< Samuel 1 19 >
1 Azɔ la, Saul gblɔ na eŋumewo kple via Yonatan be woato mɔ aɖe nu awu David. Ke le lɔlɔ̃ deto si nɔ Yonatan kple David dome ta la,
And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that he would kill David. But Jonathan the son of Saul delighted greatly in David.
2 Yonatan gblɔ ɖoɖo si fofoa wɔ ɖe eŋu la nɛ. Egblɔ nɛ be, “Etsɔ ŋdi la, ele be nàdi teƒe aɖe si nàbe ɖo le gbedzi.
And Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee; now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself in the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:
3 Mana be nye kple fofonye míava afi ma eye maƒo nu nɛ tso ŋuwò. Ekema magblɔ nya sia nya si mase tso egbɔ la na wò.”
And I will go out and stand by the side of my father in the field where thou art, and I myself will speak of thee to my father; and I will see what it is, and I will tell thee.
4 Le ŋufɔke ƒe ŋdi esi Yonatan nɔ dze ɖom kple fofoa la, ekafu David nɛ eye wòɖe kuku nɛ be wòadzudzɔ ta me vɔ̃ ɖoɖo ɖe eŋu. Yonatan ɖe kuku na fofoa be, “David mewɔ nu vɔ̃ aɖeke ɖe ŋuwò kpɔ o; ekpena ɖe ŋuwò ɣe sia ɣi le mɔ sia mɔ si wòate ŋui la dzi.
And Jonathan spoke favorably of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; since he hath not sinned against thee, and because his deeds are very good for thee;
5 Ɖe nèŋlɔ ɣeyiɣi si wòtsɔ eƒe agbe ke, hewu Goliat kple ale si Yehowa to nu sia me he dziɖuɖu gã aɖe vɛ na Israel la bea? Èkpɔ dzidzɔ le nyadzɔdzɔ sia ŋu ɣe ma ɣi me, nu ka ta nàwui azɔ le esime mewɔ nu vɔ̃ aɖeke o? Naneke meli si ta nàwui ɖo o.”
And he did put his life in his hand, and he slew the Philistine, and the Lord wrought a great salvation for all Israel; thou sawest it, and wast rejoiced: wherefore then wilt thou commit sin on innocent blood, by slaying David without a cause?
6 Mlɔeba la, Saul lɔ̃ ɖe Yonatan ƒe nya siawo dzi eye wòka atam be, “Zi ale si Yehowa li la, nyemawu David o.”
And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul swore, As the Lord liveth, he shall not be put to death.
7 Yonatan yɔ David emegbe eye wòka nya si dzɔ la ta nɛ. Ekplɔ David yi Saul gbɔ eye wo dome ganɔ abe tsã ene.
And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan told him all these words. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.
And the war occurred again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and smote them with a great defeat, and they fled from before him.
9 Ke gbɔgbɔ vɔ̃ aɖe tso Yehowa gbɔ va Saul dzi, esime wònɔ eƒe aƒe me eye eƒe akplɔ nɔ esi. Esime David nɔ kasaŋku ƒom la.
And the evil spirit from the Lord came upon Saul, and he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand; and David was playing with his hand.
10 Saul di be yeatsɔ yeƒe akplɔ amimii ɖe gli ŋu, ke David de axa nɛ esime Saul da akplɔ la wòyi gli la me. Le zã ma me la, David si dzo.
And Saul sought to strike David through with the spear even to the wall; but he slipped away from before Saul, who struck the spear into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.
11 Saul ɖo asrafowo ɖa be woadzɔ David ƒe aƒe ŋu ne edo go tso eƒe xɔ me ŋdi ko la, woawui. Ke Mixal gblɔ na srɔ̃a David be “Ne mèsi dzo le zã sia me o la, àzu nu kuku etsɔ ŋdi.”
But Saul sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning; and Michal his wife told it to David, saying, If thou save not thy life this night, tomorrow thou wilt be put to death.
12 Ale Mixal kpe ɖe srɔ̃a ŋu wòɖi to fesre to hesi.
And Michal let David down through the window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
13 Mixal tsɔ ametikpakpɛ aɖe da ɖe David ƒe aba dzi, eƒe ta nɔ suɖui si wowɔ kple gbɔ̃fu la dzi eye wòtsyɔ abadzivɔwo nɛ.
And Michal took an image, and put it in the bed, and a pillow of goats' hair she put for its head to rest on, and covered it with a cloth.
14 Esi asrafoawo va be woalé David ayi na Saul la, Mixal gblɔ na wo be David dze dɔ eye mate ŋu afɔ o.
And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.
15 Saul gblɔ ɖo ɖa be woakɔ David kple eƒe abati la vɛ ale be yeate ŋu awui.
And Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may put him to death.
16 Ke esi wova be woakɔe kple abatia la, wokpɔ be ametikpakpɛ koe nɔ abatia dzi eye gbɔ̃fuvɔ le eƒe tagbe.
And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for its head to rest on.
17 Saul bia via Mixal be, “Nu ka ta nèblem eye nèna nye futɔ si?” Mixal ɖo eŋu be, “Ɖe kokoko wòle nam be mable wò elabena srɔ̃nye gblɔ nam be ne nyemekpe ɖe ye ŋu o la, yeawum.”
And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou thus deceived me, and sent away my enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal said to Saul, He said unto me, Let me go away: why should I kill thee?
18 Ale David si yi Rama ɖakpɔ Samuel eye wògblɔ nu siwo katã Saul wɔ ɖe eŋu la nɛ eye Samuel kplɔ David yi Nayɔt.
So David fled, and escaped, and came unto Samuel to Ramah, and he told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and remained in Nayoth.
19 Esi Saul se be David nɔ Nayɔt le Rama la,
And it was told unto Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Nayoth near Ramah.
20 eɖo asrafowo ɖa be woalée vɛ. Ke esi woɖo afi ma eye wokpɔ Samuel kple nyagblɔɖila bubuwo nɔ nya gblɔm ɖi la, Mawu ƒe Gbɔgbɔ va wo dzi eye woawo hã de asi nyagbɔgblɔɖi me.
And Saul sent messengers to take David; and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as superintendent over them: then came upon the messengers of Saul the spirit of God, and they also prophesied.
21 Esi Saul se nya si dzɔ la, eɖo asrafo bubuwo ɖa, ke woawo hã gblɔ nya ɖi! Nu ma ke dzɔ zi etɔ̃lia hã.
And when it was told to Saul, he sent other messengers, and these prophesied likewise. And Saul sent again messengers the third time, and these also prophesied.
22 Azɔ Saul ŋutɔ yi Rama eye esi wòɖo vudo la gbɔ le Seku la, ebia be “Afi ka Samuel kple David le?” Ame aɖe gblɔ nɛ be, “Wole Nayɔt le Rama.”
Then went he himself also to Ramah, and came as far as the great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And some one said, Behold, they are at Nayoth near Ramah.
23 Ke esi wòyina Nayɔt la, Mawu ƒe gbɔgbɔ va eya hã dzi eye eya hã de asi nyagbɔgblɔɖi me!
And he went thither to Nayoth near Ramah: and there came upon him also the Spirit of God, and he went on, and prophesied as he went, until he came to Nayoth near Ramah.
24 Edze eƒe awuwo hetsi amama to ŋkeke kple zã blibo la me eye wògblɔ nya ɖi kple Samuel ƒe nyagblɔɖilawo. Eŋumewo tsi yaa eye wobia be, “Ɖe Saul hã le nyagblɔɖilawo domea?”
And he also stripped off his clothes, and he also prophesied himself before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore people are in the habit of saying, Is Saul too among the prophets?
