< Samuel 1 11 >

Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh-gilead. And all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.
2 Nahas ɖo eŋu be, “Ekema mawɔ nu ɖeka; maho mia dometɔ ɖe sia ɖe ƒe ɖusimeŋku abe gbɔ̃ɖiɖi Israel dukɔ blibo la ene!”
And Nahash the Ammonite said to them, On this condition will I make it with you, that all your right eyes be put out, and I will lay it for a reproach upon all Israel.
3 Yabes ƒe ametsitsiwo ɖo eŋu be, “Na ŋkeke adre mí ne míadɔ ame aɖo ɖe Israelnyigba blibo la dzi. Ne mía nɔviwo mava kpe ɖe mía ŋu o la, ekama míalɔ̃ ɖe wò tameɖoɖo la dzi.”
And the elders of Jabesh said to him, Give us seven days' respite that we may send messengers to all the borders of Israel, and then, if there be none to save us, we will come out to thee.
4 Esi dɔla aɖe va Gibea, Saul ƒe du me eye wògblɔ Yabestɔwo ƒe xaxa la ŋu nya na wo la, ame sia ame de asi avifafa me.
Then the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul, and spoke these words in the ears of the people. And all the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

And, behold, Saul came following the oxen out of the field, and Saul said, What troubles the people that they weep? And they told him the words of the men of Jabesh.
6 Mawu ƒe Gbɔgbɔ ɖiɖi ɖe Saul dzi enumake eye wòdo dɔmedzoe vevie.
And the Spirit of God came mightily upon Saul when he heard those words, and his anger was greatly kindled.
And he took a yoke of oxen, and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the borders of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, Whoever does not come forth behind Saul and behind Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen. And the dread of Jehovah fell on the people, and they came out as one man.
8 Saul xlẽ wo le Bezek eye Israelviwo le ame akpe alafa etɔ̃ kpe ɖe ame akpe blaetɔ̃ siwo tso Yuda la ŋu.
And he numbered them in Bezek, and the sons of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.

And they said to the messengers who came, Thus ye shall say to the men of Jabesh-gilead, Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, ye shall have deliverance. And the messengers came and told the men of Jabesh, and they were glad.
10 Ale Yabestɔwo gblɔ na woƒe futɔwo be, “Míava mia gbɔ etsɔ eye miawɔ nu sia nu si dze mia ŋu la mí.”
Therefore the men of Jabesh said, Tomorrow we will come out to you, and ye shall do with us all that seems good to you.
11 Saul va do ŋdi kanya kple eƒe aʋakɔ si wòma ɖe aʋalɔgo etɔ̃ me. Edze Amonitɔwo dzi kpata eye wòwu wo tso ŋdi ma va se ɖe ŋdɔ. Ame siwo tsi agbe la kaka ale gbegbe be wo dometɔ eve aɖeke menɔ teƒe ɖeka o.
And it was so on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies. And they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and smote the Ammonites until the heat of the day. And it came to pass, that those who remained were scattered so that not two of them were left together.
12 Ameawo bia Samuel kple ɣli be, “Afi ka ame siwo be Saul manyo na mí o la le? Mikplɔ wo va afi sia ne míawu wo!”
And the people said to Samuel, Who is he who said, Shall Saul reign over us? Bring the men that we may put them to death.
13 Ke Saul gblɔ be, “Womawu ame aɖeke egbe o elabena Yehowa ɖe Israel egbe!”
And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day, for today Jehovah has wrought deliverance in Israel.
14 Samuel gblɔ na ameawo be, “Mina mí katã míayi Gilgal eye míada asi ɖe Saul dzi abe míaƒe fia ene.”
Then Samuel said to the people, Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.
15 Ale woyi Gilgal eye woɖo Saul fiae le Yehowa ŋkume. Wosa akpedavɔ na Yehowa eye Saul kple Israelviwo katã kpɔ dzidzɔ ŋutɔŋutɔ.
And all the people went to Gilgal. And there they made Saul king before Jehovah in Gilgal, and there they offered sacrifices of peace offerings before Jehovah, and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
