< Korintotɔwo 1 8 >
1 Miaƒe biabia bubu hã ku ɖe nuɖuɖu siwo woɖa tsɔ sa vɔe na legbawo. Enye nyateƒe be nunyalawoe mí katã míenye. Nunya hea ɖokuidodoɖedzi vanɛ, ke lɔlɔ̃ tua amewo ɖo.
And concerning the things sacrificed to idols, we have known that we all have knowledge: knowledge puffs up, but love builds up;
2 Ne ame aɖe susu be yenya nane la, nenyae be menya nu abe ale si wòle be wòanyae la ene o.
and if anyone thinks to know anything, he has not yet known anything according as it is required to know;
3 Ame si lɔ̃a Mawu le anukware me la, eyae Mawu hã nyana.
and if anyone loves God, this one has been known by Him.
4 Mina míatrɔ ɖe nya la gbɔ azɔ. Eyae nye, enyo be kristotɔ naɖu nu si woɖa na trɔ̃wo kple legbawo loo alo menyo be wòaɖui oa? Mí katã míenya kɔtɛe be, “Mawu gbagbe ɖeka pɛ koe li” eye “Legbawo la, womenye naneke kura le xexe sia me o.”
Concerning the eating then of the things sacrificed to idols, we have known that an idol [is] nothing in the world, and that there is no other God except one;
5 Ke ne Mawu bubuwo hã li, le dziƒo alo anyigba (abe ale si “mawu” geɖewo kple “aƒetɔ” geɖewo li ene la),
for even if there are those called gods, whether in Heaven, whether on earth—as there are many gods and many lords—
6 ke míawo ya, míenya be Mawu ɖeka si nye fofo la koe li, ame si gbɔ nuwo katã tso. Eyae míele agbe na, eye Aƒetɔ ɖeka koe li. Eyae nye Yesu Kristo, ame si dzi nuwo katã to, eye to eya dzi míele agbe.
yet to us [is] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we to Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom [are] all things, and we through Him;
7 Ke menye ame sia amee nya esia o. Ame aɖewo la, trɔ̃wo ƒe nuwo ma wo ale gbegbe be ne woɖu nu siawo tɔgbiwo la, wogabuna be trɔ̃woe wotsɔe sa vɔe na, eye esi wònye woƒe dzitsinya gbɔdzɔ ta la, woƒe dzitsinya bua fɔ wo.
but not in all men [is] the knowledge, and certain with conscience of the idol, until now, eat [it] as a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
8 Nɔviwo, minyae be nuɖuɖu mewɔnɛ míetena ɖe Mawu ŋu kpokploe o. Nuɖuɖu megblẽa mí ɖe edzi alo wɔnɛ míenyona ɖe edzi o.
But food does not commend us to God, for neither if we may eat are we in advance; nor if we may not eat, are we behind;
9 Ke ɖeko miakpɔ nyuie be miaƒe ablɔɖe ŋuti dɔ wɔwɔ mezu nu kikli na gbɔdzɔgbɔdzɔtɔwo o.
but see, lest this privilege of yours may become a stumbling-block to the weak,
10 Nu si adzɔ lae nye be ne kristotɔ aɖe si ƒe dzitsinya gblɔ nɛ be menyo be yeaɖu trɔ̃wo ƒe vɔsanu o, ke ame sia va kpɔ wò kristotɔ bubu nènɔ anyi ɖe trɔ̃xɔ me le nu ɖum la, ana be eya hã nate kpɔ be yeaɖui. Ke ne eɖui la, eƒe dzitsinya aɖe fu nɛ vevie eye wòagbɔdzɔ le eƒe dzixɔse me.
for if anyone may see you that have knowledge in an idol’s temple reclining to eat, will not his conscience—he being weak—be emboldened to eat the things sacrificed to idols?
11 Ale wò ame si tsi le gbɔgbɔ me la ƒe nuwɔna azu nuɖiaɖia gã aɖe na ame bubu si hã ta Kristo ku ɖo, gake wònye vidzĩ le gbɔgbɔ me.
For the [one] being weak—the brother for whom Christ died—will perish by your knowledge.
12 Enye nu vɔ̃ wɔwɔ ɖe Kristo ŋu be wò nuwɔna naɖe dzi le ƒo na ame bubu be wòawɔ nu si tsi tsitre ɖe eƒe dzitsinya ŋu.
And thus sinning in regard to the brothers, and striking their weak conscience—you sin in regard to Christ;
13 Eya ta ne to trɔ̃wo ƒe vɔsanuɖuɖu me, mana nɔvinye kristotɔ aɖe nazu nu vɔ̃ wɔla la, ekema nyemagaɖu nu sia tɔgbi gbeɖe o, elabena nyemedi be mana nɔvinye nage le xɔse me o. (aiōn )
for this reason, if food causes my brother to stumble, I may not eat flesh—throughout the age—that I may not cause my brother to stumble. (aiōn )
