Sentencoj 14
1 Saĝa virino konstruas sian domon; Sed malsaĝa detruas ĝin per siaj manoj.
Every wise woman has built her house, And the foolish breaks it down with her hands.
2 Kiu iras la ĝustan vojon, tiu timas la Eternulon; Sed kiu iras vojon malĝustan, tiu Lin malestimas.
Whoever is walking in his uprightness is fearing YHWH, And the perverted is despising Him [in] his ways.
3 En la buŝo de malsaĝulo estas vergo por lia malhumileco; Sed la buŝo de saĝuloj ilin gardas.
A rod of pride [is] in the mouth of a fool, And the lips of the wise preserve them.
4 Se ne ekzistas bovoj, la grenejoj estas malplenaj; Sed multe da profito estas de la forto de bovoj.
Without oxen a stall [is] clean, And great [is] the increase by the power of the ox.
5 Verama atestanto ne mensogas; Sed atestanto falsama elspiras mensogojn.
A faithful witness does not lie, And a false witness breathes out lies.
6 Mokanto serĉas saĝecon kaj ĝin ne trovas; Sed por saĝulo la sciado estas facila.
A scorner has sought wisdom, and it is not, And knowledge [is] easy to the intelligent.
7 Foriru de homo malsaĝa; Ĉar vi ne aŭdos parolon de saĝo.
Go from before a foolish man, Or you have not known the lips of knowledge.
8 La saĝeco de saĝulo estas komprenado de sia vojo; Kaj la malsaĝeco de malsaĝuloj estas trompiĝado.
The wisdom of the prudent [is] to understand his way, And the folly of fools [is] deceit.
9 Malsaĝuloj ŝercas pri siaj kulpoj; Sed inter virtuloj ekzistas reciproka favoro.
Fools mock at a guilt-offering, And among the upright—a pleasing thing.
10 Koro scias sian propran malĝojon; Kaj en ĝia ĝojo ne partoprenas fremdulo.
The heart knows its own bitterness, And a stranger does not interfere with its joy.
11 Domo de malvirtuloj estos ekstermita; Sed dometo de virtuloj floros.
The house of the wicked is destroyed, And the tent of the upright flourishes.
12 Iufoje vojo ŝajnas ĝusta al homo, Kaj tamen ĝia fino kondukas al la morto.
There is a way—right before a man, And its latter end [are] ways of death.
13 Ankaŭ dum ridado povas dolori la koro; Kaj la fino de ĝojo estas malĝojo.
Even in laughter is the heart pained, And the latter end of joy [is] affliction.
14 Laŭ siaj agoj manĝos homo malbonkora; Kaj homo bona satiĝos per siaj faroj.
The backslider in heart is filled from his ways, And a good man—from his fruits.
15 Naivulo kredas ĉiun vorton; Sed saĝulo estas atenta pri sia vojo.
The simple gives credence to everything, And the prudent attends to his step.
16 Saĝulo timas, kaj forkliniĝas de malbono; Sed malsaĝulo estas incitiĝema kaj memfidema.
The wise is fearing and turning from evil, And a fool is transgressing and is confident.
17 Malpacienculo faras malsaĝaĵojn; Kaj malbonintenculo estas malamata.
Whoever is short of temper does folly, And a man of wicked schemes is hated.
18 Naivuloj akiras malsaĝecon; Sed saĝuloj estas kronataj de klereco.
The simple have inherited folly, And the prudent are crowned [with] knowledge.
19 Malbonuloj humiliĝos antaŭ bonuloj; Kaj malvirtuloj estos antaŭ la pordego de virtulo.
The evil have bowed down before the good, And the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 Malriĉulo estas malamata eĉ de sia proksimulo; Sed riĉulo havas multe da amikoj.
The poor is hated even of his neighbor, And those loving the rich [are] many.
21 Kiu malŝatas sian proksimulon, tiu estas pekulo; Sed kiu kompatas malriĉulojn, tiu estas feliĉa.
Whoever is despising his neighbor sins, Whoever is favoring the humble, O his blessedness.
22 Ĉu ne eraras malbonintenculoj? Sed favorkoreco kaj vero estas ĉe tiuj, kiuj havas bonajn intencojn.
Do they who are devising evil not err? And kindness and truth [are] to those devising good,
23 De ĉiu laboro estos profito; Sed de babilado venas nur senhaveco.
In all labor there is advantage, And a thing of the lips [is] only to want.
24 Propra riĉeco estas krono por la saĝuloj; Sed la malsaĝeco de la malsaĝuloj restas malsaĝeco.
The crown of the wise is their wealth, The folly of fools [is] folly.
25 Verparola atestanto savas animojn; Sed malverparola elspiras trompon.
A true witness is delivering souls, And a deceitful one breathes out lies.
26 En la timo antaŭ la Eternulo estas forta fortikaĵo; Kaj Li estos rifuĝejo por Siaj infanoj.
Strong confidence [is] in the fear of YHWH, And there is a refuge to His sons.
27 La timo antaŭ la Eternulo estas fonto de vivo, Por evitigi la retojn de la morto.
The fear of YHWH [is] a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.
28 Grandeco de popolo estas gloro por reĝo; Kaj manko de popolo pereigas la reganton.
The honor of a king [is] in the multitude of a people, And the ruin of a prince in lack of people.
29 Pacienculo havas multe da saĝo; Sed malpacienculo elmontras malsaĝecon.
Whoever is slow to anger [is] of great understanding, And whoever is short in temper is exalting folly.
30 Trankvila koro estas vivo por la korpo; Sed envio estas puso por la ostoj.
A healed heart [is] life to the flesh, And rottenness to the bones [is] envy.
31 Kiu premas malriĉulon, tiu ofendas lian Kreinton; Kaj kiu Lin honoras, tiu kompatas malriĉulon.
An oppressor of the poor reproaches his Maker, And whoever is honoring Him Is favoring the needy.
32 Pro sia malboneco malvirtulo estos forpuŝita; Sed virtulo eĉ mortante havas esperon.
The wicked is driven away in his wickedness, And the righteous [is] trustful in his death.
33 En la koro de saĝulo ripozas saĝo; Kaj kio estas en malsaĝuloj, tio elmontriĝas.
Wisdom rests in the heart of the intelligent. And it is known in the midst of fools.
34 Virto altigas popolon; Sed peko pereigas gentojn.
Righteousness exalts a nation, And the righteousness of peoples [is] a sin-offering.
35 Favoron de la reĝo havas sklavo saĝa; Sed kontraŭ malbonkonduta li koleras.
The favor of a king [is] to a wise servant, And one causing shame is an object of his wrath!
