1 Timoteosele 1
1 Pauluselt, kes on Kristuse Jeesuse apostel Jumala, meie Päästja, ja Kristuse Jeesuse, meie lootuse käsul,
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to a command of God our Savior, and of the Lord Jesus Christ our hope,
2 Timoteosele, minu tõelisele pojale usus: Armu, halastust ja rahu Jumalalt Isalt ja Kristuselt Jeesuselt, meie Issandalt!
to Timotheus—genuine child in faith: Grace, kindness, peace, from God our Father and Christ Jesus our Lord!
3 Makedooniasse minnes veensin ma sind jääma Efesosse, et sa keelaksid mõningail võõra õpetuse jagamise
According as I exhorted you to remain in Ephesus—I going on to Macedonia—that you might charge certain [ones] not to teach any other thing,
4 ja tegelemise lõputute müütide ja sugupuudega, mis tekitavad asjatuid vaidlusi ega aita kaasa Jumala tööle, mida tehakse usus.
nor to give heed to fables and endless genealogies, that cause questions rather than [the] stewardship of God which [is] in faith.
5 Ent meie korralduse eesmärk on armastus puhtast südamest, heast südametunnistusest ja siirast usust.
And the end of the charge is love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of unhypocritical faith,
6 Neist kõrvale kaldudes on mõned hakanud ajama tühje jutte.
from which certain [men], having swerved, turned aside to vain discourse,
7 Nad tahavad olla seaduseõpetajad, aga ise ei mõista, millest nad räägivad või mida nad nii enesekindlalt kinnitavad.
willing to be teachers of law, not understanding either the things they say, nor concerning what they confidently assert,
8 Me teame, et Seadus on hea, kui seda õigesti kasutada.
and we have known that the Law [is] good, if anyone may use it lawfully;
9 Samuti teame, et Seadus pole õigete, vaid seaduserikkujate ja vastuhakkajate, jumalatute ja patuste, pilkajate ja uskmatute, isa- ja ematapjate, mõrtsukate,
having known this, that law is not set for a righteous man, but for lawless and insubordinate persons, ungodly and sinners, impious and profane, murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, manslayers,
10 hoorajate, oma soo iharate, orjakauplejate, valetajate ja valevandujate ja kõige jaoks, mis on rikkumata õpetuse vastu,
whoremongers, homosexuals, enslavers, liars, perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is adverse to sound doctrine,
11 kooskõlas Jumala kirkuse evangeeliumiga, mis on usaldatud minu kätte.
according to the good news of the glory of the blessed God, with which I was entrusted.
12 Ma olen tänulik Kristusele Jeesusele, meie Issandale, kes mulle jõudu annab, et ta on pidanud mind usaldusväärseks, määrates mind oma tööle.
And I give thanks to Him who enabled me—Christ Jesus our Lord—that He reckoned me steadfast, having put [me] to the ministry,
13 Ehkki ma olin kunagi Jumala teotaja, tagakiusaja ja vägivaldne mees, on ta minu peale halastanud, sest uskmatuses ei teadnud ma, mida ma teen.
who before was speaking slander, and persecuting, and insulting, but I found kindness, because, being ignorant, I did [it] in unbelief,
14 Meie Issanda piiritu arm on mulle osaks saanud koos usu ja armastusega, mis on Kristuses Jeesuses.
and the grace of our Lord exceedingly abounded, with faith and love that [is] in Christ Jesus.
15 See sõna on usaldusväärne ja väärib igati vastuvõtmist, et Kristus Jeesus on tulnud maailma päästma patuseid, kelle seast mina olen kõige suurem.
The word [is] steadfast, and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am first;
16 Kuid mulle on ta jaganud oma armu selleks, et minus, kõige suuremas patuses, võiks Kristus Jeesus näidata oma tohutut kannatlikkust eeskujuna neile, kes hakkavad temasse uskuma ja saavad igavese elu. (aiōnios g166)
but because of this I found kindness, that Jesus Christ might first show forth all long-suffering in me, for a pattern of those about to believe on Him to continuous life. (aiōnios g166)
17 Aga ajastute Kuningale – surematule, nähtamatule, ainsale Jumalale – olgu austus ja ülistus igavesest ajast igavesti! Aamen. (aiōn g165)
And to the King of the ages, the incorruptible, invisible, only wise God, [is] honor and glory through the ages of the ages! Amen. (aiōn g165)
18 Selle korralduse ma annan sulle, mu poeg Timoteos, vastavalt sinu kohta varem antud prohveteeringutele, et sa neid meeles pidades peaksid head võitlust,
I commit to you this charge, child Timotheus, according to the prophecies that went before on you, that you may war in them the good warfare,
19 säilitades usu ja puhta südametunnistuse, millest loobudes on mõned oma usulaeva karile ajanud.
having faith and a good conscience, which some having thrust away, made shipwreck concerning the faith,
20 Nende seas Hümenaios ja Aleksandros, kelle ma olen loovutanud saatanale, et nad loobuksid pühaduse teotamisest.
of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan, that they might be instructed not to speak evil.
