< Timoteo 1 3 >

1 Enye nyateƒenya be ne ame aɖe di be yeawɔ hamedzikpɔla ƒe dɔ la, etia dɔ nyuitɔ.
This is a faithful saying: someone who seeks to be an overseer desires a good work.
The overseer therefore must be without reproach, the husband of one wife, temperate, sensible, modest, hospitable, good at teaching;
not a drinker, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous;
4 Ele vevie be wòanye ame si kpɔa eƒe aƒe dzi nyuie, eye vi ɖotowo le esi.
one who rules his own house well, having children in subjection with all reverence;
5 (Elabena ne ŋutsu aɖe mate ŋu akpɔ eƒe aƒe sue la dzi be woanɔ agbe nyui o la, aleke wòawɔ akpɔ Mawu ƒe hame dzi?)
(for how could someone who does not know how to rule his own house take care of God’s assembly?)
6 Mele be wòanye ame si ƒe dzimetrɔɣi medidi o, elabena ne menye nenema o la, dada ayɔ eya amea me, eye wòadze anyi le ʋɔnudɔdrɔ̃ si va Abosam dzi la te.
not a new convert, lest being puffed up he fall into the same condemnation as the devil.
7 Ele na hamedzikpɔla be wòakpɔ ɖaseɖiɖi nyui tso hamea godotɔwo hã gbɔ, ale be mage adze vlododo kple Abosam ƒe mɔ me o.
Moreover he must have good testimony from those who are outside, to avoid falling into reproach and the snare of the devil.
8 Nenema kee wòle na subɔlawo hã be woanye ame siwo ŋu bubu le kple nyateƒetɔwo, menye ahatsunolawo kple ame siwo tia viɖe ƒoɖiwo yome o.
Servants, in the same way, must be reverent, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for money,
holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 Ele be woado wo kpɔ gbã, eye ne naneke meku ɖe o ŋu o la, woaɖe mɔ woawɔ subɔla ƒe dɔ.
Let them also first be tested; then let them serve if they are blameless.
11 Ele na wo srɔ̃nyɔnuwo be woanye ame ɖɔŋuɖowo, ke menye ahatsunolawo kple amenyagblɔlawo o, ke boŋ woawɔ nuteƒe le nu sia nu me.
Their wives in the same way must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, and faithful in all things.
12 Subɔlawo nanye srɔ̃ ɖeka tɔwo, eye dzidzɔ kple toɖoɖo nanɔ woƒe aƒewo me.
Let servants be husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
For those who have served well gain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14 Togbɔ be mele mɔ kpɔm be mava mia gbɔ kpuie hã la, mele nu siawo ŋlɔm na mi,
These things I write to you, hoping to come to you shortly,
15 ale be ne nye vava he ɖe megbe hã la, miate ŋu anya ale si miazɔ le Mawu ƒe aƒe si nye Mawu gbagbe la ƒe ha, si lé Mawu ƒe nyateƒe la me ɖe asi sesĩe la me.
but if I wait long, that you may know how men ought to behave themselves in God’s house, which is the assembly of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
Ɖiƒoƒo aɖeke menɔ eŋuti o, eye wòdza le eƒe gbɔgbɔ me. Mawudɔlawo kpɔe, eye wogblɔ mawunya tso eŋuti le dukɔwo dome. Amewo xɔ edzi se le afi sia afi si wòyi, eye wogaxɔe ɖe eƒe ŋutikɔkɔe me le dziƒo.
Without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great: God was revealed in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen by angels, preached among the nations, believed on in the world, and received up in glory.
