< Fiawo 1 16 >

1 Le ɣeyiɣi sia me la, Yehowa ƒe gbe va na Fia Baasa to Nyagblɔɖila Yehu dzi be,
Yahweh’s word came to Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha, saying,
2 “Meɖe wò tso ke me be, nàɖu fia ɖe nye dukɔ Israel dzi. Ke èto Yeroboam ƒe nu vɔ̃ wɔwɔ ƒe mɔwo dzi. Èna nye dukɔ, Israel wɔ nu vɔ̃ eye wodo dziku nam kple woƒe nu vɔ̃wo,
“Because I exalted you out of the dust and made you prince over my people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam and have made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins,
3 eya ta azɔ la, matsrɔ̃ wò kple wò ƒometɔwo abe ale si metsrɔ̃ Yeroboam ƒe dzidzimeviwo ene.
behold, I will utterly sweep away Baasha and his house; and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
4 Wò ƒometɔ siwo aku le dua me la, avuwo aɖu wo eye esiwo aku ɖe gbedzi la, akagawo aɖu wo.”
The dogs will eat Baasha’s descendants who die in the city; and he who dies of his in the field, the birds of the sky will eat.”
5 Woŋlɔ nu bubu ɖe sia ɖe si Baasa wɔ kple eƒe kalẽwɔwɔwo ɖe Israel fiawo ƒe ŋutinyagbalẽ me.
Now the rest of the acts of Baasha, and what he did, and his might, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
6 Baasa ku woɖii ɖe Tirza eye via Ela ɖu fia ɖe eteƒe.
Baasha slept with his fathers, and was buried in Tirzah; and Elah his son reigned in his place.
7 Nyagblɔɖila Yehu gblɔ nya si tso Yehowa gbɔ, tso Baasa kple eƒe ƒometɔwo ŋu le nu vɔ̃ siwo Baasa wɔ ɖe Yehowa ŋu ta. Edo dɔmedzoe na Yehowa, menye le eya ŋutɔ ƒe nu vɔ̃ ɖeɖe ko ta, abe ale si Yeroboam wɔ le eŋgɔ ene o, ke boŋ le ale si wòwu Yeroboam ƒe ƒometɔwo katã hã ta.
Moreover Yahweh’s word came by the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha and against his house, both because of all the evil that he did in Yahweh’s sight, to provoke him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam, and because he struck him.
8 Ela, Baasa ƒe viŋutsu dze fiaɖuɖu gɔme le Yuda fia Asa ƒe fiaɖuɖu ƒe ƒe blaeve-vɔ-adelia me. Eɖu fia ƒe eve ko.
In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah, Elah the son of Baasha began to reign over Israel in Tirzah for two years.
9 Aʋafia Zimri, ame si kpɔa fia la ƒe tasiaɖamwo ƒe afã dzi la ɖo nugbe ɖe Fia Ela ŋu. Gbe ɖeka la, esi Fia Ela mu aha afã kple afã le Arza, ame si nye fiasãdzikpɔla ƒe aƒe me le Tirza, si nye fiadu la me la,
His servant Zimri, captain of half his chariots, conspired against him. Now he was in Tirzah, drinking himself drunk in the house of Arza, who was over the household in Tirzah;
10 Zimri zɔ tẽe ɖatɔ nue ƒu anyi eye wòku. Nya sia dzɔ le Yuda fia Asa ƒe fiaɖuɖu ƒe ƒe blaeve-vɔ-adrelia me. Zimri tsɔ eɖokui ɖo Israel fiae ɖe eteƒe.
and Zimri went in and struck him and killed him in the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, and reigned in his place.
11 Ewu Fia Baasa ƒe ƒometɔwo katã enumake eye megblẽ ŋutsu ɖeka pɛ gɔ̃ hã ɖi o. Ewu eƒe ƒometɔ siwo mete ɖe eŋu tututu o kple exɔlɔ̃wo gɔ̃ hã.
When he began to reign, as soon as he sat on his throne, he attacked all the house of Baasha. He didn’t leave him a single one who urinates on a wall among his relatives or his friends.
12 Baasa ƒe ƒometɔ siawo wuwu na nya si Yehowa gblɔ da ɖi to Nyagblɔɖila Yehu dzi la va eme.
Thus Zimri destroyed all the house of Baasha, according to Yahweh’s word which he spoke against Baasha by Jehu the prophet,
13 Dzɔgbevɔ̃enya sia dzɔ le Baasa kple via Ela ƒe nu vɔ̃wo ta elabena wokplɔ Israel de legbawo subɔsubɔ me eye Yehowa do dɔmedzoe ŋutɔŋutɔ.
for all the sins of Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, which they sinned and with which they made Israel to sin, to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities.
14 Woŋlɔ nu mamlɛawo tso Ela ƒe fiaɖuɖu ŋu ɖe Israel fiawo ƒe ŋutinyagbalẽ me.
Now the rest of the acts of Elah, and all that he did, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
15 Le Asa, Yuda fia ƒe fiaɖuɖu ƒe ƒe blaeve-vɔ-adrelia me la, Zimri ɖu fia le Tirza ŋkeke adre. Aʋakɔ la ƒu asaɖa anyi ɖe Gibeton si nye Filistitɔwo ƒe du aɖe la xa.
In the twenty-seventh year of Asa king of Judah, Zimri reigned seven days in Tirzah. Now the people were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.
16 Esime Israelviwo se le asaɖa la me be Zimri ɖo nugbe ɖe fia la ŋu eye wòwui la, wotsɔ Omri, woƒe aʋafia la ɖo fiae gbe ma gbe ke le asaɖa la me.
The people who were encamped heard that Zimri had conspired, and had also killed the king. Therefore all Israel made Omri, the captain of the army, king over Israel that day in the camp.
17 Ale Omri kplɔ aʋakɔ si nɔ Gibeton la eye wòɖe to ɖe Tirza si nye Israel ƒe fiadu.
Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Israel with him, and they besieged Tirzah.
18 Esi Zimri kpɔ be futɔwo xɔ Tirza la, eyi fiasã la me hetɔ dzoe ɖe eɖokui dzi eye wòku ɖe dzo la me.
When Zimri saw that the city was taken, he went into the fortified part of the king’s house and burned the king’s house over him with fire, and died,
19 Esia va eme elabena eya hã wɔ nu vɔ̃ abe Yeroboam ene. Esubɔ legbawo eye wòkplɔ Israel de nu vɔ̃ me.
for his sins which he sinned in doing that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, in walking in the way of Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did to make Israel to sin.
20 Woŋlɔ Zimri ƒe ŋutinya mamlɛa kple eƒe nugbeɖoɖo ɖe Israel fiawo ƒe ŋutinyagbalẽ me.
Now the rest of the acts of Zimri, and his treason that he committed, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
21 Azɔ la, Israel fiaɖuƒe la ma ɖe akpa eve me; akpa ɖeka nɔ Aʋafia Omri dzi eye akpa evelia nɔ Tibni, Ginat ƒe vi dzi.
Then the people of Israel were divided into two parts: half of the people followed Tibni the son of Ginath, to make him king, and half followed Omri.
22 Ke Aʋafia Omri ɖu Tibni dzi. Wowu Tibni ale be ame aɖeke megaʋli fiaɖuƒe la kple Omri o.
But the people who followed Omri prevailed against the people who followed Tibni the son of Ginath; so Tibni died, and Omri reigned.
23 Yuda fia, Asa ɖu fia ƒe blaetɔ̃-vɔ̃-ɖekɛ esime Omri de asi fiaɖuɖu me le Israel. Omri ɖu fia ƒe ade le Tirza.
In the thirty-first year of Asa king of Judah, Omri began to reign over Israel for twelve years. He reigned six years in Tirzah.
24 Eƒle Samaria togbɛ la le Semer si hena klosalo kilogram blaadre eye wòtso du ɖe edzi. Etsɔ Semer, ame si si wòƒle togbɛ la le la ƒe ŋkɔ na du la be Samaria.
He bought the hill Samaria of Shemer for two talents of silver; and he built on the hill, and called the name of the city which he built, Samaria, after the name of Shemer, the owner of the hill.
25 Ke Omri nye nu vɔ̃ wɔla wu fia siwo katã do ŋgɔ nɛ.
Omri did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight, and dealt wickedly above all who were before him.
26 Esubɔ legbawo abe ale si Yeroboam wɔ ene eye wòkplɔ Israel de legbasubɔsubɔ me.
For he walked in all the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sins with which he made Israel to sin, to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger with their vanities.
27 Woŋlɔ Omri ƒe ŋutinya ɖe Israel fiawo ƒe ŋutinyagbalẽ me.
Now the rest of the acts of Omri which he did, and his might that he showed, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
28 Esi Omri ku la, woɖii ɖe Samaria eye Via ŋutsu Ahab zu fia ɖe eteƒe.
So Omri slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria; and Ahab his son reigned in his place.
29 Yuda fia, Asa ɖu fia ƒe blaetɔ̃-vɔ-enyi esime Ahab zu fia ɖe Israel dzi. Ahab ɖu fia ƒe blaene-vɔ-eve.
In the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, Ahab the son of Omri began to reign over Israel. Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years.
30 Ahab wɔ nu vɔ̃ wu fofoa Omri gɔ̃ hã; ewɔ nu vɔ̃ wu Israel fia ɖe sia ɖe!
Ahab the son of Omri did that which was evil in Yahweh’s sight above all that were before him.
31 Hekpe ɖe esiawo ŋu la, eɖe Yezebel, Sidon fia Etbaal ƒe vinyɔnu eye wòde asi Baal subɔsubɔ me.
As if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he took as wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal and worshiped him.
32 Gbã la, etu gbedoxɔ kple vɔsamlekpui na Baal ɖe Samaria.
He raised up an altar for Baal in the house of Baal, which he had built in Samaria.
33 Emegbe la, Ahab li aƒeli bubuwo eye wòwɔ nu vɔ̃ bubu geɖe siwo gado dɔmedzoe na Yehowa, Israel ƒe Mawu la wu Israel fia bubu siwo katã do ŋgɔ nɛ.
Ahab made the Asherah; and Ahab did more yet to provoke Yahweh, the God of Israel, to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him.
34 Le esime Ahab nɔ fia ɖum la, ŋutsu aɖe tso Betel, ame si ŋkɔe nye Hiel la gbugbɔ Yeriko tu. Esi wòɖo gɔmeɖokpea la, Via ŋutsu tsitsitɔ, Abiram, ku eye esi wòwu enu hede agbowo dua ƒe gliwo nu la, Via ŋutsu suetɔ, Segub, hã ku. Esia va eme le fiƒode si Yehowa da ɖe du la dzi abe ale si Yosua, Nun ƒe vi la gblɔ ene la nu.
In his days Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho. He laid its foundation with the loss of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to Yahweh’s word, which he spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.
