Sentencoj 7
1 Mia filo! konservu miajn vortojn, Kaj gardu ĉe vi miajn moralordonojn.
My son, keep my words, and lay up my precepts with thee. Son,
2 Konservu miajn moralordonojn, kaj vivu; Kaj mian instruon, kiel la pupilon de viaj okuloj.
Keep my commandments, and thou shalt live: and my law as the apple of thy eye:
3 Ligu ilin al viaj fingroj; Skribu ilin sur la tabelo de via koro.
Bind it upon thy fingers, write it upon the tables of thy heart.
4 Diru al la saĝo: Vi estas mia fratino; Kaj la prudenton nomu mia parencino;
Say to wisdom: Thou art my sister: and call prudence thy friend,
5 Por ke vi estu gardata kontraŭ fremda edzino, Kontraŭ fremdulino, kies paroloj estas glataj.
That she may keep thee from the woman that is not thine, and from the stranger who sweeteneth her words.
6 Ĉar mi rigardis tra fenestro de mia domo, Tra mia krado;
For I look out of the window of my house through the lattice,
7 Kaj mi vidis inter la naivuloj, Mi rimarkis inter la nematuruloj junulon senprudentan,
And I see little ones, I behold a foolish young man,
8 Kiu pasis sur la placo preter ŝia angulo, Kaj iris la vojon al ŝia domo,
Who passeth through the street by the corner, and goeth nigh the way of her house.
9 En krepusko, en vespero de tago, Kiam fariĝis nokto kaj mallumo.
In the dark, when it grows late, in the darkness and obscurity of the night,
10 Kaj jen renkonte al li iras virino En ornamo de publikulino, ruzema je la koro.
And behold a woman meeteth him in harlot’s attire prepared to deceive souls; talkative and wandering,
11 Bruema kaj vagema; Ŝiaj piedoj ne loĝas en ŝia domo.
Not bearing to be quiet, not able to abide still at home,
12 Jen ŝi estas sur la strato, jen sur la placoj, Kaj apud ĉiu angulo ŝi embuskas.
Now abroad, now in the streets, now lying in wait near the corners.
13 Kaj ŝi kaptis lin, kaj kisis lin Kun senhonta vizaĝo, kaj diris al li:
And catching the young man, she kisseth him, and with an impudent face, flattereth, saying:
14 Mi devis alporti dankan oferdonon; Hodiaŭ mi plenumis mian solenan promeson.
I vowed victims for prosperity, this day I have paid my vows.
15 Tial mi eliris al vi renkonte, Por serĉi vian vizaĝon, kaj mi vin trovis.
Therefore I am come out to meet thee, desirous to see thee, and I have found thee.
16 Mi bele kovris mian liton Per multkoloraj teksaĵoj el Egiptujo.
I have woven my bed with cords, I have covered it with painted tapestry, brought from Egypt.
17 Mi parfumis mian kuŝejon Per mirho, aloo, kaj cinamo.
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
18 Venu, ni ĝuu sufiĉe volupton ĝis la mateno, Ni plezuriĝu per la amo.
Come, let us be inebriated with the breasts, and let us enjoy the desired embraces, till the day appear.
19 Ĉar mia edzo ne estas hejme, Li iris en malproksiman vojon;
For my husband is not at home, he is gone a very long journey.
20 La sakon kun mono li prenis kun si; Li revenos hejmen je la plenluno.
He took with him a bag of money: he mill return home the day of the full moon.
21 Ŝi forlogis lin per sia multeparolado, Per sia glata buŝo ŝi lin entiris.
She entangled him with many words, and drew him away with the flattery of her lips.
22 Li tuj iras post ŝi, Kiel bovo iras al la buĉo Kaj kiel katenita malsaĝulo al la puno;
Immediately he followeth her as an ox led to be a victim, and as a lamb playing the wanton, and not knowing that he is drawn like a fool to bonds,
23 Ĝis sago fendas al li la hepaton; Kiel birdo rapidas al la kaptilo, Kaj ne scias, ke ĝi pereigas sian vivon.
Till the arrow pierce his liver: as if a bird should make haste to the snare, and knoweth not that his life is in danger.
24 Kaj nun, infanoj, aŭskultu min, Atentu la vortojn de mia buŝo.
Now therefore, my son, hear me, and attend to the words of my mouth.
25 Via koro ne flankiĝu al ŝia vojo, Ne eraru sur ŝia irejo;
Let not thy mind be drawn away in her ways: neither be thou deceived with her paths.
26 Ĉar multajn ŝi vundis kaj faligis, Kaj multegaj estas ŝiaj mortigitoj.
For she hath cast down many wounded, and the strongest have been slain by her.
