Sentencoj 3
1 Mia filo! ne forgesu mian instruon, Kaj via koro konservu miajn ordonojn.
My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart guard my precepts.
2 Ĉar ili akirigos al vi longan vivon, Jarojn de vivo kaj paco.
For they shall set before you length of days, and years of life, and peace.
3 Favoro kaj vero vin ne forlasu; Alligu ilin al via kolo, Skribu ilin sur la tabeloj de via koro.
Let not mercy and truth abandon you: encircle them around your throat, and inscribe them on the tablets of your heart.
4 Kaj vi trovos favoron kaj bonan opinion Ĉe Dio kaj homoj.
And so shall you discover grace and good discipline, in the sight of God and men.
5 Fidu la Eternulon per via tuta koro, Kaj ne fidu vian prudenton.
Have confidence in the Lord with all your heart, and do not depend upon your own prudence.
6 Konsciu Lin en ĉiuj viaj vojoj, Kaj Li ĝustigos vian iradon.
In all your ways, consider him, and he himself will direct your steps.
7 Ne opiniu vin saĝa; Timu la Eternulon, kaj deturnu vin de malbono.
Do not seem wise to yourself. Fear God, and withdraw from evil.
8 Ĉi tio estos saniga por via korpo, Kaj bona nutro por viaj ostoj.
Certainly, it shall be health to your navel, and refreshment to your bones.
9 Faru honoron al la Eternulo el via havo Kaj el la unuavenaĵo de ĉiuj viaj rikoltoj:
Honor the Lord with your substance, and give to him from the first of all your fruits,
10 Tiam viaj grenejoj tute pleniĝos, Kaj viaj vinpremejoj superbordigos moston.
and then your storehouses will be filled with abundance, and your presses shall overflow with wine.
11 La instruon de la Eternulo, ho mia filo, ne malŝatu; Kaj ne deturnu vin, kiam Li faras al vi punon;
My son, do not discard the discipline of the Lord, and do not fall away when you are corrected by him.
12 Ĉar kiun la Eternulo amas, tiun Li punkorektas, Kiel patro la filon, en kiu li havas plezuron.
For whomever the Lord loves, he corrects, and just as a father does with a son, he wins him over.
13 Feliĉa estas la homo, kiu trovis saĝon, Kaj la homo, kiu akiris prudenton;
Blessed is the man who finds wisdom and who advances to prudence.
14 Ĉar estas pli bone ĝin aĉeti, ol aĉeti arĝenton, Kaj ĝia rikoltaĵo estas pli bona, ol pura oro.
Her acquisition is better than trading in silver, and her fruit is better than the first and purest gold.
15 Ĝi estas pli kara, ol juveloj; Kaj nenio, kion vi povus deziri, povas esti komparata kun ĝi.
She is more precious than all riches, and all that can be desired cannot prevail in comparison to her.
16 Longa vivo estas en ĝia dekstra mano; Riĉo kaj gloro estas en ĝia maldekstra mano.
Length of days is at her right hand, and at her left hand is wealth and glory.
17 Ĝiaj vojoj estas vojoj agrablaj, Kaj ĉiuj ĝiaj vojetoj estas paco.
Her ways are beautiful ways, and all her paths are peaceful.
18 Ĝi estas arbo de vivo por tiuj, kiuj ĝin ekkaptis; Kaj feliĉaj estas tiuj, kiuj ĝin posedas.
She is a tree of life to those who overtake her, and he who shall take hold of her is blessed.
19 La Eternulo per saĝo fondis la teron; Per prudento Li aranĝis la ĉielon.
The Lord founded the earth on wisdom. He secured the heavens with prudence.
20 Per Lia ĉionsciado disiĝis abismoj; Kaj la nuboj elverŝas roson.
By his wisdom, the abyss erupted and the clouds increased with dew.
21 Mia filo! ili ne foriru de viaj okuloj; Konservu klarecon de la kapo kaj prudenton:
My son, let not these things move away from your eyes. Preserve law as well as counsel.
22 Ili estos vivo por via animo, Kaj ornamo por via kolo.
And so shall there be life in your soul and grace in your voice.
23 Tiam vi iros sendanĝere vian vojon, Kaj via piedo ne falpuŝiĝos.
Then you shall walk confidently in your way, and your feet will not stumble.
24 Kiam vi kuŝiĝos dormi, vi ne timos; Kaj kiam vi kuŝos, via dormo estos agrabla.
When you slumber, you shall not fear. When you rest, your sleep also will be sweet.
25 Ne timu subitan teruron, Nek pereigon, kiu povus veni de malbonuloj;
Do not fear unexpected terror, nor the power of the impious falling upon you.
26 Ĉar la Eternulo estos via helpo, Kaj gardos vian piedon kontraŭ reto.
For the Lord will be at your side, and he will guard your feet, so that you may not be seized.
27 Ne rifuzu bonon al la bezonantoj, Se via mano havas la forton por fari.
Do not prevent him who is able from doing good. When you are able, do good yourself too.
28 Kiam vi havas ĉe vi, ne diru al via proksimulo: Iru kaj revenu, kaj morgaŭ mi donos.
Do not say to your friend: “Go away, and then return. Tomorrow I will give to you.” When you are able to do so, give in the present.
29 Ne pripensu malbonon kontraŭ via proksimulo, Kiam li kun konfido loĝas ĉe vi.
Do not undertake evil against your friend, even though he has trust in you.
30 Ne malpacu kun iu senkaŭze, Se li ne faris al vi malbonon.
Do not contend against a man without cause, even though he has done no evil to you.
31 Ne enviu rabemulon, Kaj elektu neniun el liaj vojoj;
Do not rival an unjust man, and do not imitate his ways.
32 Ĉar la perversulojn la Eternulo abomenas, Kaj Sian intencon Li malkaŝas al la piuloj.
For everyone who ridicules is an abomination to the Lord, and his communication is for the simple.
33 Malbeno de la Eternulo estas en la domo de malbonulo, Kaj la loĝejon de piuloj Li benas.
Destitution in the house of the impious is from the Lord. But the habitations of the just shall be blessed.
34 La mokantojn Li mokas, Kaj al la humiluloj Li donas favoron.
He will ridicule those who ridicule, but he will bestow grace upon the mild.
35 Honoron heredas saĝuloj; Sed malsaĝuloj forportas honton.
The wise will possess glory. The exaltation of the foolish is disgraceful.
