɔ̃, adzi viwo, eye woakpɔ woawo ŋutɔ ƒe aƒe dzi. Ekema ame aɖeke mate ŋu agblɔ nya aɖeke ɖe wo ŋuti o.
I want therefore [the] younger [ones] to marry, to bear children, to manage their households, no occasion to give to the [one] opposing of reproach because;
15 Elabena mevɔ̃ be wo dometɔ aɖewo do hamea me, eye Satana kplɔ wo tra mɔe xoxo.
Already for some have turned aside after Satan.
16 Na magaɖo ŋku edzi na wò ake be ele na ahosiwo ƒe ƒometɔwo be woakpɔ wo dzi, eye mele be woaɖe asi le dɔ sia wɔwɔ ŋuti na hamea o. Ekema hamea ate ŋu atsɔ ga si le esi la akpɔ ahosi amemanɔsitɔwo dzii.
If any (faithful or *K*) believing [woman] has [dependent] widows, (she should help *NK(o)*) to them and not should be burdened the church, so that to those [who are] truly widows it may impart relief.
17 Hamedzikpɔla siwo wɔa hadɔ nyuie la dze na bubuteƒe eve, vevietɔ esiwo kua kutri le mawunyagbɔgblɔ kple efiafia me,
The well already ruling elders of double honor should be counted worthy especially those straining in [the] word and [the] teaching;
18 elabena woŋlɔ ɖe mawunya me be, “Mègabla nu na nyitsu ne ele mɔlu tugum o.” Wogagblɔ le teƒe bubu hã be, “Dɔwɔla dze na eƒe fetu.”
Says for the Scripture; An ox treading out grain not you will muzzle; and Worthy [is] the workman of the wages of him.
19 Ne wotsɔ nya ɖe hamedzikpɔla aɖe ŋu la, mègawɔ nya la ŋu dɔ o, negbe le ɖasefo eve alo etɔ̃ ƒe nya nu ko.
Against an elder an accusation not do receive unless only except upon two or three witnesses.
20 Woaka mo na nu vɔ̃ wɔlawo le hame bliboa ŋkume be wòanye kpɔɖeŋu na ame bubuwo.

I earnestly testify before God and (Lord *K*) Christ Jesus and the elect angels that these things you may keep apart from prejudice nothing doing out of partiality.
22 Mègatsi dzi klokloklo le hamemegãtiatia me o. Wò ŋku abu le eƒe nu vɔ̃wo dzi, eye wòawɔ abe ɖe nède eƒe nu vɔ̃wo dzi ene. Lé ɖokuiwò dzadzɛ.
Hands soon on no one do lay nor do share in [the] sins of others, yourself pure do keep.

No longer do drink [only] water, but wine a little do use because of the stomach (of you *K*) and the frequent of you ailments.
24 Ɖo ŋku edzi be ŋutsu aɖewo, hamemegã aɖewo gɔ̃ hã, le nu vɔ̃ wɔm, eye esia le nyanya na ame sia ame. Le nu siawo me la, àte ŋu awɔ nane tso eŋuti. Ke le go bubuwo me la, ʋɔnudrɔ̃gbe la koe ate ŋu aɖe nyateƒe dziŋɔ la ɖe go.
Of some men the sins manifest are going before [them] to judgment; of some however also they appear later.
25 Nenema ke ame sia ame nya ale si hamemegã aɖewo wɔa dɔ nyuie, gake ɣe aɖewo ɣi la, womenya woƒe dɔ nyui wɔwɔwo o va se ɖe ɣeyiɣi didi aɖewo megbe hafi.
Likewise also the works good evident (is *k*) and even those otherwise being to be concealed not (are able. *N(k)O*)
