< Petro 1 2 >
Having put aside, then, all evil, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envyings, and all evil speakings,
2 Eye abe vidzĩwo ene la, midi gbɔgbɔmenotsi tsimatɔ vevie, ale be to esia me la, miatsi le miaƒe ɖeɖe la me
as new-born babes the word's pure milk desire ye, that in it ye may grow,
3 azɔ esi mieɖɔe kpɔ, henya be Aƒetɔ la nyo.
if so be ye did taste that the Lord [is] gracious,
Amewo gbee, gake Mawu tiae hede bubu gã aɖe eŋu.
to whom coming — a living stone — by men, indeed, having been disapproved of, but with God choice, precious,
5 Ke miawo hã, abe kpe gbagbewo ene la, wotsɔ mi le gbɔgbɔmegbedoxɔ tum. Gawu la, mienye eƒe nunɔla kɔkɔewo, ame siwo asa gbɔgbɔmevɔ siwo dze Mawu ŋu la to Yesu Kristo ƒe avuléle dzi.
and ye yourselves, as living stones, are built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
6 Elabena wogblɔ le mawunya me be, “Kpɔ ɖa mele kpe aɖe ɖom ɖe Zion, dzogoedzikpe si wotia, eye asixɔxɔ le eŋu, ame si atsɔ eƒe mɔkpɔkpɔ ada ɖe edzi la, ŋu mele ekpe ge akpɔ gbeɖe o.”
Wherefore, also, it is contained in the Writing: 'Lo, I lay in Zion a chief corner-stone, choice, precious, and he who is believing on him may not be put to shame;'
to you, then, who are believing [is] the preciousness; and to the unbelieving, a stone that the builders disapproved of, this one did become for the head of a corner,
8 kpe, “Si nana amewo klia nu, eye wònye agakpe si nana wodzea anyi,” Woklia nu, elabena wogbe toɖoɖo nyanyui la, esi hã nye nu si woɖo wo ɖi na.
and a stone of stumbling and a rock of offence — who are stumbling at the word, being unbelieving, — to which also they were set;
9 Ke miawo la, mienye ame tiatiawo, fia la ƒe nunɔlawo, dukɔ kɔkɔe, ame siwo nye Mawu ŋutɔ tɔ, be miaɖe gbeƒã ame si yɔ mi tso viviti me va eƒe nukukekeli me la ƒe kafukafu.
and ye [are] a choice race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired, that the excellences ye may shew forth of Him who out of darkness did call you to His wondrous light;
who [were] once not a people, and [are] now the people of God; who had not found kindness, and now have found kindness.
11 Nɔvi veviwo, mele eƒom ɖe mia nu be abe amedzrowo kple mɔzɔlawo le xexea me ene la, be mite ɖa xaa tso ŋutilã ƒe nudzodzro vɔ̃ siwo wɔa aʋa kple miaƒe luʋɔ la gbɔ.
Beloved, I call upon [you], as strangers and sojourners, to keep from the fleshly desires, that war against the soul,
12 Minɔ agbe dzadzɛ le ame siwo menye Yudatɔwo o la dome, ale be togbɔ be wotsoa mia nu be miewɔ vɔ̃ hã la, woakpɔ miaƒe dɔ nyuiwo, eye woakafu Mawu le ŋkeke si dzi wòava asrã mí akpɔ.
having your behaviour among the nations right, that in that which they speak against you as evil-doers, of the good works having beheld, they may glorify God in a day of inspection.
13 Le Aƒetɔ la ta la, mibɔbɔ mia ɖokuiwo na dziɖuɖu si woɖo anyi ɖe amegbetɔwo dome, eɖanye fia la, abe ŋusẽtɔ kɔkɔtɔ kekeake ene,
Be subject, then, to every human creation, because of the Lord, whether to a king, as the highest,
14 alo mɔmefia siwo woɖo ɖa be woahe to na nu gbegblẽ wɔlawo, eye woakafu nu nyui wɔlawo o.
whether to governors, as to those sent through him, for punishment, indeed, of evil-doers, and a praise of those doing good;
15 Elabena Mawu ƒe lɔlɔ̃nu wònye be to nu nyui wɔwɔ me la, miatsi bometsilawo ƒe numanyamanya ƒe nuƒowo nu.
because, so is the will of God, doing good, to put to silence the ignorance of the foolish men;
16 Minɔ agbe abe ablɔɖeviwo ene, gake migawɔ miaƒe ablɔɖe la ŋu dɔ abe mɔɖeɖe na nu vɔ̃ wɔwɔ ene o; minɔ agbe abe Mawu ƒe dɔlawo ene.
as free, and not having the freedom as the cloak of the evil, but as servants of God;
17 Mide bubu ame sia ame ŋu, milɔ̃ hadede kple xɔsetɔwo, mivɔ̃ Mawu, eye mide bubu fia la ŋu.
to all give ye honour; the brotherhood love ye; God fear ye; the king honour ye.
18 Mi kluviwo la, mibɔbɔ mia ɖokuiwo na miaƒe aƒetɔwo le bubudede ame ŋu blibo me, menye na esiwo nyo, eye wobua mia ŋuti ɖeɖe ko o, ke boŋ na esiwo nye ŋutasẽlawo hã.
The domestics! be subjecting yourselves in all fear to the masters, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the cross;
for this [is] gracious, if because of conscience toward God any one doth endure sorrows, suffering unrighteously;
for what renown [is it], if sinning and being buffeted, ye do endure [it]? but if, doing good and suffering [for it], ye do endure, this [is] gracious with God,
21 Esia ta woyɔ mi vɛ ɖo, elabena Kristo kpe fu ɖe mia ta, eye wògblẽ kpɔɖeŋu ɖi na mi, be miadze eyome.
for to this ye were called, because Christ also did suffer for you, leaving to you an example, that ye may follow his steps,
22 “Elabena mewɔ vɔ̃ aɖeke o, eye womekpɔ alakpa aɖeke le eƒe nu me o.”
who did not commit sin, nor was guile found in his mouth,
23 Esi wodzui la, meɖo eŋu o, esi wòkpe fu la, meƒo fi de ame o, ke boŋ etsɔ eɖokui de asi na ame si drɔ̃a ʋɔnu dzɔdzɔe.
who being reviled — was not reviling again, suffering — was not threatening, and was committing himself to Him who is judging righteously,
24 Ke eya ŋutɔ tsɔ míaƒe nu vɔ̃wo ɖe eƒe ŋutilã me le ati ŋuti, ale be míaku na nu vɔ̃, eye míanɔ agbe na dzɔdzɔenyenye, eye to eƒe abi si wòxɔ me la, míekpɔ dɔyɔyɔ.
who our sins himself did bear in his body, upon the tree, that to the sins having died, to the righteousness we may live; by whose stripes ye were healed,
25 Elabena mienɔ abe alẽ siwo tra mɔ la ene, ke azɔ la, mietrɔ gbɔ va Alẽkplɔla la kple miaƒe luʋɔwo dzi kpɔla la gbɔ.
for ye were as sheep going astray, but ye turned back now to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
