< Samuel 1 2 >
1 Hana do gbe ɖa be, “Nye dzi le aseye tsom le Yehowa me; le Yehowa me nye dzo de dzi bobobo. Nye nu ʋu ɖe nye futɔwo ŋu eye medzɔ dzi le wò ɖeɖe la me.
Hannah prayed, and said, “My heart exults in the LORD! My horn is exalted in the LORD. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation.
2 “Ame aɖeke mele kɔkɔe abe Yehowa ene o! Bubu aɖeke megali o kpe ɖe ŋutiwò o. Eye Agakpe aɖeke meli abe míaƒe Mawu ene o.
There is no one as holy as the LORD, for there is no one besides you, nor is there any rock like our God.
“Don’t keep talking so exceedingly proudly. Don’t let arrogance come out of your mouth, for the LORD is a God of knowledge. By him actions are weighed.
4 “Woŋe ŋusẽtɔwo ƒe aŋutrɔwo ke ame beliwo la, etsɔ ŋusẽ bla ali dzi na wo.
“The bows of the mighty men are broken. Those who stumbled are armed with strength.
5 Ame siwo ɖi ƒo tsã la, tsɔ wo ɖokui ɖo awɔbae na nuɖuɖu, ke ame siwo dɔ wu tsã la, dɔ megale wo wum o. Ame si tsi ko tsã la dzi vi adre azɔ, ke ame si si vi adre nɔ la ƒe vidzidɔ lé ayi.
Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread. Those who were hungry are satisfied. Yes, the barren has borne seven. She who has many children languishes.
6 “Yehowa wua ame gagbɔa agbe ame; enana woyia yɔ me eye wògafɔa ame tso yɔ me. (Sheol )
“The LORD kills and makes alive. He brings down to Sheol and brings up. (Sheol )
7 Yehowa ɖoa ahedada ɖa eye eya kee gaɖoa hokpɔkpɔ ɖa; eyae bɔbɔa ame ɖe anyi eye eya kee gadoa ame ɖe dzi.
The LORD makes poor and makes rich. He brings low, he also lifts up.
8 Eyae ɖea ame dahe tso ke me eye wòfɔa hiãtɔ tso afi me enaa zikpui wo ɖe dziɖulawo xa eye wònaa wonyia dome kple bubu ƒe fiazikpui. “Elabena Yehowa tɔe nye anyigba ƒe gɔmeɖokpe; eya dzie wòɖo xexea me gɔme anyi ɖo.
He raises up the poor out of the dust. He lifts up the needy from the dunghill to make them sit with princes and inherit the throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth are the LORD’s. He has set the world on them.
9 Adzɔ eƒe ame kɔkɔewo ƒe afɔ ŋu, ke ɖoɖoe azi le ame vɔ̃ɖiwo nu le viviti me. “Menye kalẽ me ame tona ɖua dzi o;
He will keep the feet of his holy ones, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness; for no man will prevail by strength.
10 ame siwo tso ɖe Yehowa ŋu la, woakaka wo. Dziƒoʋĩtɔ la aɖe gbe ɖe wo dzi tso dziƒo; Yehowa adrɔ̃ ʋɔnu Anyigba ƒe mlɔenu ke hã. “Ana ŋusẽ eƒe fia la eye wòakɔ eƒe amesiamina la ƒe dzo ɖe dzi.”
Those who strive with the LORD shall be broken to pieces. He will thunder against them in the sky. “The LORD will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.”
11 Ale Elkana yi aƒe me le Rama, ke ɖevi la subɔ le Yehowa ŋkume le nunɔla Eli ƒe kpɔkplɔ te.
Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. The child served the LORD before Eli the priest.
12 Azɔ Eli viŋutsuwo nye nu tovo wɔlawo, ame siwo mevɔ̃a Yehowa
Now the sons of Eli were wicked men. They didn’t know the LORD.
13 loo alo dea bubu nunɔlawo ƒe dɔdeasiwo na dukɔ la ŋu o. Ne ame aɖe va sa vɔ la, nunɔla la ƒe dɔla la vana léa gaflo nuetɔ̃ ɖe asi esime vɔsalã la le dzo dzi.
The custom of the priests with the people was that when anyone offered a sacrifice, the priest’s servant came while the meat was boiling, with a fork of three teeth in his hand;
14 Dɔla la tsɔa gaflo la ƒona ɖe gaze, kutu, agba alo nuɖaze si me wole lã la ɖam le la me eye nu sia nu si ke gaflo la tɔ la etsɔnɛ doa goe na nunɔla. Aleae wowɔna le Silo ɖe Israelvi ɖe sia ɖe si vaa afi ma la ŋuti.
and he stabbed it into the pan, or kettle, or cauldron, or pot. The priest took all that the fork brought up for himself. They did this to all the Israelites who came there to Shiloh.
15 Gawu la, hafi woatɔ dzo lãmia la nunɔla la ƒe dɔla vana gblɔna na ame si le vɔ la sam la be, “Tsɔ lã la ƒe ɖe na nunɔlaa be wòame elabena maxɔ lã ɖaɖa le asiwò o negbe mumua ko.”
Yes, before they burnt the fat, the priest’s servant came, and said to the man who sacrificed, “Give meat to roast for the priest; for he will not accept boiled meat from you, but raw.”
16 Ne ame si le vɔ la sam gblɔ be, “Àte ŋu atsɔ lã si dze ŋuwò, gake ele be woatɔ dzo lãmi la gbã abe ale si woɖoe da ɖi ene” la, subɔla la gblɔna be, “Ao, ne mèɖe asi le eŋu nam fifi laa o la, matsɔe sesẽtɔe!”
If the man said to him, “Let the fat be burnt first, and then take as much as your soul desires;” then he would say, “No, but you shall give it to me now; and if not, I will take it by force.”
The sin of the young men was very great before the LORD; for the men despised the LORD’s offering.
18 Ke Samuel ya subɔna le Yehowa ŋkume, enye ɖevi si doa aklala biɖibiɖi ƒe kɔmewu.
But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, clothed with a linen ephod.
19 Dadaa tɔa awu ʋlaya sue aɖe nɛ ƒe sia ƒe ne eya kple srɔ̃a gbɔna vɔsaƒe.
Moreover his mother made him a little robe, and brought it to him from year to year when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
20 Eli yraa Elkana kple srɔ̃a Hana gblɔna be, “Yehowa nana nyɔnu sia nadzi viwo na wò ne woaxɔ ɖe esi wòdo gbe ɖa bia gagbugbɔ tsɔ na Yehowa la teƒe.” Ale wodzona yina ɖe wo de.
Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, “May the LORD give you offspring from this woman for the petition which was asked of the LORD.” Then they went to their own home.
The LORD visited Hannah, and she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. The child Samuel grew before the LORD.
22 Eli zu amegãɖeɖi aɖe azɔ gake enya nu siwo katã viawo nɔa wɔwɔm ɖe Israel blibo la ŋu. Le kpɔɖeŋu me, enya be ye viŋutsuwo nɔ ahasi wɔm kple ɖetugbi siwo wɔa subɔsubɔdɔwo le Agbadɔ la me.
Now Eli was very old; and he heard all that his sons did to all Israel, and how that they slept with the women who served at the door of the Tent of Meeting.
23 Egblɔ na viawo be, “Nu ka ta miele nu vɔ̃ɖi sia wɔm? Ame sia ame le nu ƒom le miaƒe agbe vlo nɔnɔ ŋu nam.
He said to them, “Why do you do such things? For I hear of your evil dealings from all these people.
24 Nya siwo sem mele tso mia ŋu la, menya sena kura o. Miele Yehowa ƒe amewo kplɔm de nu vɔ̃ me.
No, my sons; for it is not a good report that I hear! You make the LORD’s people disobey.
25 Ne ame aɖe wɔ nu vɔ̃ ɖe nɔvia amegbetɔ ŋu la, Mawu adrɔ̃ ʋɔnui. Ke ne ame aɖe wɔ nu vɔ̃ ɖe Yehowa ŋu la, ame kae aɖe kuku ɖe enu?” Togbɔ be wo fofo gbe nya na wo alea hã la, womeɖo toe o elabena Yehowa ɖo be yeawu wo.
If one man sins against another, God will judge him; but if a man sins against the LORD, who will intercede for him?” Notwithstanding, they didn’t listen to the voice of their father, because the LORD intended to kill them.
26 Samuel, ɖevi sue la, nɔ tsitsim ɖe edzi, enye ame sia ame ƒe lɔlɔ̃tɔ eye eƒe nu nyo Yehowa hã ŋu.
The child Samuel grew on, and increased in favour both with the LORD and also with men.
27 Gbe ɖeka la, Mawu ƒe ame aɖe va Eli gbɔ eye wògblɔ nya siawo, siwo tso Yehowa gbɔ la nɛ. “Ɖe nyemeɖe nye ŋusẽ fia esi Israelviwo nye kluviwo le Egiptenyigba dzi oa?
A man of God came to Eli and said to him, “The LORD says, ‘Did I reveal myself to the house of your father when they were in Egypt in bondage to Pharaoh’s house?
28 Ɖe nyemetia mia tɔgbi Levi tso Israel towo katã dome be wòanye nunɔla nam, be wòasa vɔ le nye vɔsamlekpui dzi, wòatsɔ nu ʋeʋĩ ado dzudzɔ nam eye wòado nunɔlawo ƒe awu ne ele subɔyem oa? Eye ɖe nyemetsɔa vɔsanuwo naa mi nunɔlawo oa?
Didn’t I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me? Didn’t I give to the house of your father all the offerings of the children of Israel made by fire?
Why do you kick at my sacrifice and at my offering, which I have commanded in my habitation, and honour your sons above me, to make yourselves fat with the best of all the offerings of Israel my people?’
30 “Eya ta Yehowa, Israel ƒe Mawu la gblɔ be, ‘Medo ŋugbe be wò kple fofowò ƒe aƒe asubɔ le ŋkunye me tegbee.’ Ke azɔ la Yehowa be, ‘Esia nete ɖa xaa tso gbɔnye! Ame siwo de bubu ŋutinye la, made bubu wo ŋu, ke ame siwo do vlom la, woaɖu ŋukpe.
“Therefore the LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘I said indeed that your house and the house of your father should walk before me forever.’ But now the LORD says, ‘Far be it from me; for those who honour me I will honour, and those who despise me will be cursed.
31 Ɣeyiɣi la gbɔna esi maɖe wò kple fofowò ƒe aƒe ƒe ŋusẽ dzi akpɔtɔ ale be amegãɖeɖi aɖeke manɔ wò ƒomea me o,

You will see the affliction of my habitation, in all the wealth which I will give Israel. There shall not be an old man in your house forever.
Ale wò dzidzimeviwo katã aku le woƒe ɖekakpui dzodzoe me.
The man of yours whom I don’t cut off from my altar will consume your eyes and grieve your heart. All the increase of your house will die in the flower of their age.
34 “‘Azɔ nu si ava dzɔ ɖe viwò ŋutsu eveawo, siwo nye Hofni kple Finehas dzi anye dzesi na wò; wo ame evea katã woaku le ŋkeke ɖeka dzi.
This will be the sign to you that will come on your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: in one day they will both die.
I will raise up a faithful priest for myself who will do according to that which is in my heart and in my mind. I will build him a sure house. He will walk before my anointed forever.
36 Ekema ame sia ame si susɔ ɖe wò ƒome la me ava de ta agu ɖe eŋkume abia klosaloga ɖeka alo abolo kakɛ aɖe kple kukuɖeɖe be, “De nunɔla ƒe dɔ aɖe asi nam ale be mate ŋu akpɔ nu vi aɖe aɖu.”’”
It will happen that everyone who is left in your house will come and bow down to him for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread, and will say, “Please put me into one of the priests’ offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.”’”
